My Jealous Alpha Stepbrother -
Chapter 131
Tarryn
When we enter an abandoned building in the middle of what I can only describe as hell or where a greater apocalypse has happened, I realize this is where Alex has lived for ten years.
It’s an apartment complex; when we enter it, there is furniture: a couch, a bed, and countless rooms. It’s creepy, especially since the wasteland looks like our world but like something destroyed it.
“So, this is where I lived for ten years… or nine… it took a while for me to replace this place,” he scratches behind his fox ear. “My family in the real world owned this apartment many years ago. I’m unsure how, but the rooms even have our picture frames, and all the furniture is the same as it was back then. Even the toys.”
“That’s insane…” I whisper.
“Agreed.”
I walk down the corridor, creeped out by the paintings on the walls as I search for a bedroom. I settle for the one furthest away and open the door, peeking inside. “It will be a little creepy staying the night here.”
“It seemed like the best apartment to stay in. Since I’m familiar with it.”
I notice that Alex’s hand is on another door handle. It perplexes me, and I lift my eyebrows at him. “Aren’t you staying in the same room as me?”
Alex gives me a sad smile. “Look, I know you only said you’re in love with me only because you’re scared of me. So if you want me to sleep in another room, that’s fine.”
“No, that would be weird,” and scary. I want my mate to be close in this strange world.
There is a huff of laughter. “Wouldn’t it be weirder sleeping beside me? I mean, look at me. I have tails now.”
“No,” I tell him, shaking my head. “You’re still you, and since we are both naked, those tails will probably be warm.”
He looks me up and down, definitely checking me out. Then I’m given a grin where I can see all his little sharp fangs. “If you want to cuddle, I have no complaints.”
My heart pounds faster the longer I see his smile. Am I crazy for still being helplessly in love with Alex, even if he can turn into a murderous fox? I don’t know, but I’m filled with this need to show him that the tails and the ears don’t make me like him any less.
“Let’s get into a room, hot stuff,” I wink at him and grab his hand to pull him along, stunning him speechless.
“Hot stuff?” His sharp grin spreads wider as he lets me drag him into one of the rooms.
“Yes,” I say, eyeing him over my shoulder. “You’re hot.”
A red color tints his cheeks, but he still doesn’t seem convinced that I mean my words. “You really think that?”
“YES!” I exclaim, laughing. “Now get in here. I’m getting cold from running around naked, which is saying something since I’m a werewolf.”
Alex just smiles, and I let go of his hand to move the bedsheets for us. I don’t think he has used this room before.
“It’s creepy that these—” I pick up one of the pillows, inhaling it. “Smell like detergent,” I look at Alex. “Don’t you think that’s weird? What is this world, and why does it have all your family’s stuff in it?”
“I don’t know.”
“Do you think this world is somehow related to you? What if we are inside your nightmares or something?”
He blinks repeatedly. “How would that even be possible?”
I shrug and slide underneath the blankets. “You have new powers now—it could be related to that. Don’t you think so?”
“Maybe,” Alex hesitantly takes the spot beside me. “Are you sure you’re fine with me sleeping beside you?”
I bump his arm with my shoulder. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
“Because of everything that happened…”
My lips turn into a thin stretch as I suck them into my mouth. “That wasn’t your fault. I thought we went over this?”
“It begs to be repeated,” Alex lies down to face me in the bed. His red tails are resting behind him, curled along his legs.
I reach out to touch one, and he winces. It confuses me. “Don’t you like it when I touch you?”
He avoids my eyes. “I’m not… normal.”
Even though I’m hesitant, I grab one of his ears, gently squeezing it as if it had been made of gummy. “They are so soft.”
“But weird…”
“No, I like them,” I giggle at his perplexed expression. “It’s true! I do! They are really cute!”
His lips curve, and again, I see those charming sharp teeth. “Cute enough to touch you?”
“You can touch me, but you must promise me something.”
Alex pokes my belly with a finger. I’m too tired to be embarrassed over my slight flab. “What is it that I have to promise you?” He looks up into my eyes again, smiling faintly.
I scoot closer to him, placing my palm on his chest. “You have to learn how to control your… new form.”
He softly peers down at my hand and places his larger one over mine, squeezing affectionately. I’m doing my best not to be distracted by his chiseled abs or the teasing look in his eyes.
“I will… try…” he takes a deep, painful breath. “No promises, though. I’m… I’m a monster, Tarryn.”
“You might be a monster, but you’re not a bad person.”
He wrinkles his nose. “Perhaps.”
“You are,” I say determinedly.
Alex smiles and pulls me into his big body, wrapping his arms around me in a hug. I’m entirely surrounded by him. His red tails act like tendrils, curling around me as if they are also craving love and affection.
He is sweet, and my heart swells when he rubs his cheek against me to put his scent on me. I’m a little disappointed he isn’t making any sexy moves on me, though. Like why isn’t his hand lower?
No hand is traveling between my legs, and neither are there any k****s on my breast. Alex is just holding me close, seeming to just want to be skin-to-skin with me. Do I have to be the one to initiate things?
“Alex?”
“Hmm?” He hums above my head, where his nose is busy nuzzling into my hair. It’s like he can’t get enough of my scent. Do I really smell that good to him? Doesn’t matter. I need to focus on the task at hand.
I clear my throat. “Do you want to f**k?”
