Chapter 47 Date

"I'll stay here with you, not bother you, keep quiet and do nothing."

Benjamin reached out to straighten the stray hair on Harper's cheek, but before his fingertips could touch her cheek, she simply ducked away.

His hand just stopped stiffly in midair.

Harper's face was pale, her lips devoid of any blood, and those eyes grew cold.

Benjamin clenched his hand tightly and then dropped it, raising the hospital bed for her while holding the soup to her. He said, "I'll feed you. You drink a little first, okay?"

There was only a little salt in the soup to add flavor, since Harper couldn't eat anything else right now.

But Harper said, "I don't want to eat."

"What do you want to eat? I'll have someone prepare it?"

"I don't want to eat anything. Can you go now?"

"Harper, I was the one who didn't take your wishes into account last night, and I promise it won't happen again, okay?"

He was patient and his voice became much softer.

"So you bullied me first and then calmed me down? Benjamin, do you realize that you almost..."

She was very emotional. But thinking about the baby, Harper didn't continue.

But she couldn't control her emotions as she thought about last night. It wasn't like Harper didn't yell to stop, but he didn't even give her a chance. If the baby did get hurt by this, she would really hate him and hate herself even more.

Benjamin held the soup and never put it down. He said in a low voice, "I'm sorry. You can punish me all you want, but you have to eat now. How else are you going to get well?"

"You put it down. I'll eat it myself."

She turned around, leaving him with her back.

Harper really didn't know what kind of person Benjamin really was.

They were about to get divorced, yet he was going to do that intimate thing with her that only couples do.

Why was Benjamin now taking care of her like a considerate husband?

What was he trying to do?

Harper felt that the more she thought about it, the more annoyed she became.

Afterward, she stopped paying attention to Benjamin. No matter what he did or said, Harper was always silent.

Harper went to the hospital in the middle of the night, and naturally, word got out to the Martin Manor.

Paul came to visit with Lily. They were worried about Harper's emaciation and criticized Benjamin severely.

Paul said, "Harper, get well soon. When you recover, I will personally accompany you to divorce him. And after the divorce, you will move back to the Martin Manor to live with us. From now on, you will be my own granddaughter. You're so good looking. There are plenty of young talents lining up to date you, so we'll pick them one by one."

Paul's reassurance brought a light smile to Harper's face. It had only been one night and her delicate face had lost a lot of weight, which was worrying.

Benjamin was on the other side of the room listening clearly, but didn't dare to say anything in any way, just sighed helplessly and silently.

Harper had been hospitalized for two days, and Benjamin was the one who took care of accompanying her for those two days, but Harper was always cold. He didn't force her to do anything either, everything was left to her.

During this period, Lauren also came to visit, but Harper refused to see her, and Benjamin finally let her go.

On the day she was discharged from the hospital, Paul had someone drive over to pick up Harper, so Benjamin followed her back to the Martin Manor.

He originally thought it was just a simple dinner, but after he arrived, he realized that Paul was trying to select a date for Harper.

Paul asked Lily to prepare photos of unmarried young talents with good character in his circle, and then handed them to Harper one by one to choose. "Harper, look carefully, take your time to choose, no need to rush, and then tell me if you like that one."

Harper was a bit overwhelmed, but she couldn't refute Paul's good intentions, so she could only cooperate with him.

She looked at the photo that Paul handed to her hand. It was a good-looking man. So Harper asked, "Grandpa, this guy looks pretty good. How old is he?"

"This is the Gene family's child, Harry Gene, Yinson's son. He comes from a medical family, a typical genius, and is a year younger than you."

"Harry is younger than me? Then we don't fit."

Harper shook her head.

"How are you inappropriate? Isn't sibling love popular now? I'll arrange it so he can meet you tomorrow for a chat."

Paul decided right away.

Harper didn't say anything.

Then Lily said, "Harry may be a bit young, but he understands things. I heard his mom say that he is very sweet and gentle. Harper, I think you must like Harry." "Okay."

Harper nodded back.

Lily asked again, "Do you want me to accompany you tomorrow?"

"Lily, accompany me if it's convenient for you, otherwise I'm afraid I'll be embarrassed if we meet for the first time."

"Okay, then I'll accompany you." Lily smiled with an expectant face, "Harper, I want to thank you for letting me experience the feeling of marrying a daughter."

Harper was slightly stunned and his cheeks flushed.

The atmosphere was extraordinarily cordial.

On the other side, Scott lightly glanced at Benjamin. "Benjamin, your grandfather wasn't joking with your mom. For the sake of Harper's happiness, you replace time to get the formalities done."

Benjamin's face was cold, and he just said, "Dad, although the Martin Group is the pinnacle of the industry nowadays, there are quite a lot of people waiting for a chance to stare at the Martin Group to make a mistake. If the matter of my divorce from Harper breaks out at this time, the company's stock will definitely drop to a low point, so after careful consideration, I decided to delay the divorce for now and wait until this current much watched project is over."

He said it without changing his face, not revealing any difference.

"Is that really what you think?" Scott asked.

"Of course, now that I'm the president of the Martin Group, I put the company's business first no matter what the situation is. I can't let my own business affect the reputation and interests of the Martin Group." He narrowed his eyes, and his voice was low and sincere.

"It's good that you can think like that. Since it's for the sake of the company, you should go talk to your grandfather and Harper before something unnecessary happens."

Scott swept a meaningful glance at Benjamin.

They knew exactly what was implied and what was on each other's minds. They just hadn't completely put things straight.

Benjamin and Scott turned and went down the hall. Paul started a new round of introductions with Harper. He said, "Harper is pretty and kind. Good girls like that are rare. They get picked by you because they're lucky."

Harper felt a little embarrassed that Paul was exaggerating. But looking at him happy, she was willing to nod her head in cooperation. "You're right."

As it happened, this was overheard by Benjamin.

The two looked at each other, and then Harper subconsciously looked away.

Paul also saw Benjamin come in and said faintly. "You're just in time. How about you come over and see what this man is like? You investigate how his character is."

Benjamin looked at the photo in front of him with no expression. The man on the photo was a notorious playboy in his circle. Benjamin reached down and picked up the photo and tossed it into the trash can. Benjamin's series of actions made Paul unable to hold back his anger.
