Chapter Nine

After a few more hours hanging out with the guys, my eyes started tofeel heavy and I yawned I decided it was time to head up to bed.

“I'm gonna head up goodnight”

I rose from the couch and made my way to the stairs, as I got to thesecond landing someone grabbed my hand I turned to see Drakeholding my hand in his I looked at him a tilted my head to the sidewaiting for him to say something.

"Aria I just wanted you to know you are safe here no one can hurt youanymore, and don't worry about your dragon it doesn't make you anyless of a person”

I could see the sincerity in his eyes swirling around, I smiled up at himwhile he was still holding my hand after a few more seconds ofstanding there I slid my hand from his.

"Thank you, Drake, I feel safe here, you guys mean so much to mealready and we haven't even known each other that long but you guysmake me feel safe, loved and cared for."

He smiled back at me standing tall “always Aria” I turned around andheaded down the hall to my room, I shut the door and laid my headagainst it, for once in my life I didn't fear my brother I didn't fearcoming home the only thing I feared was not knowing what was goingto happen in two weeks.

I walked over to the bed in the middle of the room and pulled theduvet back and slid in, it had been so long since I felt the comfort of agood mattress, I stared at the window across the room watching themoonlight trickling in and the shadows cast across the floor. My eyesstarted to feel heavy and before I knew it I was drifting into thedarkness.

I was dreaming of walking through a clearing in the woods it remindedme of the clearing where Dragus and I sat, the moon was high in thesky and the light illuminating the grass around me. I came to a stop inthe middle of the clearing standing there staring up at the sky the starstwinkled and the moon glowing

I heard a rustle behind me I slowly turned to see what the noise waswhen two pairs of eyes were staring back at me I couldn't see anythingelse as they hid in the shadows but the eyes they called to my soul. Iwas frozen on the stop waiting for what I'm not sure but I couldn't willmyself to move, after what seemed like an eternity the bodies thatthose eyes belonged to moved forward from the shadows and into themoonlight.

I gasped and my breath hitched as they stood there staring back at meDragus and Darian there were no sounds around us just the gentlebreeze. I didn't know what to say if I should say anything they didn'tseem to want to say anything either, as we stood there staring at oneanother I felt the breeze pick up around us I felt a knot form in mystomach and I started to feel sweat forming on my brow and run downthe side of my face, what is wrong with me I wondered why did I feellike this?

Dragus moved toward me never breaking eye contact with me as hestood a few feet away from me I felt my hands go clammy and tried towipe them down my shorts I didn't know why I was feeling like thisaround them I had never felt like this before so why now.

Dragus closed the distance between us until he was stood directly infront of me, I had to crane my neck to look into his golden eyes hetowered over me in all his glory I couldn't remove my eyes from his Ifelt like I was drowning in his golden pits, movement to my right forcedmy eyes away from Dragus and into Darian's hazel ones they bothstood staring down at me and not a word had been spoken.

Dragus lifted his hand to my face and his thumb ran across my cheek Ifelt tingles and sparks running across my cheek where his hand was andI leaned into his touch and closed my eyes, Dragus continued runninghis thumb across my cheek when I felt another hand grab mine and liftit I opened my eyes as Darian placed my hand on his cheek the feelingsending another wave of sparks through my arm they both continuedto stare at me as we held onto each other.

The breeze around us picked up and my hair started to whip aroundme and then I heard a small voice in the wind a voice I had never heardbefore whispered;

"MATES"

I jolted upright in bed from my dream the tingles still running acrossmy face and down my arm it felt so real like we were standing theretogether it wasn't a dream, I looked around my surroundings realising Iwas in my room in my bed it had to have been a dream and who'svoice was that, that I heard?

The questions running wild inside my head I couldn't have a mate letalone mates I don't have a dragon I reminded myself it was a dreamand a dream only but why did I feel the sparks and tingles even after Ihad woken up? Deciding it was best that I went back to sleep andforgot about the whole thing that's what I did

I was woken a few hours later with the sun streaming into my room theheat on my face and I could hear the birds chirping outside a smallsmile crept onto my face I hadn't woken this peacefully in a long time.I stretched out in my bed and decided I should get up, I made my wayto the bathroom and hopped in the shower I let the water fall over merelaxing me but I still hadn't forgotten that dream with Dragus andDarian what if it wasn't a dream?

