The atmosphere at the table immediately became tense after Layna spoke those words.

As the crown prince of Mightwater, though he had a carefree and open-minded character, it did not mean he was a fool.

Any intelligent person would agree to Layna's request because Levi was their greatest support when compared to his buddy. Even the crown prince's uncle, Phoenix, was merely a general in Levi's troop. The crown prince looked at his mom and turned to Layna before shrugging his shoulders helplessly and continuing to devour his crab claw.

"In all the years I've lived, there aren't many people I admire." While chewing on his plump crab claw, he continued, "The only person my age whom I admire is Matthew. He saved my life, and I respect him, so this is a lifetime of gratitude. If Master Levi is displeased with our relationship, my mom and I can estrange ourselves from him. However, if Matthew is in danger, I, the crown prince, will not stand around and watch him get harmed. Hmm! As expected from a fresh crab caught in the sea. This is delicious!"

After speaking, he did not look up from his food and continued enjoying the delectable seafood. His answer was crystal clear; regardless of his relationship with Matthew, he would continue to protect him. Meanwhile, Poison Spider did not have much of a reaction to her son's answer because she had always been unconditionally supportive of her son's decisions. Yet, when she saw Layna's darkened expression, she hurriedly reprimanded, "You brat, how could you speak to your god-grandmother that way?"

She slapped the back of the crown prince's head before turning to Layna and explaining, "Godmother, don't take a kid's words to heart. He's young and loves those delusive, illusive things like heroes and their loyalty to each other. I'm sure he'll understand what you mean after he grows older."

With that, Layna understood what she was implying. Since she did not deny her son's choice, it meant that she was on her son's side.

After a moment's silence, Layna nodded her head. Now that she had the answer, she no longer needed to pretend. "So, it seems you two are loyal and righteous people. Alright, then. I'll drop the act." After having said that, she smiled again and informed, "I kept a black box in a safety deposit. Prince, would you mind helping me get it out?"

As her words fell, the mother-son duo secretly felt relieved. Subsequently, the crown prince agreed to her request without hesitation.

Then, Layna took out a piece of paper from within her clothes. "Everything you need is written on this paper! Burn it once you memorize everything. Also, you can't reveal this to anyone, understand?" After he memorized everything on the piece of paper, he obediently nodded despite being curious. Should we keep this from Master Levi as well?

However, when he saw Layna's solemn countenance, he quickly stopped himself from asking that question.

Meanwhile, in the study, a soft breeze blew inside the room as the door pushed open.

Within a second, a woman in black stood before Levi's desk. "Master Levi, I saw Madam instructing the crown prince about something, but I didn't dare to get closer cause I was afraid of getting found out. So, I wasn't able to hear their conversation."

Hearing his subordinate's report, Levi did not have much reaction. "It doesn't matter. There's no need to watch them."

"But-"

Just as the female subordinate was about to speak again, he interrupted her. "They can do whatever they want as long as they aren't plotting to harm me. Moreover, if they had wanted to do so, they wouldn't have waited until this moment. Also, all of you have to ensure the Madam's safety, that's all. I hope that you guys understand that there are some things you should and shouldn't listen to."

"Yes, Master Levi. I'll leave and relay your orders!"

When he picked up his pen, he regained his solitude once again in his peaceful study.
