My Mate Is An Omega -
Chapter 49
Lancaster
POV
As the days went by, we slowly watched our project get off the ground.
In only one month, we managed to get two more alliances - one with Frost Wing, another fox skulk, and one with Snow Pelt, a lynx clan. The negotiations for the latter were mainly handled by my Luna, since werecats preferred to discuss business with other females; they believed women to be more intellectual than men. Honestly, when it came to Caitlyn and I, they definitely weren't wrong. She was the brains, and I was the brawn, which is why we made such a good team. Among a thousand other reasons. Following Mariners Moon team's advice, I managed to convince each of our three newest allies to send some of their men and women to live with us; the leaders would come every seven days to check on their people. The members of our pack weren't thrilled about the idea at first, but I knew transparency would be essential to make everything work. I briefly informed them about my plan to fight the bears and how it wouldn't be possible without uniting with other species of shifters. It was the first step to get them to cooperate without having to use force, and it thankfully worked. After the many changes my mate and I made to improve Diamond Tempest, they seemed to finally be trusting us more despite our initial ranks.
Wolves are very territorial, thus making them wary of outsiders, which is why I decided to introduce them to their new partners slowly over the weeks. It was hard in the beginning; most of my time was spent trying to make sure small problems wouldn't snowball into big disasters. However, the pack members soon realized the foxes and cats were only here to help. Once they started trusting their new friends, life became much easier.
We now had a hundred warriors of both species living among us. Roughly half of them were foxes, while the rest of them were lynxes. Aside from helping defend our territory in the event of an attack, they were also here so they could train with our wolves. After learning about each of their individual strengths and weaknesses, my Beta developed a solid strategy specifically to take down bears. The warriors had been divided into teams according to their personal skills, to both maximize our offensive potential and to strengthen the connection between them.
Our building company was also growing at a steady pace. We had already started working for our allies, mostly putting up houses for the villagers. Although we were currently focused on calculating the details to make sure our surprise attack would be successful, Caitlyn and I were planning on expanding our business to provide services for other clients of the supernatural world. Hopefully then we would be able to rebuild our economy.
It was a lot of work managing all of the different aspects of a pack, but there was nothing more satisfying than watching it thrive.
After coming out of yet another weekly meeting with the werecat and werefox leaders, I followed my mate's delicious scent back to my office. As I pushed the door open, I sighed in disappointment. It was Friday and the sun had already set, but my Luna was still sitting on her chair, a pile of papers in front of her as she furiously wrote something down. Even when there wasn't much to do, she would spend most of her time working - especially for the past couple of days. And I knew exactly why.
I approached her from behind, making her jump in surprise as I snaked my arms around her waist. She was so concentrated she probably didn't even notice me come in. My heart stopped for a second when her bright hazel eyes landed on me. I slowly lifted my hand closer to her face, gently moving a strand of her wavy hair behind her ear with my index finger. I admired her beauty for a long while before finally pressing my lips against hers.
"What are you up to now, beautiful?" There was a hint of sadness in my tone.
"I'm just revising the details for the attack. There are a few things that I'm still concerned about. I think we need more time," she suggested, locking her eyes back on the papers.
I carefully placed my hand under her chin, forcing her to look at me. "We have been discussing this plan for weeks," I reminded her. Ever since Cordelia managed to successfully track two of the bears that had been roaming around our territory, we had been monitoring their every move. They seemed to be living in a cave not too far away from our borders. "All of the leaders agree that we should attack tomorrow. Every plan has risks, but we made sure to minimize them. It'll be fine, Cait. Just trust me." I noticed she was about to argue, so I went on. "I thought we could go on a date tonight, have a good time and blow off some steam. Please, let me take you out."
She was thoughtful for a moment. I knew she wanted to refuse my request, but she couldn't bring herself to bring me down. Eventually, she sighed, nodding at me. I offered her my hand and we headed back to our room to get changed. I had made a reservation for us at Ancora Waterfront Dining and Patio in downtown Vancouver, but I also wanted to take her on a night stroll across Stanley Park afterwards, so I told her to pick a fancy, yet comfortable outfit.
As soon as I walked out of the bathroom after a quick shower, dressed in simple black pants and a plain black button-up shirt under an off-white blazer, I lost all of my air when I found Caitlyn staring at her reflection in the mirror. She was wearing a stunning long dress, which was sophisticated, but not too fancy. It had a single strap, a slightly loose skirt, and an open back that left her fair skin exposed, making Atlas howl frantically inside my head. It had a very colorful pattern that resembled the feathers of a peacock. I only remembered I had to breathe when she turned around to look at me.
