Looking to the side , I glanced at her as she stared out of the window. We had been on the road now around an hour. Looking back at the road and the car I was following. Rion , Violet and Devon were in the car in front. Me , Anthea , Peter and Abigail were in this car. My instructions were to just follow Rion. He would leave the way. The trip so far had been quiet. Anthea’s father showing up earlier had most likely dropped a huge bomb on Anthea emotionally. Looking up into the rear-view mirror, I looked at Abigail, who was starting in wonder out of the window. She hadn’t really ever left the pack land yet. My father keeps her there for safety. A lot of enemy packs would love the opportunity to get one up on us and nabbing Abigail would be the key to doing it to get to my father. Looking across my eyes clashing with Peter’s, he was looking back at me in the reflection.

His eyes flicked to where Anthea would be in his line of sight, then back at me. Then he mouthed ” She is scared “. I narrowed my eyes at him and then looked back at her. She didn’t look scared, just deep in thought. Looking back at him, he nods his head towards her at me. I looked back at her and I noticed she was twirling her top in her fingers , her foot tapped the floor of the car. Was I really that unobservant ? Rion has practically learned all her food likings already and I can’t even pick up. She’s scared. Searching for the link we shared, I tried to pick out her emotions through it, but I could hardly feel the link I had felt just a few days ago. Wait ? Was it fading ? I had felt everything she felt clearly , I knew to follow her to the cave and now I could hardly feel a thing.

My own mind was starting to go crazy. But I could hear the tapping of her foot still. Reaching over, I grabbed her hand with my spare hand. She looked at me and I gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. She smiled grateful at me and placed her other hand over mine and held my hand with both of hers. And like she had opened a tap , I felt all of her emotions wash over me again. It hit me so fast it made my heart pound for a few seconds. ” s**t ” I breathed out and gripped the wheel tighter as my vision blurred. “What’s wrong ? “Anthea asked, sounding worried. ” Dude ” Peter said, sounding anxious, maybe because I felt the car swerve.

” I’m OK ” I blinked, looking at the road hard. My sight started to clear and I could see the road, but I still felt breathless. “What the f**k was that ? ” Peter asked , sitting forward from the back seat. ” s**t I don’t know , I could barley feel our link and then boom , when she grabbed my hand like a brick all of her emotions slammed into me at once ” I looked at Anthea and she looked down at our joined hands. ” I could still feel yours ” she said , which just confused me more.

” Wait your linked ? “Peters asks and I shake my head. ” No not mating ritual wise , we haven’t completed anything like that. But we both started feeling each other’s emotions a few days into spending time with one another. I just tried searching for her emotions and could hardly feel them a second ago, though. In fact, it’s been a few days since I think about it. I hadn’t noticed. How had I not noticed I hadn’t felt them as strongly? ” my eyes flicked from her to the road. ” Baby I know your scared. I feel that now. How long have you felt like this ? ” she shrugs and looks down. ” Since the night I agreed to do this , I have been petrified. I have told everyone I’m going to be this powerful wolf and what if I can’t get the magic back or what if I do and I’m still this, ” she waves a hand at herself.

Peter growls behind us and I feel his anger. ” Still what ? ” she gives me an are you serious look and I slam the breaks on the car and pull over to the side of the road. ” Enzo, we are meant to be following them ” she says, pointing her hand towards the front window. Ignoring that, I grabbed her face in my hand and forced her to look at me. ” Has all of this taught you nothing , my father? Me ? The fates and your wolf ? We all accepted you before the magic. I just hadn’t told you before we were disturbed. I wish I had done, then you would know it to be the absolute truth. The people that matter love you Anthea. I love you. If all this isn’t what you want, I will still love you. Your brother will love you, my parents will. So cut the self-doubt s**t. I know its hard. It’s all you’ve ever f*****g done because of the assholes back home , myself included. You need to start believing in who you are and could be. It took me some time to see you, Anthea , but now I do. ” And I love you ” my sister chirps up from the back. Again, this shouldn’t be how I told her I loved her , but it was out there now. I had told her to her face. Anthea’s eyes water , her mouth opens and closes and then her eyes lose focus on me. I creased my brow. ” Anthea ? ” Her eyes roll and her body goes limp on the seat. “WHats happening whats wrong with her ? Anthea ?” Peter shouted , his hand going to her arm and shaking her. ” She did this in the woods , when she had that vision thing “. Then Anthea screams, her eyes closing as her body jerks. Rion came into vision at her window and pulled the door open. “What happened ?” he asks, looking in. ” I think she is having a vision again ” I tell him and I held her head still in my hands and watched as she jerked about.

It lasted mere seconds before her body went limp on the seat. Then her eyes flew open and she gasped. ” Anthea ? Anthea ” I shouted , her eyes unfocused, still moved, to me. ” Anthea, what happened? ” She moved in a steady breath and squinted her eyes shut , before slowly opening them. When she did, she looked more present. ” The same shadows , this time they kept changing shapes , lots of shapes in the distance. There was more fire. This time the flames kept getting closer and closer to me until I felt the heat on my skin. Then I heard this weird noise. It was so high pitched it hurt my ears. Then the shadows vanished again. “

“What could that mean ? ” I looked at Rion , but he looked to be lost in thought. He snapped out of it and shook his head. ” No idea. We can look more into it on the island. Anthea, are you OK? We need to get back moving. ” He placed his hand on her leg. Anthea didn’t seem to notice, but I did. She nods ” Yea, yea, I’m fine. Let’s go “. She takes a few deep breaths, looks at him and nods. He studies her face and then lifts his hand up and strokes her face with the back of his fingers. ” It will all be OK ” she smiles sweetly at him and I feel my teeth grit.

” Then lets go” he gets up, dropping his hand off of her face. I felt myself snarling as I watched him go to his car. ” You sure your ok sis ? ” Peter asked Anthea as I set the car back off. ” Yea all good ” I felt her hand grab my thigh. Looking over, she was watching me ,then I felt it , I felt what she hadn’t said. It wasn’t what I was hoping for. But this wasn’t about me , Anthea was going through a lot of s**t and I just needed to be there for her. ” We will figure all of this out when we get there. OK , see what all of these visions are about. Rion says they have a lot of information. s**t I’m wondering why he couldn’t tell us all back at the pack land but oh well, where going now “I shrug still feeling shitty about his hand on her.
