My stomach was in my throat as the boat we had arrived on pulled back up , especially when I saw Willow on the boat too. She had obviously gone to do the same to them as they had to us. ” Why are you nervous ? ” Enzo asked behind me. Peter was standing at my side. Looking over my shoulder at him, I couldn’t even muster up a small smile. ” He’s been back home while the fall out of me coming out to everyone was going down. We came here when we had made it, so we didn’t see it. The last thing I saw when we left there was my dad apologizing for my mother , but where was she ? I have a feeling he’s here for a reason. Why would he just want to get up and come here? I guess I am just looking at it that maybe he’s here to tell me things aren’t so good “, I shrugged.

” Maybe he just wants to come and help ” Peter said, nudging my arm. Samuela came out , holding hands with Lorna. Lorna looked down at us and smiled, giving a small wave. But Samuel’s face made the knot in my stomach just get worse. His jaw was tight and he looked like he was trying too hard to give any emotions away. “Something is wrong ” I said , mainly to myself. ” Maybe he is just pissed about being put to sleep “, Devon laughed. He was on the other side of Enzo behind us. ” What could have gone so wrong? We have only been away a few days “, Peter mumbled. But he knew Samuel like I did , seen that expression like I had before.

I waited with my nerves bouncing as they came off of the boat and got to us. We exchanged greetings. But Peter cut it straight to the point after that. “What’s wrong, Samueal ? ” the pleasant-chitter-chatter died down. I held my breath while I waited for it. He looked at us , and then cleared his throat. His hand came up and he scratched at his neck. ” The night you left , a gathering formed in the village. Those that were not so keen on the changes happening to the pack all went together and were rioting. They wanted Anthea and Enzo banished if he chose to mate with her. There weren’t many of them , maybe six or seven. Before the alpha could get there for the challenge they had bestowed. Dad did. The word had spread through the pack of the challenge and the alpha had been busy in the dungeons dealing with the beta before hearing of it. Dad engaged them in a fight that they were happy to participate in. A few jumped in to help dad , but he got outpowered by Gerrick. The Alpha showed up and killed them all on the spot. Dad he. . . ” he paused.

I felt my heart breaking. I didn’t want to hear about it. If it was what I thought he was going to say then, I didn’t want to hear it. I stumbled back and felt Enzo’s arms wrap around me. Samuel saw my reaction and rushed to finish. ” He’s not dead Anthea “, he rushed out. “He is badly hurt though , his wolf isn’t healing him like he should be. The alpha seems to think it is because his and mum’s mate bond is well , it isn’t good. He refuses to see her or let her in the room. Timothy is with him. The Alpha has him in the pack house. The Luna is helping to take care of him. He wanted me to come here though , he wanted me to help protect you. I think he would have sent Timothy too if he were older “, Samuel finished, with a small smile.

” Why is their bond bad ? “I asked him and he sighed. ” They got into another fight. Dad told mum if she did not do things right. Stand up and support you rather than do what she always has and let what others think rule her. Then he would reject their mate bond. He told her he was going to do right by his daughter and if she couldn’t, she was no longer apart of our family. ” I felt tears sting my eyes. I was touched. So deeply touched my father would stick up for me in such a way. But the last thing I wanted was him and mum falling apart.

” How is the pack now ? “Enzo asked. His arms tightened around me and I knew he was changing the subject, giving me a moment to process. ” Adjusting fairly well , one or two of the older family left the pack. But besides that problem , nothing “, Samuel answered. ” Did you say Garrick was one of the rebels ? “Enzo asked and Samuel nodded. ” Then I am guessing his family is one of the ones that left. He had been on the council for years. I can not imagine his family coming back from such a thing “, Enzo commented. ” One of the wolves fighting was the oldest son. Garrick’s mate wanted no more b***d shed for her family. She was one of the ones to leave with their two other children. Your father told them it wasn’t necessary , the sins of one is not the sin of them all. But she declined. “

” When the alpha sent word through , he did not mention any of this. I’m sorry for your father “, Rion chimed in. Samueal looked at him and nodded ” The alpha did not want you all worried if the message got misenturpreted. He thought it best to wait until I got here. So now that I am. What is needed to be done ? “he asked, and everyone kind of paused. Really, nothing has been sorted out yet. ” We have been studying all of Sianna’s diaries. I found a few things but, in all honesty, we have not yet sat down and discussed next steps. You have arrived just in time to not have missed anything “, Enzo interjected.

