” She took you both to her hide out ?” Rion asked, looking between us. ” Yep ” was all I answered , I had a feeling she wouldn’t want everyone to know where it was. His face dropped a little. ” She would never take me there , she liked the privacy she had when she went there ” his eyes cut to Enzo, who was sitting across the fire. I had opted to come sit next to Rion. I wanted to get down to business. Her speaking to me earlier had raised a lot of curiosity in me. What was her plan ? Why did she feel like she had changed ?

” She was just too excited to be back, I suppose , she may not have been thinking “. I tried to console him. ” Please tell me more about her and you. How did you meet ? ” I asked him. He looked to the side at me and smiled , then looked back at the fire. ” She came crashing into my life. Me and Violet had been on the run , we had been hopping from town to town. Violet said we had to keep moving , that she saw help in our future. We were being chased by a demon. He had taken a liking to Violet , then learned of her magic and was doing his damn best to turn her evil to be like him. I was the pawn for him to get his own way “.

He looked across at his sister who was being hugged in Devon’s arms. She watched us across the fire. A sad smile on her face. ” Then we came across this village , we were camping out in a barn. Getting some rest before we moved on come daylight. And she literally crashed into our barn , she blew the barn’s door off of its hinges and her eyes found mine and I knew. The very next day, we were here and I was mated. She had been tracking the demon for months, and found him just miles away from the barn. That night he would have caught up with us again. While she was making sure he would no longer be an issue, she found a jacket of mine I had left behind from one of the last places we ran from. She scented me. Her wolf followed that scent, knowing the demon was not her mate right to us “.

He laughed and looked at Violet. ” From there our family grew here , then the council heard of us and offered there protection, like we needed it. I think they feared her. They agreed to help because they knew she was better as a friend than an enemy “. He looked around and I wondered who he was looking for. Then he dropped his voice lower and leaned into me. ” The council themselves are known for collecting powerful beings , hence Willow. But Sianna wouldn’t let us be pawns in their ivory castles. It has been a struggle to keep them at bay. They have approached us many times asking us all to move to their castles. Sianna would help them along as they left us to live our lives and not try to control us in what we do , who we fight. The council use people like Willow to win battles ” he finishes and looks back around.

It was then I realised her and her mate were not here. ” I told you they hold our new members there with them for screening, more like they try to recruit them there. And it had been working. Sianna saw that it didn’t , she would go to visit them and tell them all about us. Now only a few come through. The new ones recently , have been the first ones for years. I think they only let them come because they were with child. The ones who are meant to protect the whole paranormal community are the ones that also can not be trusted. Why are they building an army ?” he says.

I looked up at Enzo , whose eyes had been burning into me since I sat here. He has heard everything. ” It’s been a long day , so I am going to retire to my home. In the morning, all of you come around and we will make a start “. I looked back at Rion to see he was smiling down at me. He reached across and placed his hand on mine. I felt that spark run through me like a tremor. His hand turned mine over so my palm was facing up and he ran his finger across my palm. Then held still in the centre of my palm. I felt this warm sensation and then he laughed. ” So strange to feel her in you and crave her , but yet all I see is you now. I thought I would never want another in my lifetime ” he taps my palm and then sighs, getting up.

” Sleep well ” he said, walking off. I watched as he said night to people as he passed and how they all looked at him happy and smiling. The last people he said goodnight to were the new parents who sat cradling a baby in their arms happily. I almost jumped when I felt someone brush against me. Looking to my side, I saw it was Shira. ” She took you to the waterfall ? “she asked me quietly. I quickly looked around and she laughed. ” Do not worry , even your pretty wolf over there can not hear us now. Look at my mouth, I am not actually talking ” she says.

She wasn’t , her mouth had remained closed. ” I am talking to you like I talk to Sianna. through a link. Talk in your mind. I will hear you. I was Sianna’s most trusted friend. I was her council. The person she came to for advice “, she tells me. I looked her over and she looked so angelic , so dainty. Smaller than me, believe it or not. ” Yes, she took me and Enzo there “. I told her the truth. She smiled. ” Then Enzo is a lucky man ” she answered to that. ” So I am told , Rion seemed surprised too. “

She smirks ” He would be , he was never taken there. He never liked it when she disappeared and blocked their link so he couldn’t replace her. My friend Sianna , was and still is such a beautiful soul. But demons haunted her too, like they do us all. The hunt us all down, eventually, Anthea ” she looked at me like there was a hidden message there. Then she started to speak normally , her mouth moving. ” After you have been with Rion tomorrow , I would like to take you some place. Just me and you. Sianna had another favorite place on this island, one that was not kept so secretive. Plus, I can tell you just as much about Sianna as Rion can. Do me a favor though, yes ” she looked across at Enzo.

So I looked too. He , Devon and Peter were all watching me now. Kind of creepy really. ” Watch Willow with him , her coming back here does not sit well with any of us. And none of us believed for one second she would tie herself down with a mate. She rejected her own over a hundred years ago. So why bond with one now ? I shall see you tomorrow Anthea ” she smiles and gets up. Leaving me alone. This s**t was just getting weirder and weirder. Standing up, I walked over to Enzo and sat beside him. ” What the hell just happened there , you were reacting like she was talking to you ?” he asked me.

” She spoke through a link to me ” I explained. ” Did you hear about Willow and all that with the council Rion said ” I asked dhim. He nodded, ” It’s like we have just walked into a s**t storm of drama ” he commented. ” Because you have “Violet’s voice drifts towards us. ” Years and years of drama. But we must remain on the path we have set out on. And that is getting Anthea’s magic back. The rest is just politics and history. Please do not bother yourself with all of that too much. But do stay away from Willow. She is a first-class b***h “, Violet spits out. ” She will just be here as a spy for the council. Her coming back here with us was not part of the plan. But they are not a threat , they will want us to get your magic back just as much as us. You were their strongest ally. Plus as much as they like to collect their shiny things , they know one thing not to mess with, ” she adds.

We were all hanging onto her every word in suspense. ” What ?” Devon asked, too impatient to wait in her dramatic pause. ” The fates , they know them sending Sianna back is for a reason. They would not mess with them for all the power in the world. But they’re nosey bastards, hence Willow ” she adds.

Enzo grabs my hand, lifts it to his mouth and k****s it. ” Shall we go get some sleep? That run has me wiped. We can worry about all of this tomorrow ” he asks me. Nodding my head in agreement, we both stood up. And as we were walking up the path near the houses we were in , I noticed movement in the house at the side of us. I looked at Enzo, who was looking too. Willow and the supposed-to-be mate of hers were f*****g against the window , her breast smashed up against it as he took her from behind. She had a wicked grin on her face as she waved at us through the glass.
