Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 86

Amber

I closed my eyes against the burning tears. The air around me was suffocating, filled with scents of urine and debris.

Along with eleven more females, I was abducted by rogues who aimed to sell us to a secret slave market by the end of that week. That was what I had heard the guards stationed outside our pathetic excuse of a room say. They kept us on the verge of starvation, only feeding us a piece of bread and some water. But they would not allow us to use the restroom, afraid we would try to escape.

I was taken from the Nightfall pack in Sacramento, a newly formed pack consisting of werewolves who came from dismantled packs that had fallen in attacks. We had too little manpower to protect our females. Our leader, Nate, was a warmhearted warrior who survived our previous pack’s attack. Our entire pack had vanished into thin air after a mysterious fire broke out. As we attempted to put the fire out, the rest of our pack members were taken by surprise and could not fight back when the rogues attacked. He and I were the only ones left alive because he was away on a mission and I was the cellar checking our food supplies when the rogues attacked.

In our search for a new home, Nate formed the Nightfall pack and took in the wounded and abandoned, homeless werewolves like us. I was at the river bank with another Omega, basking in the sun after a tiring morning when the rogues approached us. We were too far from the pack and Nate didn’t have the time to react. They used wolfsbane to put us to sleep and we ended up locked in that filthy room with ten more women from other packs.

I was the only one who didn’t lose her composure and tried to figure out where they had taken us. I didn’t know how long we had travelled so I wasn’t sure of where we were. I desperately wanted to escape and embrace my second chance for a better life. The Moon Goddess hadn’t saved me just to become a slave to a perverted man. From what the guards had said, I knew that a horrible life awaited us when we were sold.

The day they were supposed to take us to the slave market, the guards led us to another room. They ordered us to clean up and dress in some cheap revealing clothes. None of us protested, afraid they might kill us for it.

Two dark vans waited for us outside. I took the opportunity to look around before the guards ordered me to enter one of the vans. We were in the woods, surrounded by tall leafy trees and nothing else. I calculated my chances of escaping once I entered that van. It would be impossible, but there was nothing I could do.

I stopped at the door, panicked, anxiety paralysing me and the guard shoved me into the back of the van. My ribs hit the seat painfully and my breath left me. I fell into the seat and the next girl filled the doorway, getting in quietly.

I closed my eyes and prayed to our Moon Goddess for her help. The guard sat opposite me. His disgusting gaze travelled from my thighs to my exposed bust and my hands automatically covered my bare skin. He smiled, revealing brown, rotting teeth and I had to push down the urge to vomit. I looked away and breathed slowly, trying to calm my upset stomach.

The squeal of tires reached my ears before the van swayed violently on a crazy course.

“s**t, man. What the hell happened?” the guard screamed.

“The right front tire blew. I can’t hold the car for long,” the driver replied and before we knew it he lost control and the van flipped over and over again. We found ourselves floating in midair, our heads and bodies smashing into the sides. My b***d mixed with the b***d of the other five girls and the guard’s stinking dark b***d. The van stopped and the doors opened wide.

We were flung out of the van and I found myself flying in the air and landing on my stomach, b***d dripping from my mouth and body. The guard’s wounded body lay next to me. I tried to see through my bloody eyes, looking for the other girls but an explosion made me hide my face in the wet soil. The van had exploded.

I crawled, groaning in pain and coughing, suffocated by the dust and debris. My body ached and I wondered if I’d broken every bone in my body. It certainly felt like it.

I had to move. I had to survive and get away. It was my only chance, I thought and despite the fact that my injuries were severe, I urged myself to crawl as far as I could.

The heavy smoke hanging in the air helped hide me. I managed to crawl into a huge tree trunk away from the crash and had to grit my teeth at the pain of bringing my feet to my chest.

I could hear the voices of the rogues from the first car counting the casualties. None of the other girls with me survived. The explosion had severely injured them.

Both the rogue guards were dead.

“There was one more but we can’t replace her,” one of them said.

“f**k. We can’t stay here any longer. The explosion was loud, and the surrounding packs’ scouts will be checking what happened soon. We have to leave!” another said.

“What about the missing woman?” a deeper voice said.

“She is probably dead somewhere. None of the others survived. She can’t be that lucky,” the first voice said and they walked away.

I remained in my hiding spot well after they left, too afraid to come out and eventually drifted into unconsciousness. When I opened my eyes there was only the sound of birds chirping. I struggled to get out of the trunk. I had to replace help or I would die. Every time I moved, b***d oozed from my mouth. I didn’t get far when I fainted again.

“She is still alive but her pulse is barely there. We must tell our Beta. Let’s get her to the hospital.”

