My Mate Is An Omega -
My Mate Is A Virgin Chapter 28
Andromeda POV
As I styled my hair in my usual quick updo, I checked my outfit in the mirror. The fabulous, long wine-red dress suited my frame quite well. It surely highlighted my royal aura. Still, I couldn't help but roll my eyes; it was too much. I looked like I was about to receive an Oscar, not to attend a casual family lunch. "You look stunning," my mate uttered as he approached me from behind, snaking his arms around my waist. An unamused smile spread over my lips as I watched our reflections.
"You know Mother... She likes everything grand."
"Well, she is a queen. And you are soon to claim her title."
I turned around ready to counter his tease, but the moment my eyes landed on him, I was at a loss for words. Damn, I knew I had pretty good taste, but he looked so f*****g delicious in the black-and-red tuxedo I had bought for him. "Hmm...I'm hungry," Genevra hissed.
"We're eating soon," I replied, not fully understanding the meaning behind her statement.
"I have no interest in a gourmet meal. I just want this snack of a wolf." I internally rolled my eyes at her.
"Red is definitely your color," I told Jasper, pushing my horny lynx to the back of my mind as I straightened my mate's wine-red tie.
"Thank you, my princess. It makes me happy to know the view pleases you." He smirked triumphantly before raising one hand up to my neck, gently exposing it. A surprised moan left my mouth when he pressed his lips against my skin, his fingers tracing the mark he had placed on me a month ago. "It looks so good on you." His low voice was full of temptation.
I turned my head slightly, only to realize he had been staring at us through the mirror, his pale blue eyes locked on the back of my neck. Smiling, I looked back at him, my hands quickly searching for his right arm. My heart skipped a beat when I rolled up his sleeve, exposing the mark on his wrist.
"Just as good as mine looks on you," I whispered proudly. My hands found their way to his head, my fingers tangling into his soft hair as I pulled his face closer to mine. Static ran through me the second our tongues met in a delicate, passionate dance. s**t, this feeling would never get old. "Are you ready to go?"
"Whenever you are."
"Let's get this over with then." I took his arm, leading him out of our room and towards the dining room. "By the way, I have a surprise for you."
"Oh?" He turned his head to me with interest. "Will you tell me what it is?"
"You'll replace out after lunch. I'm honestly curious to know how you'll react to it."
He scoffed. "You are such a tease."
"Never lied to you about it." I shrugged.
Two guards standing in front of the double doors opened them for us. Mom and Dad were already on their seats, waiting for us, along with Adriana and her mother. Relief washed over me when I realized Mackenzie wasn't with them; since she was technically part of the royal family, she would sometimes tag along. I definitely didn't see her as competition, but she was getting on my nerves lately. It was funny to see her fail every time she attempted to get my mate's attention though, and noticing how he only had eyes for me always made me feel powerful.
We greeted my parents before taking our seats in front of them. Not even a second later, servants started setting the table. Just as quickly as they showed up, they were gone, allowing us the privacy we needed to discuss the event that would happen in a couple of days, as well as the changes that would follow.
"Prince Jasper." The queen was the first to break the silence. "The huntresses informed me about how you successfully eliminated a rogue this morning without their help. Congratulations."
"Thank you, Mother," my mate promptly replied. In mutual respect, neither of them glanced at each other during their short exchange. I was proud of my mate; he had adapted to his new lifestyle so quickly.
"Once you take my place as king, the challenges should increase. Don't let your guard down." My father's deep voice echoed through the room.
"Of course, Your Majesty. I will defend my title with honor." It was hard to remember how insecure Jasper was in the beginning. Hearing him speak so confidently, anyone would believe he had been training to become king his whole life. "Andromeda." I lifted my head the second Mom called my name. "Is everything ready for the King and Queen Ceremony?"
"Yes, Mother. I have talked to the members in charge of organizing the event earlier today. Tasks have been properly distributed, the food and decorations have all been ordered; even the final details have been taken care of. The celebration will happen in two days, as planned."
"Perfect. As you know, you are also to nominate your right hand on the night you take over as queen. Is Adriana still your choice?"
My best friend didn't even bother looking at me. We both knew my mother's question had been made out of formality; everyone knew what my answer would be.
"Yes. Not only has she been training since she was a kitten to take on the role, she is also the member I trust the most." From the corner of my eye, I watched the huntress smile genuinely. I didn't hesitate to return the gesture.
"Good. Now, we must discuss what will be expected of the Prince and Princess on the night of your coronation and the responsibilities you will have moving forward."
The meeting went on for another hour and a half as we went over every single one of the hundreds of topics. I was familiar with most of them, as was my mate, since I made sure to brief him on everything throughout the previous month. A few of them I had forgotten to mention, but Jasper showed no signs of nervousness. At first, I thought he was just concealing his emotions like I had taught him to do, but all I could feel through the mate bond was his serenity. He had changed a lot, and I couldn't be more proud. I was sure he would still blow us all away the more he learned to trust in himself.
Once we were free, I told him to wait for me in front of the castle while I fetched his "surprise." Well, he was certainly confused when I showed up with the two tiny monsters. They were ready to burst with excitement, but I made them promise they would behave. To my amusement, they actually did. Jasper's eyes switched from me to them until they locked on me, eagerly waiting for answers. "Boys," was all I said as I stood with my hands behind my back.
Both twins took a step forward, but Caiden was the first to speak. "Excuse us, Prince Jasper..." I had to admit, it was cute to see him lower his head in respect. "We don't mean to bother you, but we were wondering if..."