"Too much?" she asked, uncertain.
"No. It's so perfect it took my breath away, literally," I confessed, making her blush shyly.
As my heart skipped a beat, I was surprised by how my love for this woman never stopped growing. Every single one of her glances, the sound of her laughter, the way her cheeks turned red whenever I complimented her; it all made me fall deeper in love with her every day. I stepped closer to her, offering her my hand to lead her out of the room. However, just as we walked outside, I realized I was forgetting something very important.
"Wait here for a second," I told her before rushing back to the Alpha suite. I quickly grabbed the forgotten item, placing it inside the front pocket of my pants before meeting my mate again.
"What did you forget?" she asked curiously.
I pulled my wallet out of the back pocket of my pants, showing her the small card. "My I.D." She just nodded.
We headed towards the limousine, which was parked in front of the pack house. The driver bowed his head as he opened the door for us. Once we were properly seated, we took off. It wasn't a long drive, but the way my beautiful mate was so quiet bothered me. Despite my many attempts to start up a conversation, she was too distracted - nervous, even. It was understandable for her to feel that way, but it was still tearing me apart. I decided to give her the space she needed and comfort her by caressing her arms and thighs.
"Poor mate. She's so worried for us," my wolf whimpered inside my head. "I wish she could come with us tomorrow."
"I know." I sighed. "But she hates fighting. Besides, she'll be safer at home."
"She will be safer wherever we are. We'll never let her get hurt."
"Well, that's true. Still, she made the decision to stay, and I will respect it," I replied adamantly. "I just hope she'll be able to let it go, at least for tonight."
The driver dropped us off in front of the restaurant, and a waiter took us to our seats. Caitlyn finally started to relax when we sat at a table outside. Her beautiful eyes glistened, reflecting the many colorful flowers surrounding us. It was relieving to see her let go for just a brief moment, enjoying the night by my side. We talked about how much we had accomplished, laughed about the silly mistakes we had made in the past, and remembered our first weeks together. So much had changed; we had changed. Still, we remained together through it all.
In the end, we had an amazing time. The food was amazing; although we had some talented chefs in Diamond Tempest, the dishes here were at a completely different level. I was both content and a little jealous of the noises my mate was making as she tasted her meal. I had never seen her so pleased before, except during the many times I worshiped her body.
Once we were done, our driver picked us up and took us to Stanley Park. I had visited it a few times in the past with Luke, Jasper, and Sasha, but I hadn't come to this place in a while. Since it was Caitlyn's first time, I made sure to show her the classic spots. As the hours rolled by and the night became darker, I noticed she was starting to feel a little cold. I asked her if she would like to head back home, but she insisted she wasn't ready for the night to end just yet. I offered her my blazer so she could cover her exposed back and we continued our stroll.
She became quiet again when we reached the seawalk. Our fingers were intertwined as we walked along the coast, the waves crashing against the stone wall close to our feet. Her gaze was fixated on the horizon, where the dark skies became one with the silvery water, illuminated by the intense light of the moon. At last, I couldn't take it any longer; I let go of her hand to wrap my arm around her waist, pulling her closer to me. "Talk to me, beautiful," I begged.
She remained silent for a while longer as we kept walking, but eventually sighed. "I'm just afraid... because of the attack. I know how reckless you are when it comes to fighting, especially when you're seeking revenge."
"I used to be reckless," I corrected her. "But now I have you. And I promise I will come back."
I suddenly stopped dead in my tracks, surprising her. A gasp escaped her lips when she turned around, noticing I had dropped to one knee.
Well, there was no going back now.

Caitlyn POV
I froze in my spot when Lance's vivid yellow-green eyes locked on mine; they seemed even more intense when illuminated by the moonlight. As he knelt before me, he grabbed my hand in both of his. My heart was beating faster. Faye was confused, unaware of human traditions. I, on the other hand, had an idea of what his gesture meant. He couldn't be... could he?
"I need to tell you something," he started, never once taking his gaze off me. "I used to think there was no meaning to life for someone like me. An orphan, a stray wolf whose own parents didn't want him. I was convinced only death could redeem my worthless existence. All I wanted was to be remembered as a hero, rather than someone so insignificant as to not even deserve a last name. But since the first time I looked into your eyes..." he made a brief pause, his voice slightly cracking. There was so much honesty in his words. "When I looked into your eyes, I just knew. I knew you were the reason why I should live. You gave me purpose. You wanted me, when no one else did."
"Lance..." I tried to speak, but I couldn't. I was still in shock.
