Love and Chaos Series -
His Forbidden Mate Chapter 34
There were a few changes in our initial arrangement. The prince went ahead to the capital first a few days ago because the king beckoned to him, but he promised to send for me and every day I waited agitated and counting down. After I got home yesterday, I received visitors and before my door were six royal guards to bring me to the capital, just as he had promised.
The smile on my face remained impeccable. Edward had kept to his words, and that made me happy. I gathered my luggage containing the dresses the dressmaker had worked on a few days ago, and a guard helped set the bag into the carriage. They looked beautiful. I knew the prince would love them when he sees them on me.
I had already set Jane in charge of the parlour in mine and Edward's absence and though she was sceptical about us; I told her not to be. Edward cared about me more than anything else and he wanted to be with me. It felt like a dream, but it was real. She hugged me and told me to stay safe in the Capital and get her something special on my return. I promised to, and she wished me all the best. I knew I'd miss her. We hadn't been this far apart since we've known each other and it would take time to adjust. Yesterday, I sent a letter to Rue asking after her and the little child growing in her. Then I informed her about my departure to the capital with prince Edward, confirming the suspicion she had always had many months ago, which I bluntly denied. I received a response from her wishing me well and a safe trip and telling me her child was sound.
I got into the carriage with one person in mind, the one my heartbeat for. Edward.
The two-days' journey passed faster than expected, which was good, and on the second day, I arrived at the capital. The sites of the capital blew me away. The houses were bigger, the temple larger, and the streets were busier than the city of Lurds. It affirmed why it was called the city of royal. I wondered to myself if I really belonged in a city like this with so much class and excellence, but I knew I wouldn't mind as long as I'd get to have Edward.
It felt as if everything had fallen into place fast, but it's been over six months since Edward stepped into my parlour and turned everything around. My world, he had somehow made to revolve around him, and I wasn't complaining. I did not mind. It felt like foolishness, but what is love if not insanity and foolishness?
The gates of the palace estate opened to the guards riding the carriage, and they drove in. After a long while of riding, the carriage came to a stop. The door of the carriage opened, and the guard held out his hand to me. I smiled and took it, and he carefully helped me down.
I came to stand before the magnificent Palace and I dragged a shaky breath at its beauty. The palace was the most outstanding of all the sites I'd seen on my way here. It was better than I had imagined and I stood before it, insignificant. Goosebumps scattered all over my body, knowing I'd stay here for the next couple of days. I couldn't believe Edward had invited me and it still felt like a dream I didn't want to wake from.
I giggled nervously, and the guard led me up the steps that led up to the entrance door. Once at the door, it pulled open, and I stepped in along with the guard.
I spotted two people standing at the entrance, all not so far away, a man and a woman. I knew they had to be the king and queen. I almost turned around and race back home, but I computed myself, knowing I couldn't shame Edward that way. He deserved better. I needed to be bold for him.
The king shared a striking resemblance to his brother the prince, same hair colour and cheekbone and nose. Their lips differed along with their height because the king stood a little taller than his brother. Also, their eyes because the king had alluring emerald eyes while Edward had an enchanting blue eyes I wouldn't tire looking at.
The queen stood beside her husband, adorned in a scarlet robe that swept all the way to the floor. She had a warm and welcoming smile on her face and her amber eyes fixed on me. Her rosy red hair was in a ponytail and if the things Edward told me about them were true, the king helped her with this hairstyle. She looked elegant and with all I've heard about her; I know she was the embodiment of perfection.
I curtsey in respect as I reach where they stood.
"King Xavier, Queen Mia. It's an honour to stand before you both."
"The honour is ours, Lady Kailani of the house Asika." queen Mia spoke up, her smile not dimming.
"Edward informed us of your arrival." king Xavier said, his voice sounding like that of Edward's, only deeper.
I nodded but remained silent, wondering where the prince who was the one responsible for my presence had taken himself to.
"He was called upon by our father. He will be here soon." queen Mia added, clearing up the air and my scepticism.
"Speak of the devil." the king said, his eyes travelling behind and mine did likewise and they soon found prince Edward hurrying towards where we all stood.
His eyes met mine, and a smile appeared on his face, and it didn't leave. I couldn't help smiling back despite my uneasiness. I felt glad he came and happy to see him.
"She came before you. Why am I not surprised?" the king asked, and the prince rolled his eyes.
"You should know by now our father is just as stubborn as you when he has his heart on something," he replied and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me against himself, not caring much that the king and queen were present. "How was the travel?" he asked and the eyes of the king and queen moved over to me.
"It was okay. I didn't expect it to go so well, but it did," I answered, my voice timid.
He kissed my forehead. "You'll get all the rest you need. The celebration is in two days."
I turned to the king and queen, "Congratulations to the both of you. You are truly an inspiration."
"At least you got better sight than my brother right here." the king said and Edward scoffed from beside me.
"Be nice." the queen scolded, then smiled at me. "I'd say let the guards show you to your room, but Edward's already here. Enjoy yourself and I hope your stay is memorable."
I bowed my head to the king and queen once again, and Edward led me away from them.
"Your brother and queen are nicer than I expected," I said as Edward led me into the chamber I guess had been assigned to me throughout my stay here.
He rolled his eyes. "To you, he's still the same mean older brother to me."
"He's not that bad."
He scoffed, "He wanted to sell me into slavery for the longest of time." he argued his point.
"I know he wouldn't have done that even if he had the chance."
"You're right, he wouldn't have." He agreed with a nod before capturing my lips between his. He took me into the massive bed covered with white sheets.
He missed me just as much as I missed him, and it showed in his kiss, his touch, his caress. His quest for release. I couldn't get enough of him and he couldn't get enough of me, not until we felt utterly spent reaping nothing but pure pleasure. He gathered me to himself and laid behind me and his arms felt so much like home.
