My Mate Is An Omega
Bonus Chapter 2

Sasha POV

"Are you intrigued by me, Sasha?"

The silence in the room was deafening as Jasper leaned forward, causing me to instinctively press my back against the chair. I wanted to open my mouth to answer his silly question with one of my smart remarks, but when his pale blue eyes locked on mine, I just froze. My thoughts were racing inside my head, yet at the same time, my mind seemed to have gone blank. What was going on? Why wasn't I pushing him away?

"What are you doing, Sasha?!" Opal screeched anxiously inside my head, urging me to put an end to this situation, but I didn't.

There was something about the stray... How he could have - and had had - every she-wolf he wanted, but he never saw me as another piece of meat. How he refused to let anyone in, but he didn't hesitate to confess his secrets to me. Was I the only one who could see right through him? In the heat of the moment, the idea of being with him didn't disgust me anymore. He might not be my mate, but he wouldn't be my first either.

And as his lips inched closer, I allowed myself to briefly get lost in the moment.

"Sasha, Jasper," Lance's voice through the mindlink caught me by surprise. I gasped for air, only then realizing I had been holding my breath all this time. "I'm gonna need your help with our guests right now. Whatever it is you're doing, you can finish it later." Once the message had been delivered, the simplicity of our moment was ruined. The magic in the atmosphere had been replaced by tension as we stared at each other awkwardly. Goddess, was I really going to let him kiss me?! He turned away, and all I could hear was the loud thuds from my heart beating like a drum inside my chest. Was I nervous?

"You sure as hell should be!" My she-wolf scoffed. "Frankly, Sasha! Are you that desperate? I know you haven't been with anyone in a while, but Jasper?!"

I blinked a few times processing her words and failing at trying to understand my own feelings. "You're right. I don't know what happened." She shook her head in disapproval before retreating to the back of my head.

"So, uh... seems like we have work to do, huh?" His shy voice pulled me back from my brief conversation with Opal. I sighed in relief, thankful for his initiative to pretend nothing happened.

"Yeah! Seems like it." I laughed nervously.

"We should go then."

I was hesitant to take his hand when he offered it to me, but I closed my eyes, reminding myself that there was no reason for me to feel awkward around him. We were friends, after all. He helped me up from my seat and together we made our way downstairs. I introduced a random subject to break the silence, and little by little, the tension between us disappeared. In a matter of seconds, I had already forgotten our weird interaction.

However, I wasn't able to feel comfortable for long.

"Wait," I uttered, lifting my nose up in the air. The fragrance that hit my nostrils was unlike anything I had ever smelt before. It enticed me in an inexplicable way, making my heart beat faster. I shook my head, trying to form coherent thoughts. "Do you smell that?" From the corner of my eye, I noticed Jasper quickly sniff the air. "It's just the same smell of burning firewood and lemon grass incense to me. Should it be any different?"

I heard his words, but in my trance, it was impossible to truly understand them. The next second, I lost control of my own body as my feet began to move against my will and I beelined towards the exit.

"Hey, wait!" The Gamma yelled, in vain. The pull I felt was too strong for me to fight.

Only after I pushed through the double doors did I stop moving - in fact, I was completely frozen. The town square was packed, but my eyes instantly locked on a strong man who seemed to be in his mid-twenties. His jet-black hair was shining under the sun, and judging by his tough build, I couldn't help but wonder what his muscles looked like underneath the dark navy winter coat. He was the most handsome man I had ever seen, and just the sight of him sparked my appetite.

I was at a loss for words. The man, however, seemed to know exactly what to say; I watched in awe as he breathed out the word 'mate.

"Oh, s**t!" I uttered instinctively, mentally scolding myself immediately after.

"We finally meet our mate and that's all you have to say?" Opal rolled her eyes at me. Since we shared our emotions, I could sense her desire to run up to him and pin him against a tree, but I fought her; I was still confused. Unfortunately - or fortunately I didn't have a lot of time to think.

The delicious man used his werewolf speed to close the distance between us in the blink of an eye. I thought he was about to devour me, but he stopped inches away from me. His exotic eyes examined my body before he gently brought one hand up to my cheek. He hesitated before touching me, almost as if asking for permission. I nodded without thinking and he proceeded. When our skins made contact, it felt like there were fireworks exploding inside of me. What was this feeling? It was making me melt.

"I have been searching for you for so long, mon chéri." His voice was silky, but demanding. Just by his aura I already knew he was an Alpha. "May I have your name?

"Sasha," I replied obediently, never taking my eyes off him. "Sasha Stone. I'm the Delta of Diamond Tempest Pack."

A sensual growl reverberated in his throat, and my legs turned to jelly. "A perfect name for a perfect woman." His smirk made me blush. What was he doing to me? "I am Cedar Adalwolf, Alpha of Ninebark Pack." My eyes widened - wasn't that Caitlyn's former pack? Before I could process the information, he continued, "And you, Sasha Stone, will make the perfect Luna for our pack. I look forward to taking you home with me."

It was at that moment that I understood my life would be forever changed. I couldn't help but smile - my turn to be happy had finally come.

Jasper POV

"Mated to an Alpha, huh? Not bad." I chuckled, trying to hide the disappointment in my voice. Now, I was the only one still single out of all my friends - but that wasn't the main reason why I was feeling down.

After the unexpected meeting between Sasha and her mate, they disappeared for two hours to get to know each other. I assumed it was during that time they decided she would be leaving with Alpha Cedar by the end of the day. Since Lance, Caitlyn, and the Beta couple were busy attending the meeting among our ally leaders alongside my friend's mate, I volunteered to help her pack. Of course, Cedar didn't look too thrilled about the idea - especially since he probably could sense my scent on the Delta - but he didn't argue. He didn't seem like the controlling type, which was great. Judging by what our Luna told us about her former Alpha, he sounded like a pretty humble and respectful leader. Deep inside, I was happy for Sasha; she deserved her happy ending. Unlike me.

"Are you jealous, stray?" she teased.

I threw one of her dresses at her in response, making her squeal in surprise. "You wish!"

"You're an a*s, Jazz!" She laughed, carefully folding the piece before putting her inside the last of her suitcases; there were three in total. I was doing my best to conceal my hurt, and she almost took my walls down with the saddened gaze she flashed at me. "I'm gonna miss you."

f**k! Don't cry, Jasper! Pull yourself together!

"Hah. I bet you won't even remember me after one night with Mr. Perfect Alpha," I joked.

"I'm serious," she insisted, slowly walking up to me. My playful smirk faded as I stared into her eyes. "I know I'm always cursing at you and calling you names... but it won't be the same without you."

"Hey, I'll always be here," I observed, trying to light up the mood. This was supposed to be the best moment of her life - I wouldn't let her ruin it because of me. "If you miss screaming at me, I'll be one call away."

Sasha showed me the sweetest smile as she leaned closer, surprising me. I stiffened when she pressed her lips against my cheek, only relaxing when she pulled away. She turned around, picking up her luggage and carrying everything towards the exit, but stopped once as she reached the door.

Glancing over her shoulder, she whispered, "Goodbye, Jazz."

And I watched her leave, feeling more alone than I ever had in my entire life.
