I feel a sense of calm wash over me for the first time in days as me and Violet head back to the pride lands hand in hand. Losing myself to my mate was the best relaxation therapy I could think of. When we got back , we were the last ones. None of us hung around for too long , being separated was a threat and that was what I tried to keep in mind while playing the cat and mouse game with Violet. Our pleasure rushed to keep together. I saw marks all over Antheas’ neck and gauge marks on Enzo’s chest. Which none of them were ashamed were on show. I looked at Penny, shocked to see she didn’t have a mate mark yet , but with the blush on her cheeks and the sated look on Rykens, something had happened.

Enzo didn’t look too calm to say he had just indulged in his mate though. That was when I noticed Samuel standing there. Looking a little uncomfortable at the anger that was rolling off of Enzo. To a lower-ranking wolf , that would be uncomfortable. ” What’s happening ? ” I asked. Enzo snapped his eyes at me and I saw his eyes flashing. His wolf Hunter was on the edge . He looked at Violet and I could see he felt uncomfortable with what he needed to say.

” A message appeared at the pack house for my father. Just turned up magically infront of him while he was sitting at his desk on the phone to the council ” he grouched out. He passed the note to me that had been in his hand.

Tell the true Alpha to wake up our son , or we will let all of the packs know she resides on your land. Secrets don’t stay secrets for long. When that secret is what most desire. What a unique pack your son has acquired in such a short time. People also do not like potential threats. You all harboring all of these gifts could be seen as an act of war. Do you not think so ? I crumpled up the paper in my hand and threw it on the ground. Violet had been reading it also. And the fear on her face was evident. ” They have been watching us longer than we thought they had , for them to know all of that ” Enzo snapped, pointing at the paper on the floor. ” The distraction of one enemy had us distracted from another one impending. ” I added on and he nodded in agreement.

” When was the first time you used your dark magic ? ” I asked Violet and she shrugged. ” I am not sure , not long after Yianna left my body. I used it for those pendants , but before that I had tapped into it so little I didn’t think it would have been noticed ” her eyes widened. ” Yianna used to tap into it , not often. Sparsley really. But she did a few times. What if they have been watching me longer than before I even knew or met you “.

” I thought your mother said she found you recently though ? “Anthea asked. And Violet nodded. ” She did. What if they found me before? They wouldn’t tell my mother if they had. They had no reason to. Telling my mother forced me into my mother’s plan , a plan they were not interested in. ” It made sense to me , they out smart us. Know all about us. Maybe that was because they had a lot longer to study us than we have had them.

” My father spoke to the council too , this witch coven has been off the grid for a long time. When they sent a council member out to their last known location, they found it empty. It was when they went to investigate all of these attacks on packs and other paranormal groups. It seemed they visited your mother too , but no one from your old pack was ever identified as being involved. It seems she left Wallace’s coven to do the fighting “, Enzo said, looking at her.Violet nodded ” It makes sense. We have been told a few times now they have broken their connection as they were fed up of losing their coven members. “

Enzo sighed and rubbed the back of his neck , the weight of an alpha bearing down on his shoulders. ” If they’re asking me to wake him , it means they are failing to do so. We can’t wake him ” Anthea says, looking at Enzo. ” They are also threatening to out you if we don’t ” he says, looking at her lost,. He was torn between his own mate’s safety and the safety of another. I know his basic instinct is to protect her. By then, the girls can protect a spell like that by being put back on the pack “, she says.

” And what then ? leave you alone so they abduct you ? How do we get you back then ?” she looked at me. ” Well, I wouldn’t get abducted ” she smiled. ” You would ” she said a little nervously. But she had spiked my interest as well as all the others. So I looked at her, waiting for her to continue. ” When we mated , I entwined us magically. Which means I can make you shift appearances too. I’ll be you and you will be me. You are linked to the pack, and Enzo. You can be the eyes and ears and our sat nav to your location. We get the pack back and then we will come replace you and kill them all once and for all. “

She looked between us all , seeing how we felt about it. I was all for it , as long as it was not my mate being the one in danger, I would take her place any day of the week. ” Would they not sense it was not you ? ” Enzo asked. I shook my head, already knowing the reasons why they wouldn’t. ” Our hearts beat as one , and I have mated with her, so she smells like me. If they have a shifter there , we would smell like each other’s scent mixed together any way. I have her scent. And now Rion and her father are dead , they believe there is no one else that can shift appearances “, I said, and she smiled at me.

She grabs my hand and squeezes it. ” They do not know how a shape shifter mates. I ingested his b***d to appease my shape-shifter counterpart. I could share my abilities with him if I ever wished to. I just haven’t seen a reason to tell him that yet. Shape shifters are a low level. They would not have taken their time to learn much about them. Then we expect from there we are being watched. Maybe those two go out into the trees for a private conversation where the Violet they think is me is asking for Antheas’ help. ” she breathes hope in her voice that this will work.

” What if they are already watching ? “I asked the question we were all thinking. I was shocked. It was Enzo that answered ” Then we are right where we are at now , they won’t take the bate. But at least we know we are being watched if they don’t. “

My eyes stray to Penny and Ryken , and another idea forms. ” Do you think we could swap those two too ? I think they would believe Penny would follow you. She has yet to take her mates mark and perhaps its because she is planning to run with Violet and does not want to hurt her mate. That way they take me and him, I’ll have back up. And Penny will also be safe in Rykens body ” Violet shook her head.

” Not in the same way as we can , we are still us , our forms just shift to look like the other. You will still only have your wolf abilities and I will look like you, but have my witch abilities. What we could do is hop them into each other’s bodies like Yianna and her sister did. Ryken would be able to use Pennys gifts , Pennys Rykens. So they would have to be quick to study ” Violet said.

Looking at Ryken was looking at his mate. ” If this is the only way to get you back up and it is believable , I am OK with that. Dragons descend from magic , so I should be able to connect with it pretty quickly. What do you say, my fire , fancy being a fire-breathing dragon for a while? ” she looked nervous , but she nodded. ” I will help anyway I possibly can ” and with that we at least had a new plan. Instead of being sitting around waiting for them to come to us.
