Chapter 490

Even though the Jarrett family was currently the most prestigious family in Clusia, Jean hadn't been raised to be a spoiled rich girl.

Jean had never been one to chase after luxury brands. Watching Cherise being so warmly welcomed, she couldn't help but think how impressive Cherise was, her face full of admiration. However, the excessive enthusiasm from the waitresses began to annoy a few customers still inside the store.

Just a moment ago, these waitresses were all hovering around her, and now, in the blink of an eye, they had turned to greet Cherise.

One customer, visibly irritated, spoke up. "Didn't you say we were the last customers for today? Why are they welcomed? This goes against your store's policy and service standards.

"Is this some kind of special treatment? We came all the way from Hesperia just for this. Are you trying to ruin your reputation by treating customers like this?"

The woman who spoke was a Clusian, yet she spoke in Hesperian.

The store, aside from the clothes, shoes, and bags on display, was spacious and almost empty. Many of the customers at Taylor Vogue were multilingual and affluent. Almost everyone in the store heard her words.

Cherise and Jean, of course, heard it too. Just as they were about to head upstairs, they stopped.

Turning around, they saw a well-maintained, impeccably dressed woman sitting on one of the sofas on the first floor, Lucia.

As Cherise looked down, Lucia met her gaze and looked up.

Lucia exuded an air of arrogance mixed with the haughty attitude of the wealthy.

But when their eyes met, Cherise's cold gaze made Lucia hesitate

Cherise let out a quiet scoff and turned, leading Jean up the stairs without a word.

Lucia, seeing this, became displeased.

To Lucia, this was a blatant display of disrespect. With her status in Hesperia, she had never been treated so rudely before.

Fuming, she stood up and called out to Cherise and Jean's retreating figures. "Stop right there."

Jean felt a bit uneasy, but Cherise, holding her hand, continued walking as if she hadn't heard a thing.

Lucia's tone grew more forceful. Seeing Cherise and Jean ignore her, she quickened her pace and caught up. "Ladies, didn't

hear me say stop? you

"Are you deaf? Hey, you clearly said you weren't accepting anyone else today. How come they're allowed to stroll up without showing any reservation? Did you let in friends or relatives? Are you playing favorites here?" Her voice grew louder, attracting the attention of other shoppers who began to wonder what was going on.

Lucia was catching up quickly, while Cherise and Jean moved at a leisurely pace, so it wasn't long before Lucia, shouting loudly, overtook them and blocked their way.

The waitresses immediately gathered around. "Madam, we do not allow disturbances here."

Jean didn't know what to do in the face of Lucia's forceful attitude, especially since they hadn't made a reservation. "Cherise, is everything alright?"

Cherise shook her head and whispered, "It's fine."

When Lucia had been standing below earlier, she had only seen Cherise from a distance, planning to question her again. But upon seeing her face up close, her voice began to soften.

Now, something about her face seemed oddly familiar, and she had an aristocratic air.

But Lucia could not let go of her questioning attitude. She couldn't afford to embarrass herself.

After straightening her posture, Lucia addressed them again, still in Hesperian. "Why were you allowed to come in without a

reservation?"

She pointed at the waitresses. "Did you let them in because they're someone special? Or is this so-called reservation system just a joke?

"I know the group that came in just before we had all made reservations a week in advance. If you've been letting people in through the connections, I'll report you to the authorities and expose this to the media."

The waitress, eager not to disturb the other customers, quickly explained, "Ma'am, this young lady is allowed to come and go freely at Taylor Vogue."

Unexpectedly, Lucia immediately cut her off. "I don't want to hear from you. You're just a waitress, and you're obviously going to defend her for the store's reputation. I want to hear from her."

Lucia pointed directly at Cherise.

Cherise crossed her arms, watching the scene unfold. It had been a while since she'd encountered such an unreasonable woman. She wondered if Lucia's age and fluctuating hormones were causing her to act this way, affecting both her emotions and intelligence. Unbothered by Lucia's antics, Cherise kept her arms crossed, exuding a calm and unbothered demeanor.

Lucia, seeing that Cherise wasn't even acknowledging her and kept silent, quickly concluded that Cherise must be guilty of sneaking in through the connections and was too ashamed to admit it.

Lucia threatened to speak to the owner and demanded an explanation, both for herself and for all the other customers.

The waitress was caught off guard, unsure of what to do.

"Cherise..." Jean asked, now visibly nervous.

Cherise smirked and then spoke up. "Madam, I can tell by your accent that you're Clusian, so I won't speak to you in Hesperian.

"You should be able to understand what I'm saying. Must you be so self-righteous in front of everyone? Like a madwoman throwing a tantrum? You've been loud and obnoxious from the start." Lucia, momentarily stunned, raised her voice. "Did you just call me a madwoman?"

Cherise gave a cold smile. "Would you say you're not one?"

The atmosphere became incredibly awkward.

One of the onlookers, perhaps feeling that Cherise had a point, couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Lucia's face turned bright red. "I don't care. I want to see whether she has a reservation. If she doesn't, you need to throw her

Just as Lucia finished speaking, a soft, calm voice came from the