I shook my head pushing the thoughts to the back of my mind today Ineeded to replace a job. I quickly finished up in the shower and gotdressed, I headed downstairs towards the kitchen I found the guys allaround the island in the kitchen drinking coffees.

"Hey, guys"

I made my way over to the coffee machine before Silas handed me acup I smelled the coffee and let out a little moan over the smell theothers must have heard me because they all started chuckling.

"That good huh” Landon smiled at me from across the other side of theisland, I nodded my head enthusiastically and smiled at him.

"So what's the plan for today guys?” Declan’s cheerful voice alwaysmade me feel happy.

"Well I need to go to the store Dana's going into work, Drake andSinclair are heading to the campus" Landon answered before glancingtowards me, I cleared my throat before answering.

“I'm going to replace out if there are any jobs going around here"

"I can come with you if you like, you know as a guide and all" Landonsmiled at me and I couldn't help but smile back.

"That would be great, I'm ready to leave when you are”

"Let me grab my keys"

I put my coffee mug in the sink as the others started to get up we allmoved into the entrance hall and got ready to leave once we weredone we all walked down the pathway to the gate and went ourseparate ways.

Landon walked beside me as we made our way down the pavementtowards the bars restaurants and coffee shops that littered the highstreet. Landon helped me pointing out which stores always had jobopenings I went into a few stores and spoke with a few managers whopromised to give me a call when there was an opening, I made my wayto the final coffee shop and spoke with the manager, she was a lovelywoman dark brown eyes slightly shorter than me with shoulder-lengthhair smiled back at me before letting me know that I could starttomorrow, I was so happy I found myself a job!

Once we left the store I started jumping up and down and grabbedhold of Landon hugging him he chuckled and hugged me back.

We started making our way back to the house my legs were achingfrom walking all day but I was happy Landon walked next to me and wechatted all the way back to the house. We made our way down the pathand to the front door Landon moved into the entrance hall and closedthe door behind me we could hear the guys in the entertainment roomlaughing with one another.

We walked down the hall and into the entertainment room, the guyswere playing pool and Dana was sat on the couch with a book in herhand. As we entered the room they all looked over to us and smiledDana was the first to say something.

"So how'd it go?"

I beamed her a smile and she threw her book onto the sofa jumped upand ran across the room to me slamming into me and pulling me into abone-crushing hug.

"I start tomorrow,” I said the guys made their way over from the pooltable and each gave me a hug telling me how proud of me they are. Iwas so overwhelmed with their support and love something I hadn't feltfrom anyone back home well apart from Ariel...Shit Ariel I haven't evencalled her since I've been here!

I thanked the guys and said I was heading up to my room as I left theroom I bolted to the stairs and up to my room I kicked the door shutand launched myself onto my bed while gripping my phone in myhand. I scrolled through my phone and found Ariel's number I pressedthe call button and waited while it rang.

"Aria is that you?"

"Hey, girl yeah it's me how are you? I'm sorry I haven't called I had somuch to sort out but I'm finally happy and settled now"

"Don't worry girl I knew you would need a few days to sort everythingI'm glad your happy you deserve it after everything”

We were chatting for about half an hour while I told her about the guysand how they had helped me and how we had become friends she toldme about the twins and how they had turned into a nightmare sincethey found out I left.

"They've been looking for you Aria, they've asked me god knows howmany times now where you are I haven't told them just that youneeded to leave to be happy”

I couldn't understand why they would be looking for me, my thoughtsdrifted to the dream I had a few nights ago and that one word that hadbeen whispered in the wind "MATES". My skin tingled at the memory ofmy dream and my cheeks flush god why was I blushing it was a damndream!

I was brought back to the present when Ariel's voice was ramblingdown the phone I couldn't hear anything she had said.

"I have no idea, Ariel, listen I need to go I'll call you when I can I loveyou Ariel stay safe"

I hung the phone up before I heard her reply and sat on the edge of mybed. I hope they don't replace me I don't want to be pulled back home towhere my brother was I was safe and happy here and I wouldn't letanyone take that away from me not now I've had a taste of what my lifeshould have been like all along...
