My Mate Is An Omega -
Chapter 46
Lancaster POV
Two days went by before I successfully managed to contact Mariners Moon Pack. It wasn't surprising that one of the biggest packs in the entire United States was so busy, but it was definitely worth the wait. I spoke directly to their Alpha, who was very kind and understanding of our situation; having two ally skulks in Canada, she was well-aware of how dangerous bears were. Coincidentally, she was traveling here in a week to have a meeting with one of her allies, so she happily agreed to come a day earlier to pay us a visit. There would be no formal meetings, no business discussions - we would just talk. Honestly, it was the perfect scenario because we didn't have the resources to arrange a deal with such a powerful pack. Still, it was my responsibility as a leader to make sure they would have a wonderful stay despite our current situation. I personally spoke to our staff to ensure all of our three guest Alpha suites would be ready to receive them in four days. I also requested the preparation of a gourmet welcome dinner that would be held upon their arrival.
After lunch, Caitlyn was with me in my office helping me arrange the final details for Mariners Moon's visit when my Delta walked in. She handed me the last reports I had asked her to prepare regarding our business - it was a list of our new lumberjacks and builders. They would be intensively trained by our pack's current members in the same positions, but they would work exclusively for our company. For once, things were starting to look up, leaving us feeling much more confident. "Well, it looks like we're done for the day," I announced as I put the signed papers away. "Is there anything you would like to do, beautiful?"
She blushed as she looked away shyly. My mate was so damn cute. "Megan and Luke are going on a date today. I was thinking maybe we could have one too?"
"Of course." I gently pulled her by the hand, gesturing for her to sit on my lap. I didn't hesitate before wrapping my arms around her, simultaneously kissing her warm red cheeks. "I can get the private driver to take us downtown in the limo. We could catch a movie, go shopping, have dinner in a nice restaurant. How does that sound?"
"It seems awesome, but..." The second she looked into my eyes, the whole world disappeared. "I was actually thinking we could do something less extravagant, you know? I kinda miss the old days when we were just two Omegas without a care in the world," she confessed, surprising me. Honestly, I felt the same way, but it still warmed my heart how she would rather relive our simple moments together. It proved that I was already enough for her when I barely had any money. "Don't you miss carving your statues?" Her sweet voice pulled me back from my thoughts. "I do, actually."
"We might have enough time to go back to our hobbies now," she pointed out, an excited smile on her face. "The other day I was thinking we could grow a community vegetable garden at the town square. I would love working on that."
I couldn't resist the urge to pull her closer and give her a quick peck in the lips. "I'm an Alpha now, and you're my Luna. We have enough power to do whatever we want to. Your every wish shall come true." She giggled, and I kissed her one last time before pulling her up.
Once we left the office, we stopped by our room to change into some more comfortable clothes before heading to the steel storage shed where we kept most of the pack's resources, such as building materials and various equipment. I had to link a few Omegas to help us carry everything back to the town square; not only was the shed located relatively far from the main part of the territory, but I also underestimated the amount of materials we would need.
It was around two o'clock when we reached the site Caitlyn had chosen for the community garden. She decided it would be best to have it along one of the sides of the dining hall, offering easy access to the kitchen staff. The weather was very pleasant; it wasn't too hot despite the sun being high-up in the sky, thanks to the mild afternoon breeze. It was definitely a wonderful day to spend outside.
While my mate prepared the earth, I built a simple fence to delimit the area designated for the garden. It felt good to go back to working with my own hands, relaxing even. Ever since I became Alpha, all I did was read and sign papers. I didn't even realize how much I missed doing something so laborious - something I was truly good at. It took me less than an hour to finish the fence, and as tempting as it was to just sit and watch my lovely Luna give life to her new project, I felt it would be a great opportunity to work on a surprise for her.
It had been a long time since I last gave her a special gift anyway.

Caitlyn POV
It was a lot of work to build a whole community garden on my own, but I didn't mind it at all. In fact, it was a truly calming task. We didn't get to spend as much time outside as we used to, and it definitely took a toll on us. Werewolves became stronger when in connection with nature; it gave our animal side energy. Faye was clearly more relaxed while I had my feet over the grass, my hands on the earth, and the sun on my back. It was also heartwarming to watch my mate so concentrated on carving a new statue. I tried to get a glimpse of what he was creating, but it was hard to see as he had his back turned to me, his big body hiding most of the wood piece.
