I bit down into the fuckers neck and heard the satisfation of the crack. Its body went limp below me , so I unhinged my jaw and stalked backwards. That’s when I felt her despair through our link. ” ANTHEA ” I shouted to her through our link. ” It didn’t work , she’s hurting Willow and I can’t stop her. ” I looked over and saw Willow’s body in the air convulsing , and I watched as Yianna raised her other hand up at the sky. A loud screech made me look up. Raan was swooping down above them. Yianna did something because Raan’s advances were stopped. He just proceeded to hover like Willow was. Yianna looked back down and her eyes landed straight on me and she smirked. The big dragon turned it’s huge head and looked my way.

s**t , I watched a little frozen as his big mouth started to open. Quickly, I linked everyone . ” MOOOVVEEE EVERYONE MOVEEE ” I shouted through the pack link . Before I started to run, myself, I heard the whoosh of the flames leave the dragon’s mouth , and used all my strength to jump out of its spray. I felt the heat scorch at the back of my legs as I dodged it just in time.

” YIANNA STOP , WE HAD A DEAL ” Anthea shouted at her. Yianns laughed ” Deal , like I would adhere to a deal. You killed my sister. You tricked me into believing my mother could come back and I could meet her. Why would I just walk out of here without causing you pain, little Anthea? Your mate will die , and leave your things fatherless. Then we will adhere to the deal ” I heard Yianna say. I looked up to see Rykens dragon. He was circling around Raan’s, who had clearly been compelled. I saw what he was about to do. Which would lead to a lot of people on the ground getting crushed by two dragons. I did the only thing I could tell my pack to do. ” RUN , EVERYONE RETREAT BACK. MAKE THE PANTHERS FOLLOW YOU OFF OF THE CLEARING , HEAD TO THE RIVER AWAY FROM THE VILLAGE “. At least this way they would be away from her and the dragons.

Wolves all around me started running off of the clearing, Ryken must have took that as my agreement to go ahead. Rykens’ dragon swooped down , its clawed feet landed on his brother’s back and knocked him from the skies. Both the dragons’ big bodies landed on the ground with a massive thud. I ran around the two dragons that were now fighting and headed towards my mate and the b***h, I had hope that the plan would work. The moon goddess had approved of it also. I didn’t understand , but right now I couldn’t just run away. If we didn’t end her, this woman would always taunt us , and the evil she would spread now would be damaging.

As I got them back in my sights, I saw her lift Anthea up. ” Stop Alpha “, Yianna shouted as she made Anthea’s floating body turn to face me. Anthea was shouting something but whatever she had done meant I couldn’t hear her. ” Now you have a choice , come at me and you shall witness your mate die. Or you let me kill you , no questions asked , no fighting back and your mate and your pups go free ” she smiled at me as I slowly walked on my paws a bit closer. I shifted back and stood up. I couldn’t communicate with her as a wolf.

” You are not good at keeping your word, as soon as you kill me. You would most likely kill her. ” She nodded in agreement. ” True , but are you willing to take the risk that I am lying and she dies anyway ? ” I looked up at Anthea , who was shaking her head back and forth. I could tell she was screaming no. ” Moon goddess why ? ” I asked internally. We thought that this would work. I was sure of it, now it has come down to this. It wasn’t even a choice I had to make , my life would be traded for hers any day. We were all out of options , all out of choices. The girls were meant to pull their magic back if it went wrong. I can only imagine they have tried to and she has stopped them from doing so somehow.

I studied my mate’s beauty. She was as beautiful as any angel. ” Anthea , you have owned my heart long before I was able to admit it. I would not change you or our short mating for the world. I wish we could go back to the cave and relive that week all over again ” I smiled sadly at her. The tears that ran down her cheeks told me she could hear me. Without a second thought, I dropped to my knees and held my hands at my sides, palms up facing the skies. I can’t think of a better reason to die; a more noble reason to die in the hopes of saving the one that holds your heart. The one who brings light to your day , the one who shines brighter than the sun. Even if this was another lie , I couldn’t watch her die , at least if I was already dead. I wouldn’t need to see it. As selfish as that reason is.

