"What's

going on?"

Sophie was confused.

Out of nowhere, why was "going on" even being mentioned?

Sophie glanced at Adler and asked, "Didn't I tell you to pick up Odie and bring him to Burke Estate? Where'd this 'going on' come from?"

"He didn't like my car, insisted on a luxury ride, and so my car ended up right in front of him! Naturally, the assignment came to me!"

Hearing this, Jenna yanked Adler by the ear and demanded, "When did you start moonlighting without telling me?"

"Ouch, ouch! It's just a side gig! I've been running errands for Colby all over the place, giving someone a lift along the way is no big deal."

"Do you give lifts to women too?"

Adler, trying to placate Jenna, said, "It's all random assignments, sometimes I don't even know if it's a guy or a girl. But! You're the only one who's ever sat in the passenger seat." Jenna let go of Adler, saying, "That's more like it!"

Odie didn't have time for their lovey-dovey chat. He asked directly, "When can I start at Burke International?"

"Just wait."

"Wait?"

"Within twenty-four hours, I'll make sure Mr. Odie starts his position as the new CEO of Burke International."

Hearing Sophie's words, Jenna whispered to Adler, "This is the first time I've seen someone so eager to start working. Burke International is such a mess right now, who would want that?"

"Actually, there was that Elodie who

popped up out of nowhere, she was eager to be the boss of Burke International," Adler shook his head in disbelief. "I really don't get what's going through their heads. It seems some people are actually rushing to work."

Hearing their whispers, Odie glanced at Adler and said, "I'm still here."

"Oh, you can hear that?" Adler said, "I thought Mr. Odie was blind and deaf, knowing nothing."

At that, Jonah made move as if to teach Adler a lesson.

sif

Odie stopped Jonah, saying indifferently, "He only has the chance to make snide remarks now, let it be."

Once he's at Burke International, in Devonport, he'd have the authority.

There was no need to squabble with Adler here.

"You haven't told me why we need to wait twenty-four hours."

"I want the ten percent of shares that Elodie holds," Sophie said. "I want them now."

"Sophie, are you planning to exchange Elodie's ten percent of shares with that old lady from the Burke family?"

Jenna frowned, "How could that be possible? If Elodie was willing to give up her ten percent of shares, then Bea from the Burke family wouldn't have come to you."

"Exactly."

"It's simple. Reeves Entertainment is

currently a losing business. As the soon-to-be CEO of Burke

International, Mr. Odie just needs to offload this worthless business at a low price, and the Reeves family will be hit hard."

Jenna was even more puzzled, "How could just a small Reeves Entertainment cause a big hit to the Reeves family?"

"Businesses are interconnected.

Elodie, with her thunderous tactics

at Harbor City's Reeves

International, indeed had a knack for business. But coming to Devonport, her carefully built Reeves

Entertainment failed. Initially,

acquiring Burke International would have been a comeback, but if Burke International cancels the

no

collaboration with Reeves Entertainment, it means Elodie would have no industry left in Devonport. Elodie spent so much of the Reeves family's manpower, resources, and capital, only to end up with a huge loss in Devonport. Do you think, upon returning to Harbor City, the heads of Reeves International would still respect her?"