"I will always replace my way back to you." He quickly glanced down, pulling a small wooden box out of the front pocket of his pants. I instinctively covered my mouth with my hand when he opened it, revealing a small ring carved in wood. It had a refined golden finish at the edges and three brilliant diamonds in the middle. I barely had time to process what was happening as he went on, "Caitlyn De Bruin, my Luna, my mate... will you become my wife?"
"Yes." All of a sudden, my hesitation was gone. The next second, I was overwhelmed with happiness. "Yes! Of course I will!" I laughed, happy tears already flowing down my face.
My man rose swiftly, his bright smile denoting just how overjoyed he was. He slowly slid the delicate ring onto my finger, his hands shaking as he held mine. After staring at the shiny object for a long while, he finally glanced up, wrapping his arms around me. "I love you, Caitlyn. I want you to know that."
"I already know, Lance," I chuckled, still thrilled. "I love you so much. Did you carve this?"
"Yes. Do you like it?" he asked hesitantly. "At first, I thought about buying you something, but I thought it would be more meaningful if I made it myself. It's not as fancy-"
"I love it. It's perfect," I cut him off.
"It matches you then." He smiled, wiping my tears with his thumbs. "Are you ready to go back now?" Still replaceing it hard to speak due to the emotion, I just nodded.
We couldn't stop kissing in the back of the car all the way home. Once we arrived, the driver walked out to open the door for us. He jumped back in surprise when Lance scooped me into his arms, pulling me out of the car and carrying me upstairs bridal style. He kept on kissing me until we made it to our room, ignoring the way pack members stared at us, oblivious to what had happened during our casual date.
My mate pinned me against the wall, too lost in desire to bother locking the door behind us - no one would dare walk into the Alpha suite anyway. His hands traveled along my curves, sliding the blazer off my shoulders as he started trailing kisses down my chin and neck. My body was already on fire by the time his lips reached my collarbone; my skin burned from the loss of contact the second he pulled away.
"I know you like it when I tear your clothes off, but I can't bring myself to destroy this dress," he whispered in a husky voice, staring into my eyes. "Not only do you look gorgeous in it, but it is also the one you were wearing when you said yes. I want you to keep it." I couldn't bring myself to reply, my core melting due to his sensual words. I let my head fall backwards as he slowly removed the single strap of the dress, letting it slide all the way to the floor. He pulled me gently by the hand, inviting me to step out of the piece of cloth. He proceeded to get rid of my panties in a much less gracious manner. I wanted him to pounce on me, but as soon as I was completely naked, all he did was stare at me. His eyes became darker, filled with lust.
"I'll never get tired of watching your marvelous body. You are a true work of art, my mate, and one day I will sculpt your entire frame." His promise made heat pool between my legs.
His lips crashed against mine one more time as he disposed of his clothes insanely quickly. The next second, he lowered me onto the bed, the warmth of his body against mine making me release a moan. A smirk immediately played on his lips.
"I love hearing the sounds you make. I hope I can please you more than our meal did."
I flushed at his remark, but he didn't let me dwell on it for too long. Positioning himself on top of me, he used his legs to spread mine open, causing me to gasp when his tip pressed against my entrance. He remained still for a while longer just to build my anticipation before finally pushing himself inside of me, groaning as if he had just crossed Heaven's gates.
As he started moving in and out slowly, I wrapped one of my hands around his strong arm, feeling his muscles. By the way his hardened d**k twitched inside of me, I knew he enjoyed the way my nails slowly traveled down his back. It felt good to please him, but I couldn't concentrate on it for long; as soon as his rough hands cupped my breasts, kneading them gently, a loud moan echoed through the room.
Being with him was magical; I had had him countless times, yet somehow I always wanted more. I could feel my pleasure building up with his every move. His thumbs played with my hardened n*****s, his lips brushed against my mark. The way he filled every inch of my insides was amazing. So amazing I couldn't hold it any longer. He sunk his canines into my flesh, making me cry out his name as he marked me as his yet again. My eyes rolled back as I lost control of my quivering body during my climax.
Lance didn't stop there. His growls were becoming louder, his movements much more frantic than they were in the beginning. The waves of pleasure made my p***y clench against his c**k as he f****d me through my o****m until he too reached his release, spurting his seed inside of me.
"Mine," he whispered as he collapsed on top of me, just barely holding his weight with his elbows so he wouldn't crush me. "You are mine, Caitlyn. My fiancée." He smiled, sending shivers down my spine.
I couldn't help but return the gesture. "And you are mine, Lance. You better come back to me tomorrow."
"I will." He opened his eyes, which were filled with seriousness as he looked into mine. "I will never leave you alone. Not even death could ever tear us apart."
