IMPALA (Farside Saga: Book One) -
Chapter Twenty One: Them (Finale)
Highly elated and yet surprised, Maylar nearly jumped for joy. He really did not expect the human ship to defeat the Nefarion, and so easily. He knew they had a great destiny and this confirms it. Maylar finally sealed his decision that may or may not cost him his place.
Long ago, when the universe was still young, Falron was drawn to the attention of a freshly ascended race know as the Lyrks. They warned of something disturbing in the far distance but knew not what or where. Fearing it may be the return of Anthros, he prepared to once again fight. The Lyrks had gained a vast knowledge of the universe through their ascencion and offered to help. They knew him not to be a god but simply of higher ascencion, so Falron accepted. A few millennials later, Falron had his army and just as he feared, so did Anthros. It started out subtle, a few battles between neighboring planets and systems, then throughout the galaxy. It began to spread throughout the universe before the real nightmare began. He began to notice that some of his creations were not looking right. Soon it started to spread. Then Anthros made his move, this time in the form of a black hole. His immense power began to draw in all life, but with the help of the Lyrks, a few other assentiant beings, and a group of freshly created celestial entities know as the Nefarions, Falron was able to stop him. One Nefarion and a few of the Lyrks created a dimensional realm called the Bellatine Zone and trapped Anthros in it, sealing him off forever. The Nefarion stayed behind while the rest departed back to open space. The Lyrks stood guard over the Dimensional prison. Falron thanked them all. The Creator, seeing Falron's life force protect him from his enemy, blessed them with a piece of his on life force. Thus the creation of Herion Energy. Pleased with this, Falron chose his first Lyrk as a student, teaching him the knowledge of the Protector and wisdom of the Creator further advancing his ascencion well beyond that of the rest giving birth to the First Watcher. That Lyrk....was Maylar.
He thought long and hard about his decision. Manipulating a few things here and there until it drew to this point. He needed to be sure that what he sensed about the humans was true before he made his move. Sending the Nefarion to them was the perfect test as well as a bonus. The last thing he expected was for them to free the Nefarion. Falron will be so pleased he thought to himself. Although he had his doubts, seeing as they still didn't understand what they had but learned to use it so quickly, was still amazing to him. Now that his doubts were erased, he could now put the final piece into place in case he himself should fail. The black and yellow jagged tip of the Kregorian ship still held the life force of six crew members. Seeing this, Maylar set forth his plan.
