On one side, Sophie was taking a detour to Burke International, humming to herself in the car, totally at ease. Seeing her so carefree made Timothy frown with concern.

Was Sophie missing some crucial sense? He had to admit, Colby was indeed something of a legend, but expecting Colby and Jenna to take on the boss's top fighters was a pipe dream. Her husband was on the brink of death, and she wasn't worried at all? What kind of family was this?

Adler, sitting in the passenger seat, chimed in, "Timothy, don't stress. Your family is protected by Odie now. Even if you blow your cover, they'll be fine."

Timothy stayed silent. It wasn't the Spellman family he was worried about; it was the mission's possible failure. If Sophie managed to take over Burke International, that would be the real disaster. Meanwhile, at Burke International-

Elodie had just arrived and glanced at her watch. Colt suggested, "Ms. Reeves, the meeting starts in ten minutes. You should head up and prepare."

"No, I'll wait here a bit longer," Elodie said, standing at the entrance.

Colt remarked, "Bea's already gone up. It might not be appropriate for you to wait here."

"Oh?" Elodie raised an eyebrow. "I heard you were once James's personal assistant. What now? You take orders from Bea?"

Colt answered evenly, "I serve the best interests of the Burke family and act as their assistant."

Elodie retorted, "Is that so? Loyalty should be consistent. If you switch sides too easily, your loyalty seems cheap. For instance, if I become the CEO of Burke International, I certainly wouldn't want a secretary like you."

"Whether Ms. Reeves wants me or

not is your call. I serve the Burke family's interests. If they had anyone else Bea wouldn't let an outsider like you become the CEO."

"I'm well aware. But after today, I'll be the boss here. Who gets dismissed or stays will be up to me."

Elodie looked at Colt, saying, "Colt, go tell Bea I'm waiting for someone. Don't worry, I'll be on time for the meeting."

Colt frowned, clearly displeased with Elodie's actions.

In the meeting room, Bea and the shareholders were already gathered. Hearing Colt's message, Bea expressed her frustration, "On such an important day, who could she be waiting for?"

"Bea, we have five minutes left. We can't let Ms. Elodie continue like this."

"She hasn't even officially become CEO and is already acting so high and mighty. Colt, tell her if she doesn't want to be Ms. Reeves, plenty of others do!"

""Understood."

Colt turned to deliver the message, but as the door opened, Elodie was already there.

With a slight smile, Elodie asked, "Bea, today is supposed to be a good day. Why the long face?"

Bea sat down and coldly stated, "Everyone's waiting for you. Today is your inauguration. If you don't care, we might as well cancel it."

"How could not care? I'll make sure

not to let everyone down. As the future CEO of Burke International, I'll work hard to earn even more money for everyone next year."
