Sasha Swift 2 late to Die -
Chapter 2
Zane
I can’t believe what I am seeing. My beloved is right in front of me. I run over to Sasha without even thinking as I grab onto her shoulders making sure it’s real and I’m not hallucinating. After she dumped me we haven’t seen each other. She acts like I don’t exist and I won’t admit it hurts more than it should.
“Sasha w-what? How? W-what are you doing here?” I mumble over my words.
She opens her mouth to answer but then I hear a swooshing sound behind me and her green eyes turn into a deadly glare as I feel a hand grip one of my shoulders.
“Zane I thought you were going to wait for me?” Robin speaks behind me and I know I have a lot of explaining to do.
Sasha backs away from me frowning. A look of betrayal spreads across her face as I feel my chest tightening up. I can feel her heart breaking. Why did Robin have to show up right now?
“What the fuck Zane! Do you have a new girlfriend already? And her!” She shouts and instead of being hurt anger rushes over me.
I grit my teeth together trying to keep my fangs from unleashing. “Really Sasha? You left me remember? You ended things, you broke my heart. Was I supposed to wait around for you forever so you can push me away like always!” I yell and I can tell my eyes are red as I feel Robin behind me trying to pull me back.
“So that gives you the right to move on!” She yells before looking down at the ground. “You said I was your soulmate or was it all a lie, Zane?” Her voice lowers to a whisper.
She looks back up at me and her eyes are starting to water and I feel like the worst person ever. Sasha is my soulmate, my beloved. I love her and when she broke up with me I lost it. I went on a drinking binge and then a killing rampage. Humans, supernatural creatures, really just anyone I could replace. Looking back I’m still ashamed of myself. I always tried to refrain from killing humans when I fed from them I never take too much and I always compel them to forget. But losing her, it was too much.
But one night at a vampire bar I ran into Robin. Robin is the nicest vampire I have ever met. She also happens to be one of my oldest friends. Sasha has always been insecure about our friendship. The whole time we were together she refused to meet Robin and was always insisting more was happening between us or Robin has feelings for me. But it’s not true. Sasha is my one and only. I can’t even look at other women now. But do I tell Sasha this? No way. She broke my heart.
I decide to be petty and make Sasha jealous. Robin being a good friend will play along. Since Sasha left Robin has been staying with me in our guest room. But Sasha hasn’t been home so she doesn’t know.
I bite my lip and reach out for Sasha but she backs away farther. “I woke up and you were gone. After a year of us living together. You just get up and leave. Only leaving a note telling me not to follow you. Can you really not expect me to move on with someone else?” I ask her.
Sasha cuts me off putting her hand up. “I don’t want to hear it. Apparently, our breaking up was a good thing. I hope you're happy now.”
Happiness. It's something I haven't felt in a long time. I was never truly happy until I found Sasha. We were friends first before we became lovers. I still regret pushing her away after our first time together. I thought she was better off without me. That I was a danger to her. Turns out she's been slowly pushing me away our whole relationship. I think she's the dangerous one.
I feel Robin let go of my shoulder. She sticks her hand out foolishly waiting for Sasha to shake it. “I’m Robin. And you must be Swift. I heard so much about you. I can’t believe we’re finally meeting.” Her smile is the only one in the room.
In a split second, Sasha pulls her gun out and points it at Robin’s chest. I move in front of Robin who is beside me shielding her from any future incoming bullets. I growl at Sasha. “Don’t! If you hurt her then you’re hurting me.” Robin's one of my best friends. I can't let Sasha kill her.
Sasha narrows her eyes and then moves the gun from Robin to me. She presses the gun to my chest aiming for my heart. If I didn’t see her hand start to shake I would surely think she would pull the trigger. Maybe if I let her the heartbreak will finally be over.
She slowly puts the safety on her gun and then places it back in her holster as she backs away. “I would kill you but I have to think about Theo. He wouldn’t want this. But If I see you again either of you. I will kill you both.”
I reach for her again but she pulls out her grappling hook and shoots it towards the roof. She glides toward the ceiling and I crank my neck back to watch. I see her stand above me on the broken glass.
“Goodbye, Sasha.” I whisper as she flips me off and runs away.
Robin engulfs me in a hug. I hesitate at first but then hug her back. She rubs circles on my back as I look into her brown eyes. “I know it hurts Zane but you two will work it out. I have a feeling you will see each other soon.” Robin smiles at me as we walk away together. She is so nice it’s hard to be mad at her.
Robin has psychic visions which help a lot. This warehouse full of werewolves had come to her in a dream but she never said Sasha would be here. Either she didn’t see her or didn’t tell me. Robin is very secretive about what she sees only giving me a few details of her visions.
As we use our vampire speed to head home my mind is hoping Robin is right and Sasha and I will cross paths again. I had given up on us ever getting back together but after today I know I can’t give up. I love her and I know she loves me.
Sasha is mine and I’m hers.