"Luna Caitlyn!" A slightly familiar voice called from behind me.
As I turned around, I was surprised to replace the sun going down; it should be around four already. Once my shock was gone, my eyes finally landed on the three girls standing a few feet away from me. They were the Kappas whom I had met just days after I joined Diamond Tempest. Despite our rough start, they had come to me a few times while I was still working as Dario's assistant, mostly to seek my help with issues they were facing. I heard from Sasha that one of them had recently become a warrior. However, we couldn't recall talking to them a single time after I stepped in as Luna - probably because I was rarely out of the pack house.
"Hi girls!" I waved at them, and they returned the gesture. "Do you need anything?"
"Actually, we were wondering if you would like some help? Seems like you've got a lot of work in your hands," Joanna observed.
"Oh." I blinked a few times, pondering about their unexpected offer. I glanced over at Lance, who seemed to have heard our exchange; he winked at me encouragingly. When I turned back to the girls, I smiled. "Sure." "Just one question..." Another one of the she-wolves c****d her head to the side. "What exactly are we doing?"
I quickly explained my idea to them. Surprisingly enough, they were quite thrilled about it. Once they started helping me, it was much easier to do everything. Since the only females I interacted with were Sasha and Megan, it was also nice to break the routine and talk to them. A few other pack members stopped by when they noticed us working and asked to join us, which I promptly accepted. I guess they had so much fun building the bar that they were eager to take part in a similar activity. In the end, James was right; the event did help strengthen our bond with our pack.
The only difference was, they didn't get to see the result of their hard work immediately after we finished, considering it would take roughly around a month for us to be able to harvest any of the vegetables we had planted. However, it didn't seem to diminish their satisfaction, and only heightened mine. The sky was already quite dark when we were done; it was probably around eight. The pack members thanked me before they started to disperse. Only then I realized Lance was nowhere to be found. I was immediately confused; it wasn't like him to just disappear without notifying me.

"Hey, what are you up to?" I asked him via the mindlink.
"Oh, hey beautiful. Are you done?" He replied instantly, as if he was just waiting for me to reach out to him. He didn't wait for my response before he went on. "I finished the statue I was working on and decided to come back to our room to take a shower. You seemed really absorbed in your project, especially after half of our pack surrounded you." He chuckled. "I didn't want to disturb you. I'm sorry I left without a warning." "That's okay. Can I see your newest piece?" I didn't bother hiding my excitement, making him laugh.
"Of course. I can't wait to show it to you."
"Alright, I'm coming up!"
I rushed upstairs, trying my best not to get dirt all over the marble floors. As soon as I walked into our room, my attention fell on the half-naked man wearing a sassy smile. He was hiding something behind his back, but he only showed it to me after taking a few steps closer. A loud gasp escaped my lips when my eyes landed on the very detailed statue.
It was a flawless, life-size bust sculpture of me.
He also held out a polaroid picture he had taken of me during one of our many hangouts with our friends using Sasha's instant camera, back when none of us had titles yet. His newest statue was an identical replica of that moment. It was surreal how he managed to represent my features so realistically without even using colors. I wanted to say something, but I was completely speechless as I stared at my wood-self.
"Please tell me you like it. It was a lot of work," Lance said jokingly, but I could identify a hint of nervousness in his tone.
"I... I love it," I finally said, my voice barely a whisper. "It's perfect, Lance. It truly is." For the first time, I took my eyes off the statue to look at him. "But you didn't have to go this big."
"I know, but I wanted to." He shrugged happily, carefully placing his newest piece over the chest of drawers. "Ever since I sculpted Faye, I knew the next thing I wanted to sculpt was you," he revealed sincerely, staring straight into my eyes.
I had to fight back the urge to hug him, not wanting to get him dirty. "Thank you so much. I love you."
"I love you too, beautiful. Now, how about we go take a shower?"
I arched an eyebrow at him. "We? You just had one. You're completely clean!"
When the sassy smile was back on his face, I knew he was up to no good, but I didn't have time to react. He quickly wrapped me in a bear hug, getting dirt all over his chest.
"Oops. I think I need another one," he said playfully.
"You're unbelievable!" I laughed.
However, I wouldn't complain. There was no better way to end our perfect day than by having a nice, relaxing shower together. And lying in bed naked afterwards, of course.
