My wedding.

Normally a girl should be a little excited and happy that she’s getting married to the person she loves, to the person she knows.

But me? I was depressed. Hailey was getting me ready with a few other professionals. But I wasn’t ready for it.

I wasn’t ready to leave.

“Layla, at least look a little happy” Hailey whispered into my ear and I nodded, plastering on a fake smile.

I was ready in my white dress. Ready to be taken to a different world.

My hair and make up was perfect. Everything was perfect. Except me.

“Layla, you’re done. We’ll be downstairs” the two girls said, and walked out of the room.

I strapped my white heels on, and stood up.

“How do I look?” I turned to Hailey.

“Stunning” I smiled

“You can still back ou-” I shook my head.

“Even if I’m not ready, I have to do this. ” she nodded, staring at me in her peach bridesmaid’s dress.

Yesterday Claire had bought everything. From the decorations to the bridesmaids dresses. Everything.

“Let’s go.” Hailey grabbed a hold of my hand and started walking out of the room. I was careful as I walked downstairs, making sure I didn’t step on my dress.

“You look so beautiful Layla.” Grandma Emily gushed, as she helped me down.

She came back for my wedding, which I liked.

I get on with Emily more than anyone in this house. Except Vincent. He’s always been my best friend. There’s so many things Hailey doesn’t know about me, and I’ll like to keep it that way and he hasn’t told her.

“I still think she should have chose-” Mia shook her head at mom.

“She looks beautiful, Summer. Don’t spoil it” she muttered

“Thank you” I smiled slightly.

“Now I want you to smile, when you’re walking with Tyler” mom said.

“Uncle Tyler? What about dad?” Mia sighed

“Your dad is busy” I nodded ignoring it all.

“Let’s go. I can’t wait to get married” I mumbled following them out of the castle and towards a white carriage with a few pink flowers. It was amazing.

“You are so lucky.” Hailey whispered, staring at it.

“You’re lucky. You have someone who loves you. I only have the fame, the money” she rolled her eyes, as we sat inside carefully.

“Layla, remember to smile, stand up straight” mom said and I nodded as she gave me a bunch of white flowers

“Let the girl live, Summer.” Emily said as the carriage started moving.

The beach where the wedding was only 10 minutes away from us.

When we got there, I smiled. Everything looked so beautiful, so elegant.

“Let’s go.” Mia, Emily and mom got out of the car, and walked towards the chairs.

“You ready Layla?” Hailey asked

“Nope” she smiled

“You’ll do great” I nodded as she stepped out. She helped me out of the carriage, and sorted my dress out from the back.

“Let’s go” she stepped in front of me, as uncle Tyler walked towards me giving me his arm.

I wrapped my arm through his and smiled, as Hailey started walking.

“Thank you” I whispered and he shrugged.

“It’s the least I could, since I didn’t pay for anything in the wedding” I rolled my eyes as he walked me towards Asher.

Asher. He looked hot.

Everyone has a weakness when it comes to guys. And my weakness is suits? Is that bad? I love a guy who works out and wears a suit, like hello, I’m here...

“Sweetheart?” Asher’s deep voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

I placed my hand in his and stepped up, onto the small stage. Uncle Tyler patted Asher on the shoulder a little and sat down next to Mia.

That was a way to say that you’re welcome into the family but be careful. It’s funny when uncle Tyler glared at him.

I stood in front of the priest, opposite Asher who was looking at me, smirking.

The priest was a human, because some of these people were from the company.

***

I, Asher Hayes, take you, Layla Hill, to be my lawfully wedded wife, my constant friend, my faithful partner and my love from this day forward. In the presence of our family and friends, I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live.” Asher mumbled bored.

I repeated after the priest.

“I, Layla Hill, take you, Asher Hayes, to be my lawfully wedded husband, my constant friend, my faithful partner and my love from this day forward. In the presence of our family and friends, I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live.” I said knowing, none of us meant it

The priest said to exchange the rings. Did I get a ring?

A little boy ran forward, handed me a ring, and one to Asher. I placed the ring on his finger and he did the same.

“Can you hurry this up?” Asher said to the priest.

“You may kiss the bride” he mumbled.

Asher leaned forward towards me and smirked.

