Chapter 54: Revealing the Truth to His Ex-Husband Atrias's POV

Chapter 54: Revealing the Truth to His Ex-Husband

As I anxiously awaited Melissa's response, my Beta walked in to inform me that the Meadow Pack Alpha, Elliott Kauffman, had come to visit.

His arrival surprised me. After all, he hadn't even shown up when I'd tried to engage with his wife, yet now he was seeking me out.

I had assumed he wouldn't support my resistance against the North, so I never expected him to want to meet with me. But it seemed I was mistaken.

I wasn't sure why he had come, but I didn't want to appear impolite. Despite my lack of enthusiasm, I decided to meet with him.

"Let him in," I instructed my Beta.

Elliott Kauffman walked into my office with a grim expression, and I couldn't help but wonder what had put him in such a foul mood. "Good afternoon, Alpha Atrias," he greeted.

I nodded in response. Though his mood appeared to be dreadful, I chose to smile at him, maintaining politeness.

"Hello, Elliott. This is our first time meeting privately."

He sat down directly across from me, not waiting for an invitation, clearly someone who preferred to make himself comfortable.

"So, what brings you here today?"

I didn't believe he had come without a purpose, merely to pay a visit.

His expression was serious, and he soon began discussing the issues of Pack governance with a sense of resignation.

"I've been thinking a lot lately-can war really improve the lives of the people? This is also the main reason I didn't want to join your resistance against the North."

I couldn't help but furrow my brow at his words.

"I believe your father-in-law, Jim, has already explained this to you quite clearly."

Many people didn't share my views, which was why I had to engage in persuasion and manipulation.

"But shouldn't the interests of the tribe come above all else?"

He spoke softly, and I found his words unsatisfactory.

I needed to tear down the North, and I wanted nothing more than to see Sebastian beneath my heel. This conversation held no meaning for me and made me uncomfortable.

"If I want my goals to be realized, sacrifices are inevitable. But as long as the goal is achieved, these sacrifices won't be in vain."

I noticed Elliott Kauffman's expression grow more serious. It seemed he still couldn't understand me.

"I hope you'll be willing to join our alliance."

I tried my best to keep a smile and remain calm. At that moment, I couldn't feel excitement or passion about anything. I had heard that Melissa was going to marry that dark Alpha! If I didn't act now, I would lose control of my own destiny!

Sebastian Agrigent was about to take her completely, and I needed to speed up my plans. I would have to kill him if I wanted to take her back.

I hoped that Melissa wouldn't truly fall for him. Even if they married, it should be for her survival, nothing more.

"Perhaps, you'd like a drink?"

Noticing Elliott Kauffman's gaze fall on the brandy, I smiled and poured him a glass.

He immediately poured himself a drink and took a sip, emptying the glass.

"Can you really guarantee that you won't harm our people too much? I can't imagine if you still have any kindness left, but if you can truly treat the people well, I would be deeply grateful."

Listening to him, I became more focused. It seemed that breaking through with Elliott Kauffman wasn't entirely impossible.

"So, what would you like me to do for you?"

If I could show enough sincerity, perhaps the Meadows would officially join the alliance.

"I hope you'll allow members of our tribe to work within the alliance. We need a significant number of jobs in construction and factory work."

This guy was making an extremely demanding request, knowing exactly what he wanted.

"The income and experience would provide my people with a stable life. If the North and the alliance truly go to war, we can abandon the Meadows Pack and settle in other regions as part of the alliance. For the sake of my people, I can even give up my Alpha title." As he spoke, I could sense his seriousness.

I had to admit, he did have a sense of responsibility and care for his people.

and

"Impossible, Alpha Elliott! You have to understand, your people are numerous, your resources abundant. If we were to establish a base, the Meadows would be our preferred choice."

As my words sank in, his expression darkened.

"But, if you're truly sincere..."

My words reignited a flicker of hope in him.

"I plan to visit their Alpha in the East. He's an impressive man, even Geoffrey, who is

you could known for his temper, can be soothed by him. If you join the alliance, I believe easily settle there and work for your people. He would even be willing to make you a Beta!"

"Are you close?" His tone was filled with disbelief, caught off guard and uncomfortable by my suggestion.

"Somewhat, but he was one of the first to decide on an alliance with me. The East has many areas that require a large workforce, and they have deep issues with the North. Many lost their lives in the fight against the North." Honestly, I no longer wanted to engage with the man before me. His state was terrible- scruffy stubble, dark circles under his eyes. It was clear he hadn't rested well, but none of that concerned me.

He had been so sure that Melissa Helberg would never leave him, accepting his fate with Courteney, which ultimately led to his irreversible loss.

Glass after glass of brandy, I could tell he had something on his mind. He had come to see. me for a reason.

"Elliott, we're familiar with each other now. If you have something to say, you can just come out with it," Not wanting to waste time, I took the initiative to start the conversation.

"Someone said you wrote a letter to Melissa in the North?"

It seemed he had gathered a great deal of resolve to ask that question.

you to

"Yes, I did. I don't know why you're still concerned about your ex-wife, but I need understand, Melissa is my destiny. Second Chance Mate, she's my lover. I knew that the night we met." "Impossible! What are you talking about?"

In his eyes, I must have seemed like a madman, but I knew this was the truth, and I needed him to understand, so he wouldn't entertain any further thoughts about Melissa.

"Does Melissa know about this? I wouldn't get your hopes up. She's with the Dark Alpha now. Jim told me that if I agree to join the alliance, he'll consider bringing Melissa back to 82.7%

Hearing his words, I realized he probably didn't know that Melissa was about to become the Luna of the North.

"I'm afraid you don't understand the situation fully-they're about to marry. I can't help but feel helpless. If I had taken her that day, perhaps she would've been mine. She never should've gone South in the beginning. This letter I sent was just to tell her the truth!"
