Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) -
Chapter 1106
Jonah stepped aside, clearly letting Sophie pass.
Two bodyguards opened the door to the presidential suite, revealing an empty room except for the sound of water running in the bathroom. Jonah took this as his cue to leave, promptly closing the door behind him.
Sophie instinctively reached for the door, but her eyes were drawn to two cups of steaming coffee on the table.
Had someone else been here just now?
The room was filled with the scent of tobacco, specifically Odie's usual brand of cigars, yet the ashtray on the other side was spotlessly clean. So, the other person didn't smoke?
As Sophie pondered who could have met with Odie, the bathroom door suddenly swung open.
There stood Odie, a towel draped around his neck, loosely wearing a bathrobe. Sophie looked him over without any intention of diverting her gaze.
Odie had wanted to startle Sophie, but seeing that she didn't turn away shyly like other women, but instead scrutinized him closely, made him feel uncomfortable.
He suddenly remembered the last time he took a bath, Sophie had stared at him in the same manner!
Didn't this woman have any sense of shame?
"What are you staring at? Haven't seen a man before?"
Odie's words didn't make Sophie avert her eyes. "You're dressed, aren't you? Can't see anything worth looking at." "You..."
Odie was at a loss for words.
Her blunt words had some truth; he was decently covered!
Odie then sat down on the sofa, casually picking up the cup of coffee. Ready to take a sip, he. paused, sniffed it, and then disdainfully poured the coffee away. "Why are you following me?"
"To see if you caught the person who tampered with the car."
"You certainly don't mince words, stating your suspicions so boldly."
"Mr. Odie, my suspicion is for my own safety. If it was Mr. Odie who had someone tamper with the car, staying with the Minton family would be like walking into the lion's den, wouldn't it?"
"Sophie! Do you have no conscience? I'm trying to replace the culprit for you, and here you are, accusing me!"
Seeing Odie get angry, Sophie felt she had achieved most of her goal.
Nice try! I don't believe I can't get the truth out of you!
Sophie, fueled by her momentum, continued to provoke him. "Mr. Odie, it's just a hypothetical situation. My following you was merely to satisfy my curiosity. But now that I think. about it, it really does make sense... After all, Mr. Odie and our family, especially Colby, have always been at odds, and it seems you bear quite a grudge against me... What if..."
"Sophie! I came here entirely to see..."
'Beep-'
Just as Odie was about to reveal the truth in a moment of weakness, Jonah swiftly used his key card to open the door. "Boss, it's getting late, shouldn't we be heading back?" The argument between the two had been loud enough for him to hear every word from outside.
Sophie obviously had Odie cornered, intentionally provoking him to reveal who he had met with, and their boss had taken the bait all too easily.
Jonah's interruption brought Odie back to his senses.
Maybe it was the effect of the bath that made him so gullible, allowing Sophie to manipulate him with such a simple tactic.
Odie, now replaceing humor in his frustration, said, "Sophie, you're trying to provoke me into revealing who I met, aren't you? Well, dream on!"
