Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) -
Chapter 1139
Daniel realized he had put his foot in his mouth and quickly tried to backtrack, "I-I really had no idea! Honestly! Mr. Odie, I've been nothing but loyal to you all these years..."
"Loyal?" Odie echoed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Fine then, prove your loyalty by joining your daughter in death."
"What?!" Daniel was blindsided by Odie's harsh words. He stammered, "Mr. Odie, I'm the head of the Gibbs family! How can you treat me like this? Aren't you scared I'll spill all your secrets?"
"As long as you're breathing, feel free to try," Odie said, spreading his arms wide. "If I were scared of you, I'd be a coward. Go ahead, expose me. Let's see if you make it out alive or if my bullet gets to you first." "You..." Daniel's words trailed off, knowing full well how quick Odie's bullets were.
"If you tell me who you've been working with, I might just let you live. The choice is yours-think it over carefully," Odie said, sounding almost magnanimous.
In the old days, even if Daniel had snitched, he wouldn't have made it out alive. Gritting his teeth, Daniel looked up and declared, "It was really Ms. Vanessa, no one else."
Odie's smile faded, his expression turning cold. "Oh?"
"Go ahead, Mr. Odie, do your worst! But let me tell you, don't think you're the king of Summerfield. Compared to that person, you're nothing!" Daniel's defiance only served to infuriate Odie.
"Good, very good," Odie sneered, taking a few steps back. "Don't worry, I won't dirty my own hands. I'll have someone you'd never expect take care of you."
Daniel froze, his mind racing. Someone he'd never expect?
Just then, Polly walked in slowly. Daniel eyed the unfamiliar face, racking his brain but coming up blank.
"Who are you?" Daniel's confusion was evident.
Polly's face was a mask of indifference until Odie tossed a handgun to her. For a moment, emotion flickered across her features.
"You've always wanted to kill him.
Now's your chance. It's up to
you kill or don't kill," Odie saidel.net
leaving the decision to Polly
Polly stared at Daniel, the man who was her father in name but had no memory of her, his illegitimate daughter. Stepping closer, she said, "You despicable old man, you deserve to die."
"What are you doing? Who are you? I don't know you!" Daniel backed away, panic setting in.
"How many women have you hurt? How many illegitimate daughters do you have? You probably can't even keep track," Polly said coldly.
"You're my daughter? Daughter!
Please, save me! I don't want to die!"
Daniel scrambled to her feet,
begging for mercy, but his eyes were locked on the gun in her hand. Polly trembled, memories of her friend's death, her mother's suffering, all flooding back.
But in the midst of her turmoil, a conversation with Sophie surfaced in her mind.
