Elodie took her place at the head of the table, addressing the room, "Sorry for the delay, everyone. I was waiting for something important. As you all know, I don't yet have Mr. Burke's forty-five percent shareholding. I needed to get that transfer agreement before we could

wrap up the handover ceremony, right?"

*Knock, knock*-a sound came from outside the boardroom.

"Come in," Elodie said.

Griffin entered and handed a document folder to Elodie, all eyes on him.

"Why the delay?" she asked.

"Sorry."

"It's alright."

The documents were in her hands now, so a little delay didn't matter. She opened the folder and found a thick stack of papers. The first page was blank. She flipped it over and was met with an animated sequence of a turtle, ending with a fist next to the turtle, which slowly raised a middle finger.

"What's the matter? Didn't you say you had the share transfer agreement? Why the long face?" Bea asked, her focus solely on the forty-five percent share transfer. Elodie closed the folder, her tone icy. "Thank you all for electing me as the new head of Burke International. I have other matters to attend to and must leave now." "Elodie! Wait!"

Just as Bea was about to stop her, the boardroom door swung open.

Sophie walked in, smiling. "Ms. Reeves, why the rush? Didn't you like the gift I sent you?"

Elodie's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Was it you?"

"Sophie! Who allowed you here?" Bea's face twisted with anger.

The thought of her grandson abandoning the family business for this woman infuriated Bea even more. "Someone get her out of here!"

"Bea, calm down. I came here with the forty-five percent shareholding of Burke International in hand. Jt. wouldn't be appropriate to kick out your largest shareholder, would it?"

The room fell silent in shock.

"What? Mr. Burke's shares are with her? How is that possible?" "Does that mean, Ms. Reeves, you handed the shares back to her?"

Facing everyone's skepticism, Elodie's expression cooled. "Ms. Sophie sure knows how to play her cards. Even now, holding onto the shares so tightly. Are you really that reckless?"

Sophie put on an innocent face. "Ms. Reeves, who said I'm clinging to the shares? I'm here on behalf of Mr. Odie, the largest shareholder of Burke International." The mention of Odie puzzled the shareholders even more.

"Odie? What does Odie have to do with this?"

"How did Burke International's shares end up with Odie?"

Sophie stepped forward, "I'm here to relay a message from Mr. Odie. He does not approve of Elodie taking over as CEO of Burke International. He sent me to ask you all, will you listen to him or Bea?"
