Refusing To Divorce (Julia and Harry) -
Refusing 50
Chapter 50
Julia hurried to the office, and Valerie was waiting for her
by the elevator. Seeing her arrive, Valerie quickly filled her in on what happened. "Didn't you get the group message? Ms. Powell announced a meeting at eleven just ten minutes after you left. I thought you'd he back before then, but you never responded to my messages." "What group? I didn't join any group." Julia was all muddled. She didn't even know the meeting's theme, much less prepare for it. Thankfully, Valerie had prepared two copies of the meeting materials and handed one to her.
"You're not in the group? How come? Valerie asked.
"Let's talk about it later. For now, we need to get to the meeting. And how did you end up here?" Julia asked.
"Ms. Powell asked me to wait here," Valerie said, leading Julia to Use meeting room. "Here's the meeting's material. We'll sit at the back. Hope no one would notice us
Valerie spoke fast, and Julia could only listen as she read the material.
They made it to the meeting room door, and Julia took a deep breath to calm herself. Thankfully, everyone's attention was on Kathy. She and Valerie ducked and quickly slipped into the meeting room.
Only a few people at the back saw Julia. Their relationship with Julia was always lukewarm, and this matter didn't concern them, so they saw no reason to make a fuss about it. However, Kathy's secretary, Jessica Hart, spotted Julia and Valerie and gave them a look. Kathy glanced at Jessica, who was spacing out. "Where's the material 1 asked for?"
Jessica placed the prepared material in front of Kathy, who then asked. "What were you looking at?"
"I thought I saw somebody come in, but maybe I was wrong, Jessica said, casting a smirk at Juha
Kathy followed Jessica's gaze to Julia, who was trying to make herself invisible in the corner. She then returned her gaze to the front. "Let's continue with the meeting
Julia caught Kathy's eye. Realizing Kathy wasn't going to call her out during the meeting, she breathed a sigh of relief. Throughout the meeting, made careful notes and didn't miss a single word, paying attention until the meeting ended.
On her way out, Kathy passed by Julia and said, "Come with me"
shr
After Kathy left, Valerie came over to Julia. "Ms. Powell is really intimidating. I didn't dare talk to you when she looked at you like that. Did she scold
Julia's heart raced again. "I have to get to Ms. Powell's office now. We'll talk later.
"Oh, isn't this Ms. Jackson!" Jessica approached Julia with a few girls. "You even had the guts to be late for Ms. Powell's meeting. I don't think you take Ms. Powell seriously. It's a waste how she still considers mentoring you" "She's getting ahead of herself before she even gained full support from Ms. Powell. Can you imagine what she'd be like if she did get Ms. Powell's back!" another girl chimed in
"Exactly. Never thought she'd be so arrogant," another added.
Julia listened as they mocked her. She gave a cold laugh, walked straight up to Jessica, and stared at her fiercely. "I think you know best why I was late. And I'd also like to ask why I wasn't in the group"
Jessica just scoffed and sneered. I told you all about the company rules on your first day. It's not my fault you didn't pay attention. I can't he expected to babysit you. Plus, would you have
been late if you hadn't dashed off suddenly Julia, don't think you can do whatever you want just because you're pretty. It's the first time I've seen an intern take so many leaves."
With that. Jessica gave Julia a disdainful once-over and suddenly grabbed her wrist, revealing the watch "A mere intern sportin thousand dollar watch, do you really think that's possible without a sugar daddy barking you?" "Shut up! You all have no idea who Julia really is. Valerie, unable to stand the insults hurled at Julia, stepped forward to argue.
But Julia quickly pulled her back and signaled to Valerie with her eyes, telling Valerie not to spill that she was Harry's wife
"She's what" Jessica laughed out loud. "Valerie, just a heads-up. Just because you consider julia a friend doesn't mean she feels the same about you."
"You're talking nonsense," Valerie snapped back.
Julia pushed Jessica away and backed her into a corner, her expensive watch pressing against Jessica's neck. She smirked and flashed the watch deliberately. Don't push your luck. Better not to mess with me if you know I've got a backer." 16:05 PM 1

"You!" Jessica was furious, trying to push Julia away but ended up
ins being
mocked.
Looking at Julia's watch, Jessica was filled with envy, especially seeing Julia's face and remembering how Kathy had favored her since she arrived at the company. Anger surged in her heart
Julia pinned her against the comer hard. "My patience has its limits. I just can't be bothered with your backstabbing usually, got it?" After that, she let go of Jessien, grabbed Valerie, and stored out of the meeting room.
Jessica's eyes brimmed with hate and jealousy when she watched Julia leave. Julia had humiliated her in front of everyone. She vowed to settle the score with Julia later
In Kathy's office, Julia stood tentatively in front of her, explaining the reasons for her being late. Kathy cut to the chase. "Do you think I called you here just to listen to you explain why you were late!"
Kathy's long fingers tapped the desk rhythmically. She looked at Julia indifferently.
"I don't care who you have backing you up, but as long as you're working under me, I expect you to follow my rules. How you deal with others is your business, not mine. The office is a battlefield, Julia, and I don't need apprentices without brains" Julia paused, surprised that Kathy wanted to take her on as an apprentice. She felt as if she were on cloud nine and uncertainly asked, "Ms. Powell, why do you want to take me on as your apprentice?"
Kathy glanced at Julia's youthful face, seemingly reminded of her younger self. She didn't answer Julia's question directly. "I hope you won't let me
down."
ant on me. I won't let you down. And I promise the same mistake won't happen twice," Julia said.
"Ms. Powell, you can count on me.
"My apprentices don't stumble over the same stone twice," Kathy said.
Becoming Kathy's apprentice was a thrilling prospect for Julia. Despite the scolding, she was inwardly delighted.
Everyone watched her emerge from the office unscathed and cast puzzled glances her way. Back at her desk, Julia struggled to control her trembling hands, barely containing her grin.
