Tarryn

“You have a carrying fetish,” I say in a low, shy tone and look up at Alex. I’m currently sitting in his lap, surrounded by his arms. It’s nice, but I feel rather awkward, especially since the girls that used to hang with Alex are all glaring at me as if I don’t have the right to sit on his lap.

“Would that be so terrible?” Alex murmurs and wraps his thick arms tighter around me. His chin is currently resting on the top of my head, and his hand gives my right breast a naughty little squeeze.

My cheeks burn in response, and I widget on his thighs. “I don’t mind, but… aren’t I heavy?”

“You’re not heavy,” his hot breath hits my arm, and I feel him move behind me. Large pecs touch my shoulders as he shifts to get comfortable on the bleacher we are sitting on. “But I would suggest you don’t move around that much. You’re awakening the beast.”

Even though his words aren’t meant to be sexy, I shriek and try to stand up from his lap, but Alex easily keeps me in place. He pins me down by gripping my waist, and I feel his lips curve into a smirk before he k****s my neck. Over and over again before whispering, “If there weren’t people here, you would be riding my c**k right now.”

“Alex!” I whisper-yell, beyond flustered. “You can’t just say that out loud! And you should set me down right now!”

He nuzzles his nose into the back of my head, inhaling. “Mhm, you smell so nice… that’s making me even harder. Do you know the best part? Tiny girl can’t escape from me.”

What is with this teasing?!

I’m pretty sure my eyes are close to bugging out of my head, and Alex laughs at me. He gives me a little bounce in his arms as if I weigh nothing and grins down at me as if he has just won a prize.

“You should see your face right now,” his tone is all playful. “It’s absolutely priceless. I wish I had my camera.”

“Why?” I growl at him, low enough so no one else can hear. “Because I’m pretty sure I’m giving you a death glare right now!”

He breathes a laugh. “Are you mad at me?”

“Yes, I am!” I declare. “Just because you’re bigger than me doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want! Respect, Alex! Put me down, and stop teasing me with your hard-on!”

“Sorry.” He says, but he doesn’t look sorry at all. No, my handsome mate looks mischievous and like he is having too much fun. “I just forget myself when I’m around you. Teasing you is my favorite hobby. You’re so cute when you blush.”

I pout at him like a petulant child. “You can tease me at home, but not here, Alex. Your huge…” I can’t finish that sentence without blushing and exhaling. “Your huge c**k is making me hot and bothered, and that’s inappropriate for the situation.”

“Aww, are you hot and bothered for me?”

“Stop teasing me, you d**k!”

He chuckles and k****s my ear. “You’re adorable, you know that, right? I’m lucky you’re mine. You and I were made for each other.”

I glance toward the female werewolves in the pack and frown. “Your fan club doesn’t seem to agree… they are all looking at you like hyenas eyeing a steak.” Probably because he hasn’t marked me…

Alex growls in my ear without looking in their direction. “I don’t give a f**k about them… you’re the only woman I want.”

So he does want me!

Joy soars in my chest, and I lean further into him. “It makes me happy to hear that you want me.”

“Mhm, but it makes me miserable to know that my mate has a thing for warrior werewolves when I’m not part of that community.”

“What?” I ask, shocked at his sudden accusation. “Where did you get that idea from?!”

“Please. You’ve been starry-eyed since the first duel,” Alex says, shocking me with his words. But before I can make an excuse, he continues talking. “No worries, though. I will become the Beta of the Grimfang pack, then you will look at me with heart-shaped eyes.”

“Alex…” I sigh in frustration. “I already look at you with heart-shaped eyes! You don’t have to prove anything to me.”

“Lies,” he mutters. “I want my mate to replace me sexy, and you seem to like strong men, so I have to prove myself by taking part in today’s battles. Who knows, maybe I will last against Misha?”

Worry slashes my chest at the thought of Alex battling against our scary, hybrid Alpha, and I clutch his hand. I bring it to my chest, where my heart is frantically pounding with fear. Can he feel it too?

I k**s his knuckle. It does nothing to calm me, but I hope it will prove to Alex that I support him. Even my voice is softer. “Be careful when you battle the Alpha, Alex. Misha has very powerful ice magic—he could end you! You have to be very attentive to his moves!”

“I know.”

“Don’t try to last longer than a minute just because you’re trying to impress me, okay?”

Alex snorts and rolls his eyes; I can feel it without even being faced with him. I just know he is making a face.

“I won’t be going down that easily… stop thinking I’m about to die.”

Regardless of his words and confidence, my concern grows, and I squirm in his lap. “Seriously, Alex. Don’t underestimate the Alpha!”

“I’m underestimating Misha, but you’re underestimating me,” Alex says in an upset tone. “Believe it or not, but I can fight! I’m good at it too! I had to survive for years in the other dimension. And I’m your mate, Tarryn—don’t you have any faith in me?”

“I do, but Misha is strong!” I sob and hug him tighter. I’m suddenly feeling emotional, worried that my big, cuddly mate will get hurt in the battle. “Promise me that you will surrender if things get bad, okay?”

“Never.”

“What?!” Tears are prickling behind my eyelids. “Why not?”

He sighs, but his tone goes soft when he sees my concern for him. “Listen, Tarryn, I’m not dumb enough to think I’m stronger than the Alpha, but Misha underestimates me. That will be his mistake because I also have some tricks up my sleeve.”

I pout. “Those tricks better be good because it looks like you’re about to fight against Misha first,” I glare at the Alpha. He is waving at us, but his gesture doesn’t feel friendly. Not when I’m rooting for Alex.

“Hey Alex, how do you feel about fighting me first?” Misha shouts. “If you win, I will make you my Beta without you even having to face the other competitors. How about it? I’m bored and think a duel between us could be fun. And don’t worry. If you lose, it just means you have to win against the other pack members.”

Please say no. Please say no.

Alex chuckles behind me and lifts me off his lap in one motion. “As you wish, my Alpha. Let’s duel.”

I glance up at my mate, worried that he might have taken water up over his head. But Alex winks at me and grins. His face is the image of mischief.

“Don’t worry,” he says. “I got this. Have some faith in me, okay?”

I take a deep breath and let it all out before forcing a smile. “I hope you know what you’re doing.”