I felt a presence near my weak body but I couldn’t open my eyes or speak to him. I wanted to tell them to hurry because my life force was leaving my body but I couldn’t. I lay there, helpless and prayed for my life.

Timothy

I followed the nurse into the surgical theatre and I thought my heart would stop.

“Mate,” my wolf roared inside my head and I felt my head spinning.

What?

“Hurry up Timothy; our mate is in grave danger. You must save her,” my wolf insisted and cold sweat broke out on my face.

I rushed to her side without another word. Her dark blonde hair was soaked in b***d and her forehead was badly bruised. So was her right eye.

‘She was in a car accident. She had cuts on her skull, doctor. And many broken bones. She has internal bleeding and has lost a lot of b***d. Her pulse is very weak. She might not survive,” the nurse informed me.

“Did you run a CT scan?” I asked, my voice unrecognisable. It was broken, uneasy.

“Yes. We noticed her abdomen was more swollen than the rest of her body and suspected intra-abdominal bleeding. She also happens to have fractured and broken ribs. We couldn’t waste time and since you and Emma were absent, we followed the standard procedure,” the nurse apologised.

“You did well. Where is the bleeding coming from?” I said checking my mate’s pulse.

“Her liver.”

“Get ready for surgery. We must stop the bleeding before we give her a transfusion. Move it! Faster!” I growled as the nurses looked at me, wondering at my impatience.

“This is my mate we are talking about. I won’t allow her to be taken from me,” I growled and it was the motivation the nurses needed.

They had everything ready in a few minutes and for the first the scalpel trembled in my hand. I was so afraid for my mate’s life.

I performed the surgery, praying to the moon Goddess to help me keep my mate alive and she did. She helped me through the hardest time of my life.

When the bleeding stopped, I ordered the nurses to prepare a room for her, draw b***d from me, and transfuse it to my mate.

“Doctor, are you sure?” the nurse asked worriedly.

“Yes. Draw as much b***d as needed. I will stay here until we are done and then transfer my mate to her room,” I replied.

Feeling weak after the transfusion, I followed my mate to her room and lay beside her, trying not to hurt her. I heard somewhere that she would feel safer by my side and that the sound of my heartbeat next to hers would help her recover sooner.

I didn’t realise I had fallen asleep. My exhaustion from the previous night and the b***d transfusion had caught up with me.

I felt someone touching my face and I wrinkled my nose, annoyed. I wanted to sleep more.

“Doctor, the patient is awake,” I heard the nurse whisper and I spoke, keeping my eyes closed.

“What time is it? How could she wake up so soon?

The nurse giggled.

“Doctor, you have slept for a whole day. It’s only natural for the patient to wake up from surgery after so many hours,” she explained.

Patient? Surgery?

My eyes shot open and met the most beautiful green eyes ever. One of them that was, because the other was still bruised and swollen.

She blushed and looked away and I lay on my elbow watching her.

“Do you feel any better?” I asked in a hoarse voice and she nodded.

“The pain is more bearable,” she replied in a soft voice.

“What is your name?” I removed some hair that fell on her face carefully trying not to touch her bruises.

“Amber,” she whispered, still not looking at me.

“Do you know who I am to you, Amber?” Her name was music to my ears.

“Mate?” she asked, shifting uncomfortably in the bed.

“Mate,” I replied huskily and she lowered her head, blushing again.

“How old are you, Amber?’ I took her wrist to check her pulse while we talked and she pulled her hand back, uneasy at my touch.

“Twenty-two,” she replied, gulping and I got out of bed. She wasn’t comfortable next to me. I could tell she was afraid.

“You have nothing to be afraid of, Amber. I won’t harm you. You are my mate, and I am the pack doctor. I operated on you yesterday and transfused you with my b***d. So we have much more in common than you think,” I smiled at her and took her medical chart.

Surprise showed in her one green eye and I bent close to her ear.

“Don’t look at me like that little mate. I am a doctor, not a saint. Trust me, checking you up medically is not my preference. I would rather do other things to you but I must wait until you feel better, I winked and smiled as her face flushed again.

“How did you end up in the car accident?” I asked, checking her vitals, and Amber paled.

“What happened? What’s wrong?” I asked in concern.

“I am a member of the Nightfall pack in Sacramento. Rogues abducted me and they planned to sell me in a secret slave market yesterday,” she whispered and my wolf growled.

“What the fu.ck? Where are those fuc.kers now?” he snarled and Amber curled up in fear.

“Don’t be afraid, sweetheart. I would never harm you and neither would my wolf,” I comforted her and sat on the bed, taking her in my arms. Amber wrapped her arms around my waist and cried.

“Blake, you’d better come to the hospital. I must talk to you,” I mind-linked my Alpha.
