My Husband Wants Me Dead (Esther and Bradley) -
Chapter 628
The household staff usually brought meals, but Oliver decided to serve Esther himself today. "Uncle," Esther softly called out.
"Would you like to take a walk in the garden, Esther?" Oliver suggested with a gentle tone. "Sure," she answered, feeling he had something important to discuss.
They sat down in the garden pavilion.
Esther's body was still fragile, and she pulled her clothes tighter against the breeze.
Oliver got to the point. "Esther, the family has approved your marriage to Chadwick."
She looked at him, puzzled.
Oliver lowered his voice, "This is part of a larger plan. I can't reveal all the details, but we won't sacrifice your happiness for family honor."
"Is there something you want me to do, Uncle?" Esther asked, suspecting the marriage was part of a bigger strategy.
Oliver shook his head. "No, focus on your recovery. If things don't go as planned, we'll have someone ready to help you." "Alright." Before Oliver's visit, Esther had been nervous, but his words strengthened her resolve.
"Esther, I'm truly sorry for what you're going through," he said, thinking about the Pendletons' questionable actions.
"Uncle, it's my fault for getting Chadwick's attention in the first place. Otherwise, our family wouldn't be in this situation."
Oliver chuckled lightly. "Don't blame yourself. Focus on your recovery. Our family will handle everything. You just need to play the role of the bride, understand?" Esther nodded.
"Go to your room and rest. I should leave now," Oliver said at the elevator.
He waited until the doors closed behind her before striding off with determination. Detailed plans needed attention to disrupt the Pendletons' wedding.
Oliver and Marcus worked smoothly together. With danger looming, they arranged a meeting between the two families.
Esther had nearly recovered and was officially discharged from the hospital, so she needed rest.
"Esther," Sadie began, unaware of the family's plans. "You're not seriously thinking about marrying that playboy Chadwick, are you?"
Esther exuded grace and intelligence in her custom-tailored green traditional outfit with a white fox shawl.
"Sadie, I always keep my word," she affirmed, holding Sadie's hand. "Do I look suitable for the occasion?"
"You look stunning. Chadwick is lucky," Sadie whispered, giving her a tight hug. "Why hasn't lightning struck that idiot?"
"Sadie..." Esther chuckled lightly at her cousin's comment.
As they finished their makeup, some Pendleton relatives entered, unaware of Esther and Sadie behind the partition. They whispered, "Why did Chadwick choose Esther, a divorcee, out of all women?"
"Be careful. She has the Quills' support."
"It's clever of the Quills to make her an in-law."
"You don't know that Chadwick initially wanted to marry Sadie. But the Quills couldn't risk losing her, the family's jewel."
"So, are you saying the Quills staged that incident at the banquet?"
"Well, Esther isn't really a Quill. Using her as a buffer against the Pendletons is a reasonable move."
