My Jealous Alpha Stepbrother
: DAMIEN BONUS STORY 7

Damien

I wish my heart would stop pounding. I invited Melissa to dinner at my family’s grand mansion because she wanted to meet everyone. But I’m so worried my family is going to spend the entire night pestering my mate. They have already been teasing me for five f*****g hours!

“Man…” Avery, my pest of a brother, is filling a glass with whiskey while grinning. We are standing by the minibar inside the kitchen. “I can’t believe a woman can actually stand you. Melissa must be the nicest human on earth because, trust me, being with a man as grumpy as you must be exhausting. You sure she isn’t an angel in disguise?”

I growl at him and grab my glass of whiskey, clinking around the ice just because I know he hates the sound. I feel a sting of satisfaction when his eyes briefly narrow—got you, sucker.

“You should stop calling me grumpy. I’m not grumpy, but you’re right about Melissa—she is an angel. She might not be a vampire like me, but she is definitely more special than other humans. Clearly, some of them are born with more brain cells, and my mate is the best.”

“Of course, she is,” Avery rolls his eyes with a smug smile on his lips before taking a sip and then slamming down the cup on the table. “We all think that about our mates. In my eyes, my wife is the best woman out there.”

I grimace, feeling like I have to admit Lydia is pretty nice since she is cooking us all dinner.

“Wait…” Avery, who definitely read my mind just now, gives me a creepy smile. “Did you just compliment my wife? You, my brother, who is never nice, complimented her?! Oh my god, it’s time to celebrate—Melissa has made you a changed man!”

My eyes narrow at his obvious sarcasm while my cheeks burn. This is why I didn’t want to bring my mate here! I should call her and tell her to turn around the car—my family is nuts!

But before I can even move to grab my phone, the sound of the doorbell rings through the mansion. With a sigh, I place my glass down and head towards the door while Avery calls after me, “Go get your mate, grumpy.”

I roll my eyes, ignoring his teasing, as I reach for the door handle. As I pull open the door, my breath catches in my throat at the sight of Melissa standing before me. She’s dressed in a simple yet elegant black dress that hugs her curves in all the right places. She isn’t wearing one of her wigs and has decided to go bald.

So daunting and brave.

I like it.

“Hi,” she says with a shy smile, and I feel my heart skip a beat. “Sorry, I’m a little late. Traffic was terrible.”

I shake my head, still caught up in how stunning she looks. I kind of want to skip dinner, take her to my room, and peel that dress off her gorgeous body. But I swallow that thought and inwardly growl at my c**k to behave.

Dinner first, then s*x.

“Don’t apologize,” I say, taking her hand. “You look beautiful.”

Melissa’s smile widens as I pull her inside, and she steps forward with glittering eyes that travel to my lips. I smirk. She wants me to k**s her, but my little shortie of a mate can’t reach that high. How amusing.

I peer down at her, all tease and playfulness. “Is someone expecting a k**s?”

Melissa’s cheeks flush, and her eyes dart around the hallway as she fidgets with her hair. “N-no, of course not. I just thought—”

But before she can finish her sentence, I lean down and press my lips to hers. It has become a tradition in our relationship to interrupt the other with a k**s.

And I can’t look away from tradition, can I?

I k**s her harder, and Melissa m***s into my mouth. Her lips are soft and plump, and I can’t help but add some tongue, pulling her closer to me. Our tongues dance together as I wrap my arms around her waist, lost in the feel of her against me.

But then I hear Misha clear his throat loudly from the kitchen, and I reluctantly pull away, grinning down at Melissa. “Let’s go eat, shall we?”

Melissa nods, her face still flushed as she follows me into the dining room. The table is set with fine china and silverware, and my family is already seated, chattering loudly. Lydia stands up to greet us, a warm smile on her face.

“Melissa, it’s so nice to meet you,” she comes up to hug my mate, patting her back before leaning away with her hands still resting on Melissa’s shoulders. “Is Damien treating you well? You know that you can come to me if he treats you poorly, right? We are all used to Damien’s grumpiness.”

I shoot Lydia a glare. “Hey!”

She ignores me, and Melissa laughs softly, her eyes twinkling. “Oh, Damien is treating me very well, thank you. And don’t worry, I can handle him.”

Lydia winks at her before turning to me. “Damien, why don’t you pour us all some wine? We have a lovely bottle that we’ve been saving for a special occasion.”

I nod, grateful for the distraction, and head over to the wine rack. As I’m selecting a bottle, I feel a presence behind me, and I turn to see Melissa standing there, her hands clasped behind her back.

“Everything okay?” I ask, a hint of concern in my voice.

Melissa nods, but her eyes are filled with nervousness. “Can I ask you something?”

“Of course,” I reply, setting the bottle down on the counter.

Melissa takes a deep breath before speaking. “Your family… they seem really nice. But also a little… intense.”

