I waited until the departing party was far away before I approached Anthea. ” Anthea, I need to talk to you “, I said, making sure I added desperation to Violet’s voice. She looked at me worriedly playing her part right. ” Violet, what’s wrong ? ” she asked. I licked my lips and looked around. ” They are here , I can feel them “. I told her, Penny came to our side , or Ryken should I say ” I feel them too “, he added. Anthea looked around alerted. ” We need to go get the guys then ” she said, going to leave. But I grabbed her arm and pulled her back. I shook my head at her. ” No Anthea , listen, we need a favor please. You need to help us ” she looked at both of us confused , but didn’t say anything.

I took a steadying breath , prepared to put on the performance of my life. ” Please just come with us , where there aren’t prying ears ” I whispered , nodding to the panther that had just turned up. The panther turned to look at us, obviously hearing us. And I looked pleadingly at Anthea. ” Please “, I told her. She looked torn , her acting skills f*****g perfect. But she raised her hand and the guard dropped to the floor and sleep overcame him. ” There we have no prying ears , but the guy told us not to leave here ” she argued back.

” Fine, yea , fine ” I said, looking around. If I dragged Anthea out towards the trees , what was to say? They would not take her too. I just hoped they were listening well. ” We need to go, Anthea , me and Penny. We have both agreed. We have to leave “. Anthea’s head whipped back like I had struck her. ” WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY ” she shouted and I started frantically shushing her. ” Anthea, please the guys will hear. ” I said, frantically looking around. ” Are you out of your mind ” she says in a more hushed tone. ” Anthea , you saw that note. They will out you , you will be hunted and then what of your babies. People want the one true alpha. Please help us go , help us go and try and solve this “, I begged her.

Her hands went to her stomach protectively. ” Our mates, your mates will protect us ” she lashed out like a whip , but she had placed fear in her voice. I looked at her broken, ” Anthea , the men don’t have their pack. Wake up their son and help us get to them. I can speak with them. I am mated now. I can physically not be with their son. They have to see that. Throw me out like they ask , bargain with them. Make them give you the pack back. In exchange for you lifting the spell on Wallace. And handing me over ” I pleaded with her.

” Why would they believe that I would lift my spell once they have lifted theirs ? ” I looked like I was thinking in deep thought. ” Me , I am that leverage. If they do not lift it, then I will not go with them willingly. I will run and fight every chance I get and signal for my mate. I just want to make this amicable , I just want to have a chance to go and talk to them Anthea. Make them see sense. You know my mate won’t let me do that though. Please Anthea , for the safety of your babies and all of your pack. This is all my fault. I can’t be the reason you or they get hurt. You know hunters will come, Anthea. She looks at Penny and at me. ” And what of your mate ? You are willing to leave him behind too ? ” She asks Penny ( Ryken ). Her face fills with sadness. “That is why I have not mated with him yet. I didn’t want to seal the bond because if this goes wrong and he is left without a fully bonded mate “, Anthea shakes her head and steps back from us. ” You are planning for it to go wrong ? Which makes me believe you think they will not be reasonable. How am I meant to tell Devon and Ryken I helped you go ? “, she accused.

Stepping forward, I grabbed her hand. ” Anthea , we will do everything we can to get back to our mates. But this can not be solved by them in this way. It will not protect you and your babies. I don’t even know what they want besides their son back. Now they see I have a mate now, they could just leave after that. Take their son with them. This is what all of this could be about and our mates are readying for war , it could just be so simple ” I say , not letting on the fact we know about this witch prophecy bullshit of my Violet having a kid with that f*****g psycho. Over my dead f*****g body would that ever happen. ” Why did they want you kicked out then Violet ? ” Anthea threw back , s**t she was making me work for it. But I suppose this would be what made them believe this was real.

Please, this is the only way without all of those deaths like before , all those boxes lined up on that field. I don’t want you or anyone I care about to be in those boxes, or you to constantly have to worry if your going to get snatched away or challenged or who knows what people will want with you “, I looked at her pleadingly.

Tears pooled in her eyes and she stepped forward and threw her arms around me , sobs wracking her body. ” Please come back to us , please, I love how you love us all so much to do this for us. But please , I will never forgive myself if you don’t come back ” she sobbed on my shoulder like a pro. If this didn’t fool them, I don’t know what would. Pulling away, I smiled sadly at her. ” I’ll come back. In the meantime, tell Devon I love him. And not to be angry. This was the only way. Stop him from doing anything stupid ” she shook her head. ” It will be near impossible, but I will try ” she sobbed.

” When the spell on the pack lifts , wake up their son ” I said, grabbing Penny’s hand. ” Please tell Ryken I’m sorry ” came from Penny’s mouth, and then we were both running out of the building and towards the trees , leaving a sobbing Anthea behind. ” How do we know they will come for us ? “Ryken asked in Penny’s voice. ” They will , it was why they wanted me out. For some reason, they wanted us away from our mates. I am hoping it is just to discuss maybe a truce once they have their son back “. We all knew it wasn’t, but we had to play the hopeful card.

It didn’t take long for them to appear, a couple that was aged but still looked strong. Unlike what Violet’s parents had looked like. They were dressed in ruby red robes and the aura coming off of them in waves told me that these two were his parents. But just to be careful, I kept my mouth shut , and put on a fearful face. Coming to a stop. ” Violet, it has been a long time my dear ” the woman said , with a polite fakeness to her voice. Her voice may sound sickly sweet , but her aura was screaming hatred.

Of course, she doesn’t know I know that , she doesn’t know I’m actually a wolf and can pick up on these things. I nodded ” Harry , Tanya , this does not have to be a mess “, I teased them and when they didn’t blink like something was wrong with me using their names, I pushed on. ” We could end all of this , we will wake Wallace. You can lift the spell on the pack members. And as long as you keep your deluded son away from me, this can all just go away “, I threw it out there.

The betrothal was something you set up with my parents as a deal to make those creatures they wanted to become. Well, they are dead now. You have no interest in creating those things. That is why you stopped dealing with them. So the bethrothel isn’t something that can still be honored. If you convince him I am not his , and stay away, this will all be over ” I said with a hint of confusion in my voice at why it would still be a thing , playing along with the ruse that I thought this could all be settled easily.

” That does not mean we do not with this bethrothel over Violet , you were promised and that pormise will be met ” Harry snapped. So we will lift the spell, they will wake our son and then we will disappear where they will never be able to replace you both. I suppose we have to take her now too , seeing as she has heard we will not be allowing you back. ” We both started to argue with them , but hands grabbed our arms. Looking back behind us there were atleast twenty black-eyed dark witches all in black robes. Two people came around us and snapped some cuffs on us ” So you get no idea about running off . Flanik tell the other witches to lift the spell on the pack , we are going home. Away from the stench of all of these dogs “, Tanya cackled. Before, I felt the feeling of magically being transported.
