"The Reeves family didn't have much to begin with. It was Elodie's shrewdness that got them a foothold in Harbor City. But Elodie likes to go it alone and has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way there. None of those old-timers were ever truly on her side. Now that she's cost the Reeves family a fortune and they've lost the Burke family's backing, the elders are definitely thinking about pushing her out. Elodie needs to come up with some serious cash if she wants to keep them quiet."

"Are you saying the Reeves family might use this as an excuse to oust Elodie?"

Jenna suddenly got it. "So, Elodie has to pay back the money Reeves International lost, or those old-timers will use this as a chance to get rid of her."

Sophie nodded. "Even though Elodie owns ten percent of Burke International, those are her personal shares and don't benefit Reeves International's shareholders. If she can't sell those shares to cover the company's losses, the shareholders won't let it slide. So, when the news hits Harbor City that Burke International is selling Reeves Entertainment for cheap, the shareholders will definitely demand that Elodie cover Reeves Entertainment's debts."

Before Jenna could celebrate, Odie, who was next to her, frowned. "Hold on, I'm the major shareholder of Burke International. Did anyone ask for my opinion while you were making all these plans?"

"That's brilliant! Let's see how Elodie stays on her high horse now!"

"Mr. Odie, I didn't ask for more money from you to buy the shares, did I?" Sophie said. "Stop acting like you're getting a raw deal and still complaining. Besides, Reeves International and the people backing it are connected to us, and we're all in this together..." "Quit nagging, haven't I agreed already?"

Odie couldn't stand nagging. Seeing that Odie had agreed, Sophie finally smiled.

Meanwhile, in the study upstairs.

Colby sat across from Gordon and got straight to the point. "I know you've got deep plans. You know whatthe Devonport treasure is, don't you?"

"There's no treasure in Devonport."

Gordon's tone was indifferent.

BUMS

But Colby pressed on. "If there's no treasure, then those people are wasting their time, and you wouldn't have gone to such lengths to present the gems to her."

Gordon just smiled lightly. "Colby, you're overthinking it."

"Am I overthinking, or are you hiding too much? You've set up all these schemes, there has to be a reason."

Gordon replied coolly, "All I've done is to lure out the person behind the scenes, that's it."

"You explain it to everyone, I'm not getting involved."

Colby stood up, clearly not buying Gordon's explanation.

Gordon, however, slowly said, "I've always hated explaining. You know that. If there's something I don't want to talk about, even if someone put pliers in front of me, they

couldn't pry it out of me."

Hearing this, Colby rubbed his temples. He knew this conversation was never going to be easy.
