Married On Paper To The Billionaire
Chapter 12: Surprise, surprise!

"Please, stay. You can go back home tomorrow."

Emilia smiled and snuggled deeper into Kane's arms. "I didn't tell my parents that I'd be sleeping over here."

"I'm sure they'll understand if you don't show up tonight. It's not like you're a teenager with a curfew."

She giggled. "Still..."

He held her tighter as if to let her know that he wasn't ready to let her go. They were in his bed, recovering from the hottest makeup sex in the history of mankind.

"I think you should move back here," he said wistfully.

"As what?"

"As a part of my family. You were a Beaumont once, remember?"

"That was then."

"Meaning?"

"You know what I mean."

"Can we start over? And this time, we'll have a proper relationship. We'll go on dates and do what couples in love do."

"Are we in love?"

"Aren't we?"

"I am. I don't know about you."

He turned onto his side to face her, then he held her chin up so that her eyes were level with his. "I love you, Emilia. I'm sorry I didn't show that when it mattered but it is the truth. I love you." Her heart melted with joy. This was the reassurance she'd been waiting for.

"I love you," she said softly. "I don't ever want to be apart from you again."

"Now, you're talking," he said with a chuckle. "Please, stay tonight. I'll call your parents to let them know."

"Ok."

He kissed her forehead, and they resumed their snuggling. They both felt at home in each other's arms.

"I still owe you a honeymoon trip," he said.

"Yeah... pay up, buddy."

He laughed. "Where would you like to go?"

"Mmm... How about France? I've always wanted to visit the Louvre."

"France, it is. We'll leave tomorrow."

"Tomorrow? Don't we have to book our flights first?"

"Ever heard of private jets?"

Emilia was thrilled. Morning couldn't come soon enough. When they announced their reconciliation to their families the next day, everyone was pleased.

Elsie apologized to Emilia. Lillian took her to five high-end boutiques to shop for her trip with Kane, and Chloe tagged along.

The press was already aware that Kane and Kendra had split up, so when Emilia was spotted with Lillian on a shopping spree, it started new speculations of a possible reconciliation.

"I can never get used to being photographed everywhere I go," Emilia complained. "It's so invasive!"

"Don't worry, darling. You'll be immune to it soon enough," Lillian assured her.

"I don't mind at all. I love the attention," Chloe said while posing for the paparazzi through the glass walls of the boutique.

When she returned to the mansion, Kane was eagerly waiting for her.

"I hope you saved your appetite because we'll be having a special dinner tonight," he informed her.

"Really? Where?"

"You'll see."

They boarded one of Kane's private jet and Emilia was mesmerized by the beauty of the plane. Her wonder doubled when she recognized a celebrity chef, stepping forward to welcome them to their seats. "Good evening, lady and gentleman," said Chef Adonis. "Here are your menus."

"Oh, my gosh!" Emilia squealed like an excited schoolgirl. "Am I dreaming?"

"Yes, Emilia. We're dreaming together," Kane laughed.

The jet took off into the air while the lovebirds enjoyed an exotic three-course dinner in the sky. Emilia was beyond impressed.

Their first day in Paris was spent indoors in their 7-star hotel suite. They made love all day and ate like hungry lions in-between.

By the next day, they were ready to explore the city of love. Kane was Emilia's tour guide. He showed her all the breathtaking spots in the city including the Louvre which she'd been dying to see. When they returned to their hotel suite later that night, they were too exhausted to do anything but sleep. In the morning, Emilia was eager to explore another part of Europe.

"I want to see Rome," she sighed dramatically.

"Done."

"Really?"

He checked his wristwatch. "If we leave in the next one hour, we could be there in time for brunch."

"Yes!"

Her excitement amused him. They had their first meal in Rome in the city's best restaurant. This was by far the most remarkable holiday experience of her life.

Kane bought her flowers and cheered her on when a street musician played his violin for her, and she danced happily like a child. They returned to their hotel and made love tenderly.

"It almost feels as if we've never been together before," she said while they relaxed under the covers.

"I know what you mean," he agreed. "This feels different... more wholesome."

They spent two more days in Italy before Kane announced that he was craving a special Mediterranean dish that only one restaurant in the world made so perfectly. "Where's it located?"

"Santorini."

"Greece?"

"Yes."

"Oh, my world! I've always wanted to go to Greece!" She jubilated.

"Well, you're in luck. Let's go, baby!"

Greece was everything she imagined it would be and more. Kane took her to the exclusive hilltop restaurant where they were served his favorite Mediterranean dish. "This food is the bomb!" She gushed.

"I told you so," he replied proudly.

As they ate, a band of classical musicians set up their stage in front of them and began to play some sonorous tune. It was unbelievably romantic.

"This is beautiful, Kane. Thank you."

"You're welcome, my love. I'm glad you're happy."

Their second course was cleared away and they were served dessert. It was her favorite chocolate mousse cake with a berry sauce.

She'd mentioned how she loved this dessert while they were in Paris, and she was pleased that he'd remembered.

"I never knew you were such a romantic," she commented.

"I didn't either. We're learning about me together."

She laughed. This was another Kane Beaumont entirely. The one she'd married months ago was someone else.

After their desserts were cleared away, they sat back and continued to enjoy the soft music from the band. The combination of the harp, violin, cello and flute, made Emilia sleepy. The waiter appeared again with a covered dish which he placed in front of her.

"What's this? Did you order another dessert for me? I couldn't possibly eat anything else. I'm stuffed."

"I hear you, Emilia. Why don't you open it and see what's inside?"

She lifted the lid and gasped when she saw what was on the dish.

"Is this what I think it is?" She asked tentatively.

"I'm not a mind reader. How could I possibly know what you're thinking?"

She grinned and set the lid aside. With a thumping heart and shaky hands, she picked up the square velvet box and opened it gingerly.

Her jaw dropped when she saw what was inside. It was the most exquisite diamond ring she'd ever seen in her whole life!

"Kane, what is this?" She whispered.

He stood up from his chair and went to kneel beside her. "Emilia, my love, my heart. Will you marry me, again?"

She was speechless. When she tried to speak, she choked on her tears. This was so unreal.

"I know I was a jerk when we were married before, but I promise you, I've learnt my lesson. I am ready to be a good, caring and loving husband to you." "Oh, Kane..."

"Losing you showed me just how much you mean to me. I love you so much, Emilia. I want us to spend the rest of our lives together, for better or worse."

"I choose for better," she laughed.

"Is that a yes?"

"Yes, Kane. I will marry you."

The restaurant staff cheered and sprinkled rose petals around the couple. Kane removed the ring from the box and slipped it on Emilia's finger. They sealed the moment with a kiss. "When did you plan all of this?" She asked him.

"This morning while you were in the shower. After that night you came back to me at the mansion, I knew I wanted you back for life."

"I don't even know what to say," she admitted. "I'm blown away."

"I'm happy to hear it. Shall we finish this in our hotel?"

"I thought you'd never ask."

They agreed to keep the engagement under wraps until they returned home. It was going to be a pleasant surprise for their families.

"Is it too early to start planning our wedding?" He asked her while relaxed in bed after a round of intense lovemaking.

"Slow down, lover boy. Let's tell everyone first."

"It's not like we need their permission."

"Fine," she laughed. "What do you have in mind?"

"How about a destination wedding? Somewhere the paparazzi won't hound us with their annoying cameras."

"Hmm... I like that. Any ideas about the location?"

"An ancient castle..."

"In the Irish Highlands..."

"Get out of my head. I love it!"

"Let's do it, babe. I can't wait to be your wife again."
