Misha

When my dad and I reach the cave where Damien and the other vampires live, I’m surprised to replace them waiting for us. They are all standing out in the field with suitcases in their hands. It’s as if they knew we would come, and I shape-shift back into a human.

Josie is held up by my arms but sinks down to the ground as I lock my eyes on the copy of my dad. Damien looks just like him, but his hair is snowy white instead of shiny black.

“You knew we were coming?” I ask, and nod at the bag by his feet. It’s dark, but I’m used to it and can see him perfectly.

“No, but the shadow demons are multiplying, and it’s a struggle to survive daily. So when I felt your presence and that of my brother’s—…” his eyes travel to my dad. There is a scowl on his face. “When I felt your presence, I told everyone we were finally leaving. The only reason you could be back must be to ask us to become allies, am I correct?”

As expected, Damien is sharp, and the other vampires are already looking ready to leave. It shocks my dad, who is rendered speechless. He stares at Damien, opens his mouth, closes it, and Damien sighs.

“I have no hard feelings about you killing mother… brother,” Damien wrinkles his nose at using the word ‘brother’ but then shrugs it off.

My dad, however, doesn’t look convinced. “You really don’t mind?”

“No, why should I? The woman was batshit crazy, and I’ve realized the rest of the family is wonderful,” he walks over to me, and we reunite in a bro-hug. Three claps on the back before we retreat. Once I’m looking back at him, Damien is grinning. “I’ve missed you, little man.”

I arch an eyebrow, amused. “Little man?”

“Shesh, you will always be a baby in your uncle’s eyes,” he curiously looks around, smiling wider once he sees Becky standing further away. “I was wondering where you went.”

Becky rolls her eyes. “Please, we both know I’m not the favorite and that you don’t care that I left.”

I’m surprised by her words, but Damien laughs before walking over to hug the life out of her. He pays no attention to Elijah or Josie, but it’s his style—those closest to him matters the most.

He will hug Becky for a while before paying attention to the others. I smile, then glance down once my dad walks over to me. He meets my eyes with a puzzled expression.

“Do you have enough magical power to open a portal long enough for all these people to leave the vampire realm?”

“I do, but…” I scratch the back of my head, laughing awkwardly. “I might have to refuel. Staying the night is probably the smartest before I attempt to open a new portal.”

“We can handle a day,” Damien says, looking at me again. “That way, you can also give me the details on why the vampires are needed. We aren’t dumb and realized you want us to fight for you.”

The other vampires nod and turn their heads toward me. They don’t look angered by being needed. In fact, they all seem excited.

It surprises me, and I’m hit with affection. Some of my characteristics come from being raised by vampires; these people are my family. They should belong to my pack, and I clear my throat.

“Brothers and sisters, I’m sorry our reunion isn’t happy. My pack is about to go to war against another pack. So I’m here to ask if the vampires would be willing to join my pack as equals to the werewolves.”

I’m nervous after I’ve spoken. My mate, my beautiful Josie, grabs my hand and squeezes it, knowing vampires are hard to bargain with. They are cunning creatures, and I’m unsure if—

“When are we leaving?” Someone asks, rather impatiently, I must say.

Another vampire, an older woman, strokes her chin thoughtfully. “Will we be given an apartment complex or something? Either way, it must have comfier pillows than the rocks in our cave.”

“I want to try human food—I have come up with a spell that lets us eat it without a problem! This way, I will get to taste ice cream!”

Many vampires get excited. Smiles stretch over their faces, and Marlan, an older vampire, walks over to me. She takes care of the youngsters in the cave or did when they existed. Becky and I were her problems whenever Damien couldn’t handle us.

“We will fight for you, Misha, but we need to know…” she looks back at the others, who are all listening to her speak. “We need to know where we will live in the human world. Sunlight is problematic. We have rings, but that doesn’t mean we like the light. We need a place that is… dark.”

In my stead, my dad walks forward. He might not be the Alpha anymore, but he has thought of this. I nod at him, giving him permission to speak, and he nods back before addressing the problem.

“We have an empty mansion on our territory. Almost as big as the one I’m living in with my family. Some of you can live there; those that won’t fit can come and live at the Alpha mansion. There are plenty of rooms.”

The vampire exchange looks, but Marlan doesn’t look convinced. She is the oldest and feels her responsibility is to ensure the vampires will be happy with what we offer. So she continues asking questions.

“And this mansion… is it up to date?” She folds her arms over her chest and studies us with narrowed eyes. “The last thing we want is to live in a renovation object.”

My dad grimaces. “It is a renovation object, but nothing I won’t be able to fix with my magic. I can rebuild it, paint the walls and enchant the furniture inside.”

A look of amusement crosses Marlan’s face. “Why would we need enchanted furniture?”

Some vampires giggle, and I’m rather entertained by this too. I don’t have the magic to enchant furniture. My mom claims I’m stronger than my dad, but I suspect she is wrong—I will become my powerful than my dad. But right now, he definitely has more magic than me.

“You don’t have a choice regarding the enchanted furniture… it sort of happens with my wild magic,” my dad snorts. “But the furniture is excellent at taking orders. In my mansion, there is a bookshelf working as a bartender. And then we have a locker assigned the position of luna Josie’s bodyguard.”

The vampires all snicker again, and even Marlan laughs. “We will take the mansion,” her smile grows. “With the enchanted furniture, thank you very much. I’ve always wanted a bookshelf to serve me a margarita.”

She can’t be serious. These vampires don’t drink alcohol, but her tone is friendly, and I know we have them on our side.

“I’m glad you accept,” I say loudly, and all eyes land on me. Being seen as a leader is strange, but I puff out my chest and try my hardest to sound like an Alpha. “We will leave first thing in the morning, but you can rest and pack your things for now,” I look at Josie. “I’m going to show my mate the grounds where I grew up and trained. So my dad will inform you about the enemy Alpha.”

Josie smiles at this, and it pulls me toward her. I can barely resist my mate any longer. Once we are alone in the forest, I will claim her gorgeous pregnant body.

My c**k likes that idea, but I’m trying my hardest to fight my arousal. I’m not wearing any clothes, and I wouldn’t want my pack to know the truth: I’m wrapped around Josie’s finger. I’m a whipped man, but I don’t really give a f**k about that.

Josie is mine, and she will become such a good mother. My heart flutters at the thought. My Josie. My Mate. My wife. Mine.
