Chris got up from the bed and took his slippers from the shoe rack. He wanted to get his mind from what it had been think all day long. It was on a Saturday afternoon and still he had spent all day in the bedroom. All he did that day was his morning routine and then he stayed in his room.

He didn't go to work on Saturday and lately it's like everyone is avoid him like a plague. It's been one week, yet no one is happy with his return from his honeymoon. He thought that they would be happy but they weren't. In fact they were mad at him especially his mother.

He did understand her getting mad at him but not to the extreme that she had taken the matter. Bernice had not even said hey to him when he got back from his honeymoon with his wife. Instead, she acted like he didn't exist which wasn't fair to him. It wasn't if you asked him. He had tried for one week and still no word.

She has made it her mission not to talk to him. Not even during dinning time. She would bring a conversation that did not involve him. Like asking Maya how her patients were doing? How she was planning to go and pick up her best friend from airport when she landed and other things. All Chris had to do was stay and eat his food that a times he felt like he was going to throw up.

And all of this was for what? For him making their honeymoon short? That's why she ignored him for one good week and made sure that she stayed in his mansion so that he could feel her hurt? Chris closed the door behind him and started walking at the hallway.

It was his fault that he had cut the honeymoon short. They were supposed to stay there for two weeks but he made his personal assistant come up with something that only he, he could handle and no one else. Little did he know that he would face the consequences that he had not thought of before.

And why did he do that? Why did Chris call the honeymoon short? He couldn't have stayed and be happy with Kimberly for another week but he didn't. He wanted to go back home. He wanted for Maya not to experience what happiness is. He didn't want he to run into that kid of a boyfriend again and that's why when he saw he walk away with him without tell him where they were going, he thought of that idea.

That is why when he went back to his hotel room, he called his PA in the middle of the night and asked for that favor. At first, he said everything was running well in the company and that is all that took Chris to snap. He even treated his PA's job for him to get what he asked for. And for sure he did. But his mother and best friend weren't convinced at all.

Wesley was mad because they were never out of country and he also let Kimberly follow them. That why he is at home on Saturday when he is supposed to be playing long tennis with his buddy. But no, he won't even speak to him apart from matters concerning the company. It hurts him so much but he has no one else to blame apart from Maya.1

It's her fault that his week has been like this. Hers that no one wants to talk to him. When he asked her that they were leaving, she should have asked questions. She should have refused but she didn't. Instead she packed her bags like the good puppet she was. She knew very well what she was doing and that's why she never complained.10

She had made her move in the game of chess. It's like Chris forgot about his queen and now he was paying for it. He didn't protect her and that's why Maya had made a smart move. A move that he had not seen all the while. But it was time for him to make his even if it made him enduring it just to see her suffer.8

He wanted he feel rejected as he had felt for the past one week. He wanted her to have the pain of having someone you love so near yet but giving you attention and that is why he had made that phone call before he walked out of his room. Dinner time was his pay back time and that is what pushed him to wanting to go and play piano in the music room.

Chris took one stair case at a time. His mansion was so urge that a time he wondered why he even bought it. Before, it was just him and Alma who doesn't even sleep there. All she does is come to cook for him and off she goes when she is done with her choice. His mum comes to visit once in a blue moon and neither does she stay for long. Her longest stay is one week and that is when Chris tries all his best to convince her. But this time, she stayed for two weeks to hurt him.

So when he wonders why he bought the mansion. All he tells himself is because of the location. It's not near the other mansions around the estate and is what he was looking for. Something that is isolated. And he got it. The house that is surrounded by big trees that bring in fresh air everyday even when one feels like they're suffocating they can't.

Chris walks in the living room where there are no sign of anyone there. His mum and Alma went to church after lunch and when Maya walked to his room one hour later with puffy eyes, he didn't bother with her. After all, it was her fault that his loved ones won't talk to him. So all he did was guess that it was a bad day at one. She didn't even spare him a glance and it's not like he was begging for it.

All she did was step in the bathroom and after ten minutes, she had changed into a short and a tee shirt that was written at the front. He wanted to read the words but she was out of the door before he could do it. It wasn't his fault that her day was messed up all he had to do is pray that it would always be like that.

Chris took his left to the music room. It felt like ages since he played that piano to an extent that his hands were inching. But he came to a stand still when he heard the noise that was coming from the room. Someone was playing the piano but there was something wrong with the song that was being played.

He pushed the door opened and there, Maya sat playing it. Her hair was pulled in a messy ponytail and he could see the way she struggled to make the song sound good in the piano. That made him move at the front of her only to see tears rolling down her cheeks.

Call him a monster or whatever you please but that made a smile form on his face. She was the one who was making the moves in game of chess yet she was crying. He felt like his problem weren't problem a all and that's why he did what he did next. Push her out of the piano without minding where she hit.

He saw the shock in her eyes but he didn't care.

"The next time I replace you in this room," he pointed an accusing finger at her. "That will be the day I'll bury you alive. Do I make myself clear, Jezebel?"2

He watched her get up holding her head with one hand where he assumed her head was hit. The other hand wiped her tears away as she hot up from the hard floor.

"Yes, Mr. Rollins."

"Good, now walk out of this place before I do something worse than just shoving you away."

Maya walked towards the door and he watched every step she took. Then he remembered something.

"Ooh and please, go wear something decent we're going to a dinner date and we're meeting someone that would really want to meet you."

And with that, he turned and started playing the piano. He heard the door open and close and he couldn't help the smile that was planted on his face. Tonight, he gets to make his move and he can't wait.4