"If you would mind showing us your...your wolf?" Aiden's eyes twinkled with expectation. "We have never seen one before. We were so excited when we learned that the Prince was not a werecat, and we reeeeeally wanted to ask you ever since we met you! We were so frustrated when Mom said we weren't allowed to annoy you, but then sister said it was fine, and-"
"Aiden!" Caiden whisper-yelled, catching his twin's attention. "We agreed to behave!"
"Oooh, right! My bad." He covered his mouth with his hands. I had to giggle at his reaction.
"It's all good, boys," Jasper replied, trying hard not to laugh.
The two immediately turned to him with wide eyes. "Really?!"
"Yeah. Phoenix will love meeting you."
"His name is Phoenix?!" Caiden yelled, unable to hold his excitement any longer.
"That's so cool!" Aiden jumped up and down repeatedly. "Can he spit fire like a real phoenix?!"
"I don't think so." Jasper chuckled. "His fur kinda looks like fire though. Are you ready to meet him?"
"Yes!" My little brothers replied in unison.
"Let's get closer to the forest first. This way we don't risk Mom seeing it and scolding you," I suggested. They nodded before running ahead of us. My mate soon took my hand and we followed right behind them.
As soon as we made it to a more secluded area, my prince hid behind a tree to take his clothes off. Shifters were used to seeing each other naked - it was pretty much part of our nature - but I assume he didn't feel comfortable doing it in front of the kids. It didn't take long for me to hear the characteristic snapping sounds of the transformation. A second later, the black-and-auburn wolf jumped in front of us.
Both boys jumped back in surprise as the beast approached them. Phoenix glanced at me for a brief moment before he started circling my brothers slowly, sniffing them occasionally. I thought he was trying not to scare them, but I soon realized he didn't seem too worried about that. In a quick movement, the wolf used his head to toss Caiden into the air. The kitten was pale as a ghost when he landed on the creature's back, but it didn't take long for a huge smile to spread over his lips.
"That was so cool!" Caiden screeched happily, swinging his legs back and forth as his fingers grasped the wolf's fur for support. "Look, Aiden! I'm riding a wolf! A wolf!"
"Hey, that's not fair! I wanna ride him too!" Phoenix didn't hesitate to follow Aiden's command, repeating the process with him. "Woah! Awesome!"
The fiery wolf played rodeo with them for a few minutes. By the time he laid on the ground to allow them to come down, they were out of breath and dizzy. Aiden even tripped after taking a few steps, falling face-first into the snow. His brother laughed at him, which caused the start of a snowball fight. Phoenix soon joined them. Not too long after, the three of them were running around the place as they chased each other.
Part of me was scared of what clan members would think of their Prince's silly behavior if they ran into us, but another part wished I could witness this scene many more times. I was always concerned about my posture, my attitude, my aura. Cats were very independent; in order to rule them, I had to constantly remind them of why they should follow me.
However, as I watched my wolf mate play with my little brothers, my worries seemed to float away. My heart melted, and I wondered if it was the effect of cuteness overload. No, it had to be something else. There was this warmth inside of me, an instinct that had just awakened.
A loud thud pulled me from my thoughts. I lifted my gaze to replace the beast laying with his back on the ground - although he looked more like a puppy than an actual beast right now. After tiring out the two little monsters, Phoenix asked for belly rubs like the good boy he was, and they wasted no time to provide him with some.
"That's enough, you two!" I clapped my hands, capturing their attention. "You should get back to the castle before Mother notices your absence. Now, say 'thank you' to Prince Jasper and Phoenix."
"Thank you, Prince Jasper! Thank you, Phoenix!" They said in unison. The wolf barked in response, licking each of their faces. Giggling, they sprinted away.
After they were gone, Phoenix stared at me for a while longer before reluctantly walking back behind the tree where he first shifted. I had to admit, I was a little disappointed when I watched Jasper approach me in his human form, already dressed. "How did you like your surprise?" I asked playfully.
"Not what I was expecting, but I'll take it. I love kids." Once he finished straightening his tuxedo, his eyes finally landed on me. He arched one eyebrow, but the smile never left his lips. "What?"
I shook my head, approaching him slowly. "You're gonna be a great father someday," I whispered as I wrapped my arms around his neck. Soon after, his hands grasped my waist, pulling me closer.
"Already thinking about carrying my pups, Princess?" His hot breath against my ear made heat pool between my legs.
"Who says they'll be wolves?" I argued. "Maybe they'll be lynxes, like their mother."
"They could be human for all I care. As long as they're ours, I'll love them unconditionally." The sincerity in his words made my heart beat faster. Damn, he knew just what to do to have me wrapped around his finger. "When you talk like that, you make me wanna stop taking the pill," I joked.
"Wanna start trying already?" When he pulled away to look into my eyes, they were sparkling with hunger. His voice was huskier, lower. "I wouldn't mind throwing you on our bed and taking you over and over again until my seed is blooming inside of you." "That's one hell of a tempting offer."
Just as our lips were about to touch, the sound of footsteps coming closer made me stiffen. I wanted nothing more than to replace out if my mate would stay true to his promise, but I knew better than to be caught in an intimate moment with him by someone else. With an annoyed grunt, I pulled him away. The growl that left his lips mirrored my emotions. As I turned around, I was confused to replace Alula standing a few feet away from us.
"Sorry to bother you, Princess Andromeda. Prince Jasper." She lowered her head shyly, but she failed to hide the smile on her face. "I'm here with a formal invitation from the Huntresses Team."
