I was greatly exasperated by Carlos' insults and derogatory remarks. Just then, a cold voice sounded from the hallway.

"Really?" the voice said. "Are you sure we can't survive in the fashion industry without you?"

I raised my eyes to see Ethan standing in the corridor, his face cold and grim. Why was he here? Did he and Carlos plan this?

I didn't have the mental capacity to ponder that question. I just had to handle whatever came my way!

"Ethan?" Carlos was surprised to see him too.

Although Ethan was a nobody in Carlos' eyes, he could sense the overwhelmingly cold presence Ethan gave off. Carlos even fretted a little seeing him there.

Ethan walked over to us, his eyes never leaving Carlos' face.

"I doubt it," said Ethan coldly. "If no one could survive without you having their backs. Don't you think you're too full of yourself, Carlos?"

He continued, "You leech off your parents. You're a useless parasite. You can't do anything at all. Do you have it in you to survive out there?"

Carlos' face turned beet red. I could see his lips trembling from rage, but he didn't know how to retort. He probably never thought Ethan would humiliate him in front of so many people.

"I... I'm Carlos Miles! How dare you talk to me like that!" Carlos yelled, furious. He finally managed to say something after so long. "My dad's "

"So what if your dad's the president of the Erudian Design Association?" Ethan snapped. "If it weren't for him, would you have made it so far in the fashion industry? Stop thinking that you can do whatever you want because of your dad's fame. To me, you're just an immature brat!"

Ethan's voice was stony. He spoke clearly, and his words hit home. The overbearing air of dominance he gave off stunned even Carlos, who was now at a loss for words.

Carlos opened his mouth to say something, his face drained of color. He seemed to have a hard time voicing his thoughts.

He stammered, "Y-You don't scare me!"

Ethan sneered. "Is that so? I doubt the entire fashion industry would collapse in your absence."

Carlos was so pissed that he started trembling out of rage. "Ethan, you've gone overboard! My dad won't let you go for this!"

"Let me go?" A corner of Ethan's lips tilted up into an indifferent grin. "He'll be busy replaceing a way to save himself from losing his position and power before that."

With that, he unlocked his phone and browsed for some information on the dark web for a while before making a phone call.

"Hello? Is this Darren Miles?" Ethan

said. "I'm Ethan Grayson. The

Erudian Design Association is having a change of board members soon, right? Perhaps I should provide a few suggestions... For

example, your son, Carlos G

"Stop! Don't call my dad!" Carlos yelled, his face pale.

He panicked, and his tone changed when he spoke again. "Come at me! Don't drag my dad down!"

"Drag him down, you say?" Ethan stared coldly at Carlos. "You didn't know when to stop when you went around making trouble for your dad! Stop assuming that you can do whatever you want because of your background. A person's capabilities speak for themselves!"

His words hit the mark, rendering Carlos speechless. Carlos opened his mouth to talk back but failed to replace the words to defend himself.

"That's it. Go back to where you came from." Ethan waved his hand to dismiss Carlos. "Stay away from Evelyn. Don't mess with her again. Otherwise, you will face my wrath."

By then, Carlo's was so pissed yet

scared that he couldn't move. He met Ethan's cold gaze, turned to look at Lianne, Kevin, and me, and finally realized that nothing good

would come of it if he stayed