I chuckle at her. “This is why I didn’t want you to visit them so soon. They are all either hybrids or werewolves, basically immortals, and they easily get bored of each other. So now that you’re new, you’re like their new favorite toy. They are going to interview you all night. Especially Becky. She is a vampire and a friend of a family. I basically raised her.”

“Oh…” Melissa seems taken aback. “I didn’t know you had a daughter?”

“Daughter?!” I almost choke. “No, she is not my daughter! She just lost her own parents and…I guess I raised Misha too? For a while. He was going through something and left his dad to come and live with me, the funcle. You know, uncle and fun: funcle.”

Melissa just stares at me like I’m crazy. s**t. Did I give her too much information at once? Also, since when do I c***k jokes? Funcle? Really?!

“I see…” she swallows thickly. “And this Kit person that is together with your umm… great grandchild Michelle?”

“Michelle is Misha’s daughter.”

“Oh…right…umm… anyway, what kind of creature is Kit exactly? The guy is purple. Is he some sort of werewolf?”

“Werewolf?” I snort. “No, don’t be silly. He is a demon.”

Melissa’s eyes widen in shock. “A demon? Like…from Hell?”

I nod, reaching for the bottle of wine and uncorking it. “Yup. Kit is a demon who decided to switch sides and work with us instead of against us. He didn’t come from hell, but eh, let’s just roll with that. This is a lot of information for you.”

Melissa looks like she wants to ask more questions, but at that moment, Avery calls out to us from the dining room. “Hey lovebirds, you coming or what?”

I roll my eyes at my brother’s teasing but take Melissa’s hand and lead her into the dining room. As we take our seats, my family’s attention turns to us, and I can feel Melissa’s nervousness rise again.

But I’m there for her, and I give her hand a reassuring squeeze. “It’s going to be fine,” I whisper to her.

And it is. As we eat dinner and chat with my family, Melissa relaxes and even starts to laugh at some of their jokes. And as the night comes, she joins me inside my bedroom.

As I close the door behind us, Melissa turns to face me, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. “That was… interesting,” she says with a small smile.

I chuckle softly, pulling her close to me. “Yeah, my family can be overwhelming at times.” I lean down and capture her lips in a searing k**s, my hands roaming over her curves as I pull her even closer.

Melissa melts into me, her hands sliding up my chest and tangling in my hair. She m***s softly as I deepen the k**s, our tongues tangling together in a sensual dance.

As we break apart for air, I can tell there is something on her beautiful mind.

“What?” I ask.

Her insecurity comes into full bloom with that simple question, and she slumps her shoulders. “How can you be fine being with a normal human when everyone downstairs is some sort of freaky amazing hybrid with magical powers?”

I raise an eyebrow at her. “You really think I would pick a partner based on their magical powers?”

Melissa shrugs, looking down at her feet. “I don’t know. It just seems like everyone else is so… extraordinary. And I’m just… ordinary.”

I cup her face in my hands, forcing her to look at me. “You are anything but ordinary, Melissa. You are amazing, and I love you for who you are, not what powers you possess.”

She smiles up at me, her eyes sparkling with gratitude. “Really?”

“Really,” I confirm before leaning down to capture her lips in a sweet k**s, but she pushes at my chest. I blink down at her, curious about what she has to say. “Yes?”

“You’re really fine with me being so…normal?”

“Yes,” Her insecurity is killing me right now. I hug her to me and press my nose to her head, inhaling her sweet scent. “You’re everything to me, and besides, I don’t want to be with someone who is magical. Not when I already have enough magical powers to deal with.”

She giggles. “What sort of powers do you have?”

“First off: compulsion. I can make people listen to my every command by speaking to them in an enchanting voice. I can also open portals, and then you already know about my telepathic abilities.”

“Mhm, can you shape-shift?”

I smirk. “I sure can.”

“Can you do that for me?”

I snort. “Inside the bedroom?”

“Pretty please. It would be great.”

My heart swells, and my voice goes soft. “What animal do you have in mind?”

“How about you turn into a unicorn and let me ride you in the forest? I’ve never been on the back of a horse before.”

“Really?” I’m beyond shocked.

“Yes, really.”

“Well, we can’t have that, can we?”

I wink at her before stepping away to focus on the transformation. I can feel the magic coursing through me as I start to change, my body elongating and shifting until I am no longer Damien but a majestic unicorn with a white coat and a spiraled horn.

Melissa’s eyes widen in amazement, and she takes a tentative step forward to touch my snout. I nuzzle her hand affectionately, my heart swelling with love for this amazing, stunning woman who has captured my heart.

‘Ready to go for a ride?’ I ask through telepathy.

Melissa nods eagerly, and I lower my head to allow her to climb onto my back. She settles herself into position, her arms wrapping around my neck for support as I take off at a gallop, leaving the confines of the bedroom through the open window and heading out into the forest beyond.
