My Hunted Mate
Chapter One

Corinna

The darkness surrounded me as I lay in my bed, my grey eyes wideawake as I stared out the open window at the moon that shone brightlywith the stars. For the third time in three minutes, I glance at theglowing green numbers on the clock sitting on my bedside table. It hadofficially been my eighteenth birthday for three hours and threeminutes, and I was too excited to sleep, I had been waiting for this daysince I first shifted at the early age of twelve. When a wolf reaches theage of eighteen, they're officially ready to replace their mate.

As I stared out the window, I began wonder what my mate would belike and worrying if I'd be accepted by them. My thoughts were cutshort when I suddenly felt a sharp pain cut through my body, it leftafter a moment and as I was about to shrug it off, another hit, this timemore intense and lasting longer.

Muffling a whimper, I crawl from my bed making my way towards myfather's bedroom. I stood in front of his door about to knock on it,when another pain cut through me, unable to stop myself I let out aloud cry.

My father was standing at his door in a flash with worried eyes, at thispoint there were tears falling down my face as I hugged my armsaround myself, not knowing what was happening to me.

Another pain hit causing my body to crash to the floor and anotherloud cry to leave my lips, my father instantly lifted me into his arms andbegan running out of the house in a panic. We barely made it down thesteps on our porch before we were greeted by my uncle Cain, the alphaof our pack, along with my cousin Elliot.

" What's going on Thomas? * My uncle asks my father, glancing at myfather's arms where I was shaking and sweating.

"1. I'm not sure, she.. * my father stutters, obviously as confused as meabout this whole thing.

Another wave of pain hit and with this wave, I began to convulse, fallingfrom my father's arms onto the ground. I could hear my uncle orderingmy cousin to go fetch the pack healer as my father called for me in astate of panic, but it sounded very far away from me.

Sudden it was like a wave smashed against me as I felt a large surge ofenergy hit my body, as if I'd been shocked, my back arched from theground. I felt something building in me so aggressively, all I could dowas let out a powerful scream.

Then the pain was gone as if it was never there to begin with, but I feltstrange, different. I sat up on the ground panting, opening my mouthto tell my family that I was okay now, only to replace that my uncle andcousin who had returned with one of the pack healers were all on theground in front of our pack house, which was around 50 yards fromwhere I was sat in front of my house.

I turned to look at my father, he also wasn't there but my front porchwas in ruins. I quickly got up from the ground and ran to the porch, tossing random parts of the structure away.

* Dad?! " I shouted, my voice raspy surely from all the crying andscreaming.

As I tossed away another remain of the porch, I saw a hand. My father'shand. It didn't take long before I'd revealed the rest of him, he let out agroan as he opened his eyes, they widened as they fell on me. Hestruggled to sit but eventually did, scrambling away from me in theprocess.

" Get away from me! " he shouted.

My eyebrows furrowed and confusion washed over me. * Dad? "

" No! You are not my daughter. * He growled.

Automatically, I took a step backward, as if he words themselves hadshoved me. " w-wha- Dad... I- *

" No! I should've known, you'd be like her. " he cut me off.Immediately I knew who he was referring to, my mother. My motherwho had been my father's mate, my mother who lied and told everyoneshe was human, all the while hiding that she was a witch. When myfather found out, he felt was a mess, he felt he'd betrayed his pack -who hadn't been happy about him mating with a human to begin with, let alone another supernatural creature.

They planned to kill my mother, regardless of what it would do to myfather's wolf, but she escaped before that could happening, leaving atrail of dead pack members and me behind. I was only ten at the time,my father ended up begging my uncle to spare me, at least until Ishowed signs of what I was. I suppose we all thought I could only beone or the other, not both. Two years later, I shifted for the first timeand the matter was forgotten about.

" You're.. You're an abomination! " my father screamed.

Turning around my eyes widened I watched my uncle march towardsme, members of the pack had started crowding around, all of themstaring at me with hateful eyes.

"1 should've killed you years ago. " he hissed, glaring at me.

Tears gathered in my eyes rapidly, my breath came out in sharp pantsas I began to panic. " Please... " I cried, not knowing what to say.

My feet began backing away from the crowd instinctively, my unclegrowled loudly getting ready to shift into his wolf. Instantly I spunaround on my feet, taking off in a run toward the forest, toward theterritory line.
