Revenge is Best Served After Reborn (James) -
Chapter 1178
Bea looked as fragile as a wisp of smoke, a faint trace of weakness etched on her face.
"Colt's been waiting at the door. I'll bring him in now," Marian said as she stepped out to fetch Colt.
Colt entered and stood beside Bea. "Bea, what do you need?"
"I've decided... to use all my savings to buy the ten percent of Burke International shares that Sophie holds." "Bea..." Colt frowned, troubled.
Wouldn't this leave Bea with nothing? It seemed like a losing deal.
"I've made up my mind. Help me up first."
"...Alright." Colt helped Bea to her feet. She moved slowly to the safe and used her fingerprint to unlock it.
Inside the safe, there was only a key and a card, nothing more.
Bea took the key and card, then said, "Go wait for me downstairs. In half an hour, we'll head to the Vault."
Colt was taken aback. The Vault! A place where the wealthy stored their treasured possessions, from jewelry to property deeds, as long as they paid the hefty yearly fee. The Vault's security was said to rival that of a national treasury-impossible to steal from. "Is Bea planning to give all her money to Sophie?"
"What else can we do? Do you want Burke International's shares to end up in the hands of strangers?"
Thinking of this made Bea's frustration surge. Her grandson, whom she had raised for most of her life, ruined by Sophie. If she had another chance, she would never have let Sophie enter the Burke
family. But it was too late for regrets
now.
"...Yes, Bea."
Downstairs, after a short wait, Colt saw Bea, dressed impeccably in an elegant white cheongsam. She looked regal, though her face bore the inevitable marks of time. "Bea, let's get in the car."
Bea got into the car, and Colt drove them to the Vault.
Upon arriving, Bea handed over her card. The receptionist, recognizing Bea, smiled warmly. "Bea, here to deposit something again?"
"I'm here to retrieve items," Bea replied coolly.
Hearing this, the receptionist maintained her polite demeanor. "I'll have someone take you to the vault."
"Okay."
Soon, a staff member escorted Bea to the innermost part of the Vault, taking the elevator down. The staff remembered how Bea used to chat with them about her collectibles, their origins, and their worth
This time, Bea was silent, so the staff member tried to make conversation. "Bea, what would you like to take back today?" "This time, I'm taking everything."
Hearing Bea's words, the staff
member wisely held their tongue. Taking everything? In their
experience, clients who retrieved all their belongings were usually in
trouble, on the brink of bankruptcy.
