REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON
Chapter 100: Clinging To The Edge

Chills ran through my body when I was told that Lyra was in a critical condition.

"How is she now?" I asked for the tenth time in five minutes.

"She is still in a critical condition and we just have to make it through the night, if we can get through the night, everything will be okay." Amira said to me. "But I don't get it, why did she try to drown herself?" I said as I buried my face in my hands.

"The past few days I have spent with Lyra, I realized she has gone through so much to make her depressed and since she came here, she hasn't been on her own with nothing to do we left her alone today and she must have thought about how her life is turning out and I am sure she became momentarily depressed and tried to drown the pain out. She became tired," Amira said with so much pain in her eyes and realization hit me.

Amira understands because she is going through the same thing.

"Are you okay?" I asked Amira.

"Yeah, I am. On most days I feel better than normal," she chuckled.

"Do you need somebody to talk to?" I asked again.

"Not now, but if I really want to pour out my heart to someone trust that I will replace you," She smiled as she walked back to Lyra's room.

I stayed away through out the night and at exactly three am, Lyra's body began to convulse. We were all scared as it was continuous only pausing for a maximum of three minutes.

The nurses and doctor were running around and I was panicking.

"What is going on?" I said as I held on to a nurse.

"Sir, she keeps having seizures. If it continues through out the night, she won't make it to morning. She will die," the nurse said and I felt as if I had been dumped cold water.

I cannot lose my mate, I never even got to tell her that she was my mate and even if I did, she won't believe me, it will only make her to draw away from me and I don't want that.

I walked into the emergency room after a nurse and I saw how so many tubes were connected to her body. She looked extremely pale and frail. It looked like she was hanging on to life by a very thin thread that would snap any moment from

now.

Knowing what I know now, I think she won't wait for the thread to snap. She will cut it herself.

For the first time in my life, I faced the fear of the unknown.

LYRA'S POV

"Lyra why are you here again," mother asked.

"I am here to stay," I responded to her with finality.

"No, you can't mean that," mother gasped.

"Well, I do. There is nothing left for me in the world of the living and to be honest I don't feel like taking any revenge anymore. I just want to rest, I am so damn tired all the time and I don't want to be there anymore. I hate it there and I am tired of fighting fate. I give it to fate. It has won fair and square," I cried.

Mother held me while I sobbed in her arms.

"But you can't stay here, it is not your time yet. You still have a lot to learn," she said to me.

"But you and father are here,” I responded.

"That is because we don't have anything to do in that world again but you still do. A whole lot and I cannot let your throw that away by staying here.

"Okay, can I just stay here for two days? After that I will go back I promise." I begged mother.

"Okay then, you will stay with me for two days and I will also help you get rid of the mate bond with Kyle. You need a fresh start,"

"Thank you, mother," I smiled weakly as I continued to stay in her arms.

"Where is my father?" I asked as I looked around.

"Your father will soon be here. he had some job to do," she replied.

"Is it okay with you that I don't want to keep my promise anymore? I mean I am not interested in killing Zeus anymore, I want nothing to do with him. I just want to stay far away from him.

"I understand you and I will never force you to do anything. If you feel like you cannot fulfil the promise, then I take it back and you are free to live without the burden of trying to fulfil a promise." Mother spoke calmly.

"I will give you the same advice your father gave you and you will be allowed to rest." She said to me.

"What advice is that?" I asked not remembering what I spoke about with father.

"It is about love, a life without love will make you bitter. If you fall in love with anyone in the process of replaceing yourself again, go along with it and if things take a twist or turn later and you replace yourself with more feelings than thoughts, follow your heart." she smiled.

"I don't understand what you mean," I said to her.

"It is for later, you will understand later okay," mother said and I nodded.

"Now, let's get rid of the mate bond," she led me to some river that flowed but was stagnant.

"This will hurt a little bit, but you will feel eternally free like a huge burden has been lifted from you immediately after. Then you will feel loss and after that you will be fine. I will need you to stay here till you are fine and you can go back immediately after."

I nodded even though I felt a little bit scared for what was about to happen. I was about to let go of the past few years.

It scared me.
