Chapter 149

The council had just been let through at the borders , after a meeting this morning and sharing what had happened with the moon goddess. We had all decided to keep what our babies were to be a secret. No one but our closest people could know. Muting their magic and the fact they were mates was the only way forward. That was clear now. Me and Anthea didn’t like it , we understood their magic being muted. But their mating , we can feel their bond already. It was beautiful , and to keep that from them. Well , it just felt wrong. But if it was what was needed to protect them , then that is what we would do.

All of the new members were gathered , Enzo wanted them on and off of our land as soon as possible. All the newcomers from the island , and the others that had joined too. Even the panthers were there. Even though Enzo had done the decent thing and not made them apart of this pack , they kept their own pride. They had their leader and we were allies. He decided to have them here so they couldn’t accuse him of not being open with the council.

Technically, the warlock women and all other non-wolf species couldn’t be a full pack member , they couldn’t share the pack link. But they were no less members than the rest of them. Enzo had vowed them his protection and for them to have a safe place to live here. They were pack members , and that included myself. The previous alpha couple were standing with us. Enzo’s father looked pissed. He had always had a good relationship with the council , but when we described the douche bag that turned up , his father didn’t recognize him. He had always dealt with the same three people; Harold, a wolf shifter , Katherine, a witch, and Geoffery, a hybrid of wolf and vampire. But he did know Harold had a son that was in the council’s main entourage now.

Tensions were high as four black SUVs pulled up to a stop. All the windows were blacked out and tinted so you could’t see in. The drivers exited dressed in black suits. Their faces were impassive. They went around the cars and opened the doors and, one by one , the occupants left, all dressed in red cloaks. Others got out dressed in the same black suites also.

Mixed in the crowd was the smug smiling face of the man that showed up in the dark witches’ land. He stood by the side of a man that looked very much like him but the older version. Enzo and his father stepped forward out of our group. ” Long time no see old friends ” Enzo’s father said and the older guy who looked like that douche bag smiled. ” It has been a long while since we visited here “, he said, friendly, which made me confused. With how he had acted on the witches’ land, it was like we would be in trouble when they arrived.

” Forgive me for saying this, Harold , but we are a little confused about this big spectacle of you all needing to visit us. When my son returned and told me what had been said, it very much sounded like we were on bad terms with the council. ” His dad announced , and the older of the council members looked confused among themselves. ” We are here because you requested us here , when my son Marcus returned he said he saw a one tru alpha had been appointed and you requested our presence for us to meet the chosen one. We were delighted , to have a true alpha appointed in our time on this earth is a great gift we shall not see again. Why would you be on bad terms with us ? ” Harold asked him.

Enzo and his father looked at one another , and his father nodded at him. Enzo bowed his head respectfully before he began to talk. ” Sir , I am Enzo, the new alpha of this pack. It is an honor to meet you all and we hope you will stay and enjoy our hospitality. I do not wish to cause a stir within your leadership , I have Galway had the upmost respect for the council. But Marcus stated to us , that we taking in other species of paranormal didn’t sit well among the council. That us not declaring new members and titles. Well, excuse my language, but it basically pissed you all off. ” Enzo explained. Harold looked towards his son , his eyes narrowed. ” Is that true son ? “he asked him and Marcus shook his head. He had a fake confused look on his face. ” No father , I congratulated them all and accepted the invitation to come visit them on all of your behalf. ” he lied.

The other council members were looking at him also. One of their expressions, Katherine, said she did not believe a word he was saying. The other expressions remained blank. ” That’s a lie , your son was rude and acted smug towards us. From the minute he turned up to help us with the dark witches “, Enzo snapped. ” Enzo “, his father said. He looked at him as if to say, calm down son. ” I’m sorry about that , but my son was most upset when he got back here , they all were for how your son spoke to them and acted towards them , like I said we were led to believe what we had been doing was wrong , and that was what you had come here to discuss ” Enzo’s father explained.

Then Willow stepped forward , she held her chin high but I could see her hands shaking a little. ” I am sorry to interrupt. My name is Willow , I have been at the council many times, but not as myself. My body had been occupied by a warlock. I have never seen any of you there , but I did see Marcus, and a few of the ones he came to the dark witches land with. I may land myself in trouble here for accusing a council member. But I feel it strongly needs to be said. The island on which these paranormal were led to and cared for by Sianna and Rion , many more should have been among them . But the most powerful were always kept back , those that were supposed to go to the island never did. While I was at the council , I saw your son as the one overseeing this. I could not act on anything back then , seen as I was a prisoner within my own body. But the council has gained a reputation for collecting strong paranormal to keep in their arsenal, kept against their will or tricked to stay. So forgive me if I say I haven’t held respect for the council for a while , never believed that you were there to help us. Even though I heard many stories from the elderly paranormal that you were all kind and helpful. But something changed , it is known by pretty much everyone that something has happened at the council. You have only just arrived but I can see what it was that changed already. ” She eyed Marcus with so much disdain , you could feel the hatred pouring off of her.

Marcus’s features changed. ” You can not speak of the council in such ways , I order her arrest and be sentenced to treason ” he snapped. Everything changed. Raan stepped forward, snarling ” Touch her, I’ll f*****g kill you ” he warned. Marcus smiled maliciously , and it clicked this is what he wanted. i knew in that instance , this was all a ploy on his behalf. ” See , this is what I have been saying all along ” Marcus stepped forward, talking to the rest of the council . ” If you allow this much power into a pack , or a pride or a coven. They will rebel , the councils ways have been too soft for too long. How are we supposed to retain the balance , if we allow it to tip in the favour of others? We are meant to be the ones that hold power , so that we can step in and stop wars and disputes. How can we do that if that pack or whichever has then become stronger than us ? ” he holds his hands out. ” This pack is the perfect example. Warlocks , witches , dragons , panthers , wolves and whichever other species they have taken in. Let us not forget they now have the one true alpha residing here too. This pack can not be left with the responsibility of this much power. They do not have the knowledge , the ethics or the finesse for it. This is a ticking time bomb. I fear they plan to rebuke the council , over throw us in a few short years if they keep up this power gathering they are doing. She accuses us of collecting power for our arsenal , more like it is them ” he finished and pointed at us.

Murmurs and whispers were happening all around us. Accusing glances from their side to ours. ” Thats bullshit , we are offering nothing but refuge , you came here to ask them if they wanted to be here or with you. Well, do it , ask them ” Enzo gestured to all the newcomers among us. ” We have just fought two wars against evil , wars we didn’t want. All we want is to live peacefully , we are not collecting anything for any reason and we certainly do not wish to overthrow the council ” he shouted at them. Anthea stepped up and grabbed his arm , trying to calm him down.

” You say that now , and we could ask them, but you could have already brainwashed them to be here. Spelled them ” Marcus accused. This had literally turned into a s**t show within seconds. His motive was clear. He confirmed it when he said his next sentence ” We should remove all paranormal beings of power from their grasp now , we should take them all with us and refuge them at the council. It is for the safety of ourselves and the balance. Including the one true alpha , leaving her here would be a mistake , she would be hunted down and killed. All of this is for the safety of everyone. The council has and always will be the ones to keep all paranormal safe and to do that. Yes, we need weapons and power. No one should have more power over the council “, he stated, like he didn’t just admit everything Willow had just said.
