My Mate Is A Witch -
Chapter 48
Sila was silently observing Caroline in the Orphanage when she came here to share stories with the kids. She couldn’t feel it but was overwhelmed with the thought that Caroline was grown up with high moral values and was raised by great parents.
Yes, parents.
She came to know from her that she was raised in a family when she was telling stories to the kids and how her grandpa used to tell stories to all her siblings at night. She wanted to know about Caroline’s parents and other details. That was why she asked Pablo whether he had her documents, but he replied that Caroline had taken them back, stating that since she wasn’t the employee, she didn’t have to submit her details.
In short, there was no way Sila couldn’t know about Caroline’s past life until she would tell her by herself, but that wouldn’t happen until she would talk to Caroline, and she couldn’t muster the courage to talk with Caroline because she felt like that it was her mistake that Caroline ended up losing her real parents.
“Do you want to say something?” Caroline asked when she observed a lady in her fifty looking at her without blinking her eyes. She had been observing that lady for the past few days. She always used to visit the Orphanage during the evening time and used to stay there for a while, and on that horse, she used to keep observing her silently. By judging her clothes and jewelry, she could tell that the lady belonged to a rich family.
Whenever she used to look at Caroline, her eyes held pain and longness.
“Nothing. Just thinking that your parents are blessed to have a daughter like you.” Sila commented, looking at her niece, who had no idea about the relationship they shared.
“My parents are not blessed to have me. But I’m blessed to have them.” Caroline corrected her and smiled, looking at her. She was about to leave when Sila finally gathered the courage to speak in front of her.
“If you don’t mind, can you spend some time with me?” Sila asked and quickly added. “You remind me of someone whom I lost years back.”
“Oh,” Caroline muttered. “I’m sorry to hear that.” She said and sat beside Sila.
“What’s your name?” Sila asked. ‘She looks almost the same as her mother except for her black hair. That is like her… her father, my brother, and me.’ She mentally thought.
“Caroline, my close one, call me Caro.”
“Beautiful name, Caroline. Do you know the meaning of your name?”
“Yes, I do. ‘Beloved and Valuable.” Caroline replied. “And mom and dad say that I’m the most valuable thing of their life.” She added with a big smile on her face.
“I’m glad to hear that. So, Caroline, since when you have been spending your time in the Orphanage? Because you look quite confident about everything that you do.”
“To be honest, I don’t remember exactly. Maybe from my seventh birthday when Mom and dad told me that I’m not their real daughter. Dad found me in an orphanage, where a lady left me stating that she didn’t want me because she didn’t want a girl child.”, Caroline replied.
“That’s not true.” Sila quickly said. Caroline looked at her in confusion. “I mean… I doubt people really have this mentality in this era.” She said, trying to change her sentence. She knew that Caroline was a witch too. It wouldn’t be too hard to replace out the truth for her if she would use her power.
“My mom said the same,” Caroline said. “She said that there could be thousands of reasons to leave me for that lady. We shouldn’t judge people by their words. Because the lady who left me there was in a hurry, and she left from there quickly.”
“Wow! Now, I understand from where this positive attitude and good moral education is coming.” Sila commented and mentally made a note to meet her parents soon. “I want to meet them. Is that possible?”
“I’m sorry but they don’t stay here.”
“Then where? I won’t mind meeting your parents even if they are a continent apart because, in that way, I can ask your hand for my son?” She said the latter line with a wink.
Caroline laughed, shaking her head. “I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I’m already married.” She replied. “But if we will be in touch then I will make sure to introduce you to my mom.”
‘We will surely be in touch with each other, Caroline.’ Sila thought.
“By the way, you were telling the kids you still like hearing stories.” Sila pointed out.
“Yes. That’s true, and my grandpa is a great storyteller.” Caroline said, recalling her grandfather Logan.
“I have a story to tell. Do you want to hear me out?”
“Sure. Why not? Let me call out all the kids.” Caroline said and was about to call the kids when Sila held her hand.
“No. Don’t call them. It’s just a half story, so they might get upset at the end. One has to complete the other half by listening to the first half of the story.”
“Oh, umm.. Okay! What’s the story?” Caroline asked and thought to complete the story into a happy ending one day in the future.