“Welcome to hell, sweetheart” he whispered, placing his lips on mine.

I could feel the sparks, even though I knew I was imaging them. If we were mates, he would feel something for me,other than hate.

He stood back as everyone started clapping.

“Who’s ready to party!” Hailey shouted and I smiled as Vincent covered her mouth, whispering something into her ear, making her turn red.

“Let’s go, sweetheart” Asher entwined our fingers together and started walking down the stage. Everyone walked out and I pulled Asher’s hand making him stop.

“What did you mean by ‘welcome to hell’?” I asked

“Pack your bags. We’re going in 20 minutes to New York” he turned to me.

“We have a short reception party to get to. Come on sweetheart, don’t make me drag you there” I frozen.

20 minutes? That’s all I have with my family. 20 minutes is all I have with Hailey.

“Fuck this” he muttered picking me up bridal style, and walking to the car.

“Asher, put me down”

“Don’t tell me what to do. Growing up with Alpha’s around, I would have thought that you knew all of this. My bad, that you’re stupid” he placed me inside the car, and sat next to me, closing the door.

“Drive” he ordered the guy and he pulled out of the private beach.

Stupid? I’m not stupid.

“Where is your pack?” I ask

“Ashville” I nod having no idea where that is.

The car stops outside a decorated venue.

Asher climbs out of the car and holds his hand out to me. I place my hand in his and he pulls me out.

“Will you be able to dance in that dress?” He asks and I nod

“Let’s just go inside” he mumbles, entwining our fingers together and pulling me inside.

As soon as we step inside, the music stops and everyone starts clapping.

“The bride and groom, ladies and gentlemen” a guy shouts in the mic

“Smile. You look dead” Asher whispers in my ear.

“If I look dead, then why am I standing?” I reply back and he smirks.

“Because I’m holding you” I realise that he is. His arm is wrapped around my waist, walking inside.

“Get ready to leave, sweetheart. You only have 20 minutes” he smirks walking towards a table.

“14 minutes and 30 seconds” I whisper sitting down.

“You’ve been counting” he chuckles sitting down next to me.

“You’ve been scaring me” I look at him.

“That’s good. You should be scared of me sweetheart. I’m not a nice guy” I roll my eyes

“Doesn’t everyone say that?” I ask

“Some mean it, some don’t. And I do. I mean it sweetheart, I’m bad news. If you get to close, you’ll die”

“Aren’t I already close?” I ask confused

“No where near” I nod as he stands up

“Let’s dance, sweetheart” he grabs my hand, pulling me up with him.

13 minutes and 12 seconds

■■■■■■■■

“Do you really have to go?” Hailey whispers in my ear, hugging me tightly.

“Yeah. Not that it’s my choice” she nods, tightening her arms around me, once more, before letting me go.

“I’ll miss you. A lot.” I nod

“I know I will. Don’t make a new best friend” I narrow my eyes at her, playfully.

“People would die to become my best friend” she flips her hair back.

“And I thought Layla was the dramatic one” Vincent mumbles before he hugs me tightly.

“Call me, if anything happens” he let’s me go and I nod.

“I think I’ll be safe” I lie and he nods as I hug Mia and Tyler.

“I’ll miss you so much” I whisper, letting them go.

I hug my dad,who pats me on the back

“Don’t be a trouble for them. Be at good girl okay?” He smiles and I nod.

He’s happy, because he’s free. Free of worry.

I hug my mom, for a second before she let’s go.

“Don’t start to fight. It might be different there, Layla, but keep a control on yourself. And don’t lie”

“Summer stop it.” Mia whispers as I step back.

“I never lied, mom. I never did” I mumble turning my back to her and staring at Asher.

“We have a flight to get to in 4 minutes and 45 seconds. I don’t want to be late” he nods, holding my hand, tightly.

“Goodbye” he waves at everyone walking out of the venue, and opens the door for me.

“Thank you” I whisper as he closes the door.

He sits inside the car and starts it up.

“How long is th-”

“Long enough. You’ll have some clothes in the airplane, get changed” I nod closing my eyes and lean on the door.

I forgot all about the mate thing. If Asher’s says we’re not mates, then we’re not. I don’t want a mate now.

I’m married.
