Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 147
Dereck refused to give up. He came after them and continued in a mocking tone, "Don't go... Aren't you going to blacklist the bank? I really have to see it with my own eyes. Didn't you like to brag? Why are you chickening out now? Are you afraid you will get embarrassed when nothing comes of it?" Gavin quickly chuckled and chimed in, "I'm sure he is just trying to save himself from embarrassment. Mr. Redfield, shall I send someone to stop them? Why don't we break their legs and collect some interest?"
Dereck waved his hand and said happily, "It's fine. This is just the beginning. There will come a time when they'll kneel and beg me. It's no fun if I finish them off quickly."
"Mr. Redfield, you certainly have foresight," said Gavin ingratiatingly.
The two of them laughed cockily as they watched Adam and the others leave the bank.
Dereck took his phone and called Silas.
"Mr. Camden, it's done. This was an excellent move. Hartley Group is powerless and completely under our control. It's too bad you weren't around to see their sorry faces. It was simply awesome."
Silas chuckled and said, "Well done. This is just the beginning. After we cut their funding, they will have to liquidate all their assets!"
Dereck laughed triumphantly and said, "When the time comes, we will make a killing."
Silas acknowledged happily before he asked, "Do you like your present? She's very submissive. I really got a kick from hitting her."
Dereck abruptly stopped smiling. The moment Silas mentioned Amelia, he thought about his legs and the humiliation he had suffered at Longslide Resort yesterday. "She was all right. I did give her a whipping, but I quickly got bored, so I told her to make herself scarce," he said mildly. He did not want Silas to learn of the embarrassment he had suffered yesterday.
After chatting briefly, they ended the conversation.
"Gavin, now that the deed is done, I'm going back to the hospital. Call you sometime soon," said Dereck and bid him goodbye.
"Sure thing. Call me anytime. You have my word that the Hartley Group won't be able to get a single loan from us." Gavin wheeled Dereck out of the office.
When they got to the bank entrance, a black Hummer pulled up at the entrance swiftly. A brawny man stepped out of the car when the door opened. Dereck's eyes instantly lit up as he smiled coolly. He unexpectedly got his revenge today and even got a little surprise, so it was really stroking his ego. Dereck went up to the brawny man, smiled coldly, and asked, "Nelly, are you here to put in a good word for the Hartley family?"
The brawny man was the owner of Longslide Resort, Nelly Brooks.
"Do you want to help them? There's nothing you can do about it! You chose to help them yesterday and not me, so you asked for this. If you call them now and sever ties with them, I might reconsider and give you a chance to redeem yourself." Nelly looked at Dereck as though he were a fool. He frowned and asked solemnly, "Are you stupid or something?"
Dereck and Gavin were dumbfounded.
This was not what I had imagined!
"Nelly, what is the meaning of this? I dare you to say it again," said Dereck furiously.
"I know you are here to put in a good word for Hartley Group, but just look at your attitude. It's no use I tell you. They are dead ducks!"
Nelly shook his head. "From the looks of it, you're a fool. I don't understand why I did not realize it earlier. Hartley Group? Would I need to put in a good word for them? I don't know what you are thinking. Why are you so certain of yourself? You do not pose the slightest threat to Mr. Drake. How could you compare to the man? Idiot!" he scoffed condescendingly.
Dereck had never suffered such embarrassment. He nearly wanted to jump out of his wheelchair and throw a punch at Nelly.
"If you are not here to put in a good word for them, what are you doing here?
Nelly ignored Dereck and turned to look at Gavin.
"Mr. Sanders, I have to say you have a bad taste in friends." He shook his head and retrieved his bank card. It was a platinum card with diamonds on it. It was the bank's diamond card.
"I want to withdraw my money."
Gavin nervously took the bank card with both hands and asked, "How much would you like to withdraw?"
Gavin recognized Nelly since he was a very important bank client. Dereck had introduced the two. Since he had created an account and banked in hundreds of millions of dollars, Gavin was promoted to branch manager.
Nelly rolled his eyes and said coolly, "I want to take all my money."
Gavin's legs went limp, and he slumped squarely on the ground with a thud. "Ev-everything?" he asked, with his voice trembling.
Nelly laughed coldly. "Every penny. Your bank has already been blacklisted. What else were you expecting?"
Gavin was terrified. He said miserably, "We don't have enough cash in the branch."
Nelly's bank account was Longslide Resort's business account, so it had a lot of cash in it. If he wanted to withdraw all his funds, all the funds combined from every Rivers Bank branch in Lisle would be unable to come up with that kind of money. Nelly sneered and said, "I don't care where you get the funds from. Just give me my money."
Gavin nearly knelt in desperation. Nelly clearly wanted to stop working with Rivers Bank. The main office had given him a promotion when he had landed a major client, so they would naturally demote him if he lost this client. What should he do now?
Gavin turned to look at Dereck and said imploringly, "Mr. Redfield, can you say something?"
Dereck was equally stunned. He looked at Nelly inconceivably and asked, "Nelly, are you really going to do this for the good-for-nothing? You have taken things too far."
Nelly scoffed and retorted, "I don't give a damn how you feel about this. I want nothing to do with you."
Dereck's face flushed in embarrassment. He wanted to put in a good word for Gavin, but he did not know what to say. He gritted his teeth and said angrily, "Give him his money. I'll call Redfield Bank for funds!
"Considering the amount, I'm sure we can come up with the cash with the help of my family's bank! What else could the good-for-nothing possibly do other than send you to withdraw money?"
Nelly laughed in disdain. "You are too naïve."
The moment he finished his sentence, a Maybach pulled up at the bank followed by a Rolls Royce. Before long, dozens of luxury cars had pulled up in front of Rivers Bank. This was clearly just the beginning and far from ending.
The car doors opened, and several important men got off the vehicles. Since they were busy people, they usually did not even visit the bank personally. The moment they saw Gavin, these men took out their bank cards and told him what they wanted. "Mr. Sanders, I'm here for my money. I want to withdraw everything!"
"I want to withdraw all of it!"
"Me too!"
All of them were diamond card holders.
Gavin had just stood up, but he slumped back onto the ground again. He trembled non-stop as he looked at Dereck desperately before glancing at these men in disbelief. How could this happen?