” How many times do I have to prove love makes you weak ” Yianna spat. I felt what I could only describe as a punch to my chest. Then, like a vise, it had gripped my heart. Suddenly, I could feel every beat of it. I opened my eyes and looked at Yianna. She had dropped Willow , and it looked like she had taken her magic back from Raan as he now cradled Willow on the floor back in human form. They all looked at me sobbing and I coughed , trying to catch my breath. What could they do to help now ? Nothing , she would just remove them or compel them. They all looked at a loss. I saw Rhiala come running out of the woods , having changed back. She looked at the situation and went to run at Yianna. ” Stop ” I gasped out. ” No one “, I took in a deep breath as I felt the vise squeeze tighter . ” No one do anything “, I managed to get out on a gasp as the vise tightened again.

” Let this end ” I looked at Yianna , who smiled as she looked at me. The sick b***h was enjoying this. I felt my heartbeat start to slow. Each thump felt painful , each breath I took felt shorter and shorter. I looked up at Anthea . And she wasn’t looking at me. She couldn’t watch. I fell forward with my strength leaving me. I looked at Yianna and saw something. Behind her a light was coming forward. Was this the light they all spoke about?

But the closer it got, the more I saw a face , a face of someone I recognised. ” Goddess “, I whispered. She raised her hand up and placed her finger on her lips. Now she was standing right behind Yianna. I could see her over her shoulder and I watched as she placed a hand on her shoulder. Yianna looked there confused and looked behind her. Then her head threw back. ” More ” Yianna said, laughing. ” You see me for my worth , finally ” she laughed hysterically. The vise on my heart eased. I gasped in gulps of air. I looked around and everyone was looking at Yianna like she had lost her mind. Did they not see the goddess ?

Yianna kept laughing and laughing, the sound becoming an echo around the opening. The goddess rolled her eyes behind her. And stepped back, a soft satisfied smile on her face. I looked on confused. What had she done ? The laughing abruptly stopped. Yianna stumbled. ” No ” she whispered , her eyes bouncing from one place to another. ” No , no , no ” she said frantically. ” It is mine , mine, mine, mine ” she chanted, her hands going to her head. ” I am strong , no, I can have it,, it is mine ” she said dropping to her knees gripping her head still.

” AHHH , NO AHHHHH , NO PLEASE AHHHHH STOP STOP , NO ” she started to scream in pain. The moon goddess leant forward and whispered something in Yianna’s ear. ” NOOO IT’S MINE , YOU CHOSE ME , YOU CHOSE ME. I CAN DO IT ARGGGHHH “she screamed. The moon goddess said something else and placed her hand on her shoulder again. ” STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT ……. RILASCIAMI ” she screamed loudly. Anthea dropped from her hovering , all the girls seemed to take a sharp breath. And the moon goddess grinned and she stepped back. And then she appeared in front of me holding her hand out. ” Get up Alpha ” she smiled. I placed my hand on her and she helped me stand up. ” I got to be part of this story “, she smiled. Then she looked down guilty: ” If I had not taken so much of Anthea’s magic back it would have been enough to work. For that I apologise. I just came to tip the scale in the right direction “, she looked up smiling.

” Is that not against the rules ? ” I asked her, smiling. ” I was not here ” she said, her eyes narrowing on me in a mock threat. ” I do not see you “, I said, laughing. She nodded and looked behind her. The warlock females had appeared out of knowhere and they were standing around Yianna, who was looking up at them in fear. ” This has been my favorite love story so far , now I must go or you will miss the ending ” she laughed. She disappeared in front of me , in time to see Anthea running at me. When she got close, I opened my arms out ready to capture her in an embrace. But what I got instead shocked me. She slapped me on the chest multiple times. ” A*****E ” she snapped.

” DON’T EVER DO THAT AGAIN ” she said as more blows landed on my chest. I grabbed her hands as they came down to land more blows and dragged her to me. Engulfing her in my arms. ” We are OK , it worked ” I said against her head as she sobbed into my chest. ” Only just ” she got our around sobs. ” She nearly took you from me ” she sobbed. I couldn’t answer that because she did, and I would do it all over again if it meant saving her. ” Come on, it looks like everyone has got their magic back ” I said, pulling Anthea’s head up with a finger under her chin. Leaning forward, I kissed her lips softly. We walked back over and it looked like the warlock women had it covered , they had a score to settle. ” How do you like what you were doing to the alpha? ” Dataneye spat at her.

No one came to save her , no one stopped it. Everyone just watched on as she took her final breaths. And everyone remained watching after she had stopped breathing. I think people just wanted to make sure. As soon as she was gone, the panthers all stopped fighting , and so did the dragons. There were casualties and dead bodies everywhere. I ordered her and her sister’s bodies to be burnt , just in case.
