One Girl Two Mates
Chapter 15

KANE POV

I watched the witch as she sat cross legged in the middle of the room, levitating a few feet off of the ground. Her eyes were rolled back into her head, only the whites showed. It was an eerie contrast to her dark, ebony skin. Her mouth moved at the speed of light, mumbling her incantations. Her eyes and the odd drawings on the floor beneath her started to glow a light purple. Watching her made the hairs on the back of my neck and arms stand on end. Her words died out as she slowly drifted back to the floor, she closed her eyes and when she opened them her piercing blue irises were back.

"Welcome back." She said in her thick French accent.

"No more games, witch!" I growled at her.

"But I am not playing games." She said simply as she stood and walked to her small kitchen. Rage filled me, I lunged towards her, but before I could touch her, pain engulfed me. I let out a cry as I dropped to the floor. "You know what that pain is?" She sipped her tea, looking down at me.

"It's the pain from losing your mate that you keep locked away." She held her hand out as she spoke, it glowed a faint purple color.

"I think you forget who you're dealing with, boy." Her voice distorted, it sounded like several voices morphed into one deep one.

"Now." She snapped her fingers, releasing me from my pain.

"Do you want answers or not?" She raised one perfectly arched brow at me as I lay on the ground, panting for breath.

"Yes." I gasped, I watched as she smirked and took a seat at her kitchen table. She looked deeply into my eyes, her blue irises glowed so blue they were almost white. They slowly faded back to normal, she let out a low chuckle. "What is it? What did you see?" I clutched my chest as I rose to my feet.

"You were working with another witch, I know her, she scammed you." She stirred her tea, taking another sip.

"I figured as much, she presented as an Astral witch, but I believe she was an Herbal witch. She had me running in circles, wasting my time." The witch leaned forward, looking deep in thought.

"She's smart, she didn't lead you too far astray. You will need to sacrifice a Luna, but it's not just any Luna."

"Who? Who is it?" I took a set forward causing her to raise a brow. I straightened up, attempting to relax a little.

"That is what I do not know, I'll need to do some more research." She shrugged, sipping her tea.

"What do you mean by more research? I thought you just knew these things." I asked, my patience running thin.

"This goes deeper than my magic, deeper than you and I. Now if you want your mate back, then do as I say and wait. Do not attack another Luna, it's not necessary. You may leave now." With a flick of her wrist, the door to her cabin opened, officially dismissing me. "You better not let me down, witch." I grumbled as I made my way to her front door, slamming it close behind me.

"Don't worry, my Phoebe, she'll bring you back to me." I whispered into the cold night. DIEGO POV

My little mate cried as I held her the entire ride home. I would give anything to know what she was thinking about, but I had a feeling it was about Rafael. I knew she wanted to accept us right then and there, I could practically taste her desire in the air. I'm glad she didn't, Rafael needs time to grow and reflect on what he's done.

"Come on, mi amor, we're home now." I nudged her gently, she raised her bloodshot eyes to look into mine.

"Could you carry me?" She sniffed and I couldn't help but smile and kiss her tiny nose.

"Of course." I lifted her into my arms as I slid out of the car. When we approached the pack house, Lili stiffened.

"There's another vampire here." She whispered, wide eyes gazing up at me.

"Inside the pack house?" My brows knitted together. She nodded her head and wiggled out of my hold to walk up the steps.

"Lili." I called, but she was focused as she used her speed to enter our home. I jogged up the stairs after her and sure enough I smelt a vampire in my home. I followed Lili, or at least tried to, and the smell to my office. When I entered the office I saw Ryan, my Gamma, standing with a tall blonde woman. She was undoubtedly a vampire, her red eyes glowed against her porcelain skin. I noticed the marks on their necks immediately.

"You found your mate?" I smiled at him.

"Yes, and your answers." I glanced at Lili who was transfixed by the other vampire, I hadn't told her about the research. I took a seat at my desk and beckoned my mate to come to me. She walked to me, eyes never leaving the vampire as she sat on my lap. I circled my arm around her waist, pulling her against me.

"I have something to tell you, mi amor." She finally turned to me, looking down into my eyes.

"I had Ryan do some research into who your parents might be." Her eyes widened, snapping to look at him.

"Did you replace them?" His face was grim at her question.

"Yes, my Luna-" She cut him off.

"Where are they? Can I meet them?" Her face was lit with excitement.

"That's impossible, unfortunately." The female vampire finally spoke.

"Who are you?" Lili eyed the vampire with uncertainty.

"I am Charlotte Driscoll and I knew your mother." Lili took in a sharp breath, her eyes darted between Ryan and Charlotte.

"Tell me everything." She said in a tone that held such authority it made me shiver.

"So the book said that the white wolf is born when a royal werewolf and vampire are fated to each other. Alpha created a list of possible werewolves and vampires it could be." Ryan spoke, gazing over at Charlotte.

"Your father was werewolf prince, Felix Caswell." Lili cupped her mouth, a small gasp let her lips at Ryan's words. "Charlotte knows more than I do, so she can tell you better." Ryan squeezed her shoulder and kissed her forehead.

"Your mother was Daria Bellerose, Luna." Charlotte looked at Ryan, he nodded his head, telling her to continue.

"Growing up I was close friends with her younger sister, Diana. Since Daria was the first born she was to be married to a lord. Vampires have something similar to mates, we call them our promised. Unfortunately vampire royalty thrives off of image and reputation. If my parents were still alive I would've been shunned for accepting Ryan." She smiled sadly at him.

"Diana told me that Daria and Felix met at a college party. She said they accepted each other immediately. They mated and marked each other that night. Daria left a note for Diana telling her everything and that they were running away to be together." Charlotte paused, frowning slightly.

"They were together for a little over a year before they were found. What Daria did was considered treason so her parents had her executed." Lili gasped, closing her eyes, tears slipped down her cheeks.

"We're unsure exactly what happened to Felix. I talked to his sister, Helena. She told me that their parents made it seem like a car accident, but he was actually executed too." Ryan spoke up, stepping forward he handed Lili a folded paper.

"This is Helena's number, she wants to meet you." He smiled, Lili reached out, grabbing it with a shaky hand.

"Thank you, both of you." She clutched the little paper to her chest, crying quietly.

"Is that all?" I asked.

"Yes, Alpha." Ryan spoke.

"Thank you, but I think we would like to be alone now." Ryan nodded with respect.

"Yes, Alpha." He circled his arm around his mate's waist and pulled her towards the office door, leaving us in quiet. The only sound in the room was Lili's faint sniffles.

"I had a feeling that they might be dead, but I was holding out hope." Her voice broke on her words.

"I'm so sorry, mi amor." She took in a deep breath and wiped her face.

"I'm so tired of this." Lili leaned forward and placed the paper on my desk.

"It has to stop." She stood and walked around my desk. That's when I felt her grief shift to anger.

"What has to stop?" I asked as I watched her pace before me.

"This hate between wolves and vampires." When she looked at me her eyes were glowing, power radiated off of her.

"I don't know how I'm going to do it, but I'm going to break the cycle." I stared at her in awe.

"I think we should prepare ourselves." My brows knitted together.

"Prepare for what?" I watched as she straightened her shoulders and gazed down at me.

"War."