” Lets get you all settled in ” Rion smiled at them. Willow came walking across the beach and as she did , we clocked eyes with one another . She was watching me with a knowing look and a cocky smirk. Her ever present sheep of a mate was trailing behind her as they walked off in front of us.

I narrowed my eyes at her retreating back. What exactly was her game ? When Rio was doing his show and telling my brother where everything was , I couldn’t help but watch her. Everyone else here always blanked her and acted as if she didn’t exist except Rion. She said something quietly to her mate , and, thanks to the wolf hearing, I heard her say she would meet him back at their house. He agreed like a good little pet and wandered off. She nodded her head towards the supply shed , wanting me to follow her. Running my hand down Enzo’s arm to gain his attention , I told him exactly where I was going.

He looked up in that direction and saw Willow walking that way. ” I’ll be fine “, I told him. ” I’m just going to go grab some supplies ” I said, for the benefit of the others. ” If you need some help carrying stuff just shout ” he said , meaning if whatever she wants isn’t right. But he was letting me go with no arguments. I mean it wasn’t far , but the fact he was meant allot , because he didn’t like Willow one bit. And I doubt he trusts her. But he knows I wouldn’t follow her without reason.

” I will be back in a second “, I told him, and followed her down. When I stepped into the shed she was filling one of the baskets up with stuff. ” No body guard , impressive ” she said without turning around. ” What do you want ? “I stood near the doorway. I wasn’t that stupid to get too close to the viper. She turns to look at me over her shoulder and looks me up and down. ” We just haven’t had the chance to talk to you and I , I mean, I know you think I am the wicked witch of the west. But I am not the villain those happy hippy folk think I am. I did not try to split up a mating. Well, I did, but he asked me to. No one thought of that as an option, nope. I was the bad guy. Everyone thinks matings always go so perfectly. Trust me, they do not. One night back on this island and he was already trying to crawl back at my feet saying how sorry he was, he let me take all of the blame. We were in love. Meh , I realized how stupid I was for that “.

She turned to look at me ” You thought you’re different , since on the boat your energy is all different. Your energy now matches Shira’s “. I froze. s**t , could she have figured something out? The magic , that was the only thing that matched me and Shira , we both had some of the magic in us. She looked me up and down , her lips pursed. She looked to be deep in thought. ” Sianna had the same energy too ” she mused. I felt my heart pound. Like it was about to spring out of my chest. ” I know they were linked. Oooo, maybe Sianna linked them and now she’s with you. That’s why I sense it in you too now. Why would Sianna want to link herself with that hippy witch ? She’s nothing special. So I will offer you myself , a better, stronger witch. We could link ” she grined.

” Linked ? “I asked dumbly. She roweled her eyes ” Yep linked , us witches of magic users whatever capacity it is in we can link our magic , it makes us both stronger “more like her stronger off of my benefit. Yea good one. ” I don’t have any magic ” I tell her and she rolls her eyes again. ” Yet , silly. We link. You can share my power and then you return the favor when you are the stronger one. ” Never in a million years. ” I’m good thanks ” I told her and her smile dropped. ” What will you link with her too ? “she snaps and I shake my head. ” No , I’m not linking or whatever it is with anyone. I don’t even have any magic yet . We have to replace these warlocks first”. She huffs ” Shira keeps tabs on them for Rion , go ask her. But you may need some magic to go against them. See , linking me would help you ” Was that her whole game of being here to get to Sianna’s magic. Could she be behind it all ?

” Just think about it , all I am here for is to help. Nothing else, no matter what the rest think. Just trying to level the playing field for you, and to give you a heads up as a friend. Rion is great in bed , you’ll miss a treat if you don’t bag that one ” she winked. And then she just sailed past me , like she had no care in the world. And she had’t just made Sianna growl inside my head with jealousy. I watched as she crossed paths with Enzo. It seemed my time had run out for me to be there with her alone.
