Chapter 30

The reserved private room was set on the sixty-seventh floor of this hotel.

As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, Sophia felt uneasy.

Because the entire hallway that led to the private room were bodyguards in black suits and darksunglasses, standing at regular intervals.

She suddenly understood a little about John's instructions and Patrick's hesitation when he helped hersave the dog.

However, it was very likely that the other party was a complicated character to deal with this time.

She also understood a little why he only brought himself and her with him on this business trip.

From her point of view, it was not difficult to see that the other party was cautious, and the instinct ofself-preservation was very strong.

If Patrick took more subordinates, it would give the other party a sense of oppression.

So Patrick deliberately kept a low profile and only took Sophia.

Just one person.

Patrick tried to restrain himself as much as possible.

Patrick wanted to give the other party a perfect impression, but Sophia ruined everything Patrickprepared for.

They walked to the door of the private room.

Patrick took off his suit jacket and handed it to Sophia.

"Because we're late, I have to drink more wine later as a form of apology. You have to help me getsome hangover medicine outside and give it to me while I am still sober. Then, you can go ahead andleave me here. You can go back to the hotel"

Sophia was inexplicably disgusted with his reaction at this time.It sounded like he was taking care ofher.

If he just blamed her with just a few words about how she helped the dog, it would make her feel betterin her heart.

They were now nothing more than an employer-employee relationship, and it seemed a bitunreasonable for Patrick to take such care of her.

"I will bear the consequences’’ Sophia took his suit jacket.

The clear and pleasant smell of his body filled her nose.

"Do you know the difference between the boss and ordinary employees?"

Patrick said slowly, "It is when everyone is helpless and does not know what to do, the boss still has away."

Sophia was feeling incredulous.

Was it an illusion? Why did she think that these words of his were comforting her? Patrick approachedthe door.

The bodyguards at the door opened it in a well-trained manner.

Chris, who was sitting at the head of the table, was smoking a cigarette.

The other Smith Group of Companies executives were seated at the table, and their expressions wereslightly serious.

"One minute and seven seconds.President Evans, you're a bit late.Fortunately, I haven't finishedsmoking this cigarette.Otherwise, you would only see an empty private room."

Chris' words sounded like he was giving in to his anger.

Even Sophia, a lowly employee, felt extremely uncomfortable when she heard it, let alone Patrick, whowas a proud and arrogant man. There were only two empty seats on the entire table.

Patrick walked to one of them and pulled out the chair. He indicated that Sophia should sit first.

"A second is extremely precious to Mr.Smith.Unfortunately, I am not that talented, so I will punishmyself with wine and drink a glass every second that I am late. How about that?" Patrick offered.

Chris took a puff and exhaled the smoke slowly.

"Well, Mr.Evans, don't misunderstand me.It's better for me that you are late tonight rather than youbeing drunk.Too much wine will hurt your body’

"I will be fine with several glasses of wine, don't worry about me.If I drink this wine, then please excuseme for my being late"

As he spoke, Patrick picked up the wine glass in front of him and emptied it.

Chris was a person who could read another human being pretty accurately. He knew that Patrick'sactions were full of sincerity, so he smiled.

"Young people are always impulsive. If I were your age, I would never choose to hurt my body.Sit down"

Chris gave him a way out, so Patrick naturally had to back down.

"Mr.Smith is really broad-minded.I can't be compared to you"

Although Chris said he would spare Patrick, he told his subordinates to toast Patrick.

But unfortunately, after a round of drinking, Patrick had already drunk more than ten glasses of wine.

The social activities at the table seemed to be prepared for men.

They smoked and made polite remarks that others would have difficulty understanding.Their topicsranged from domestic to foreign, and there was nothing they could not talk about.

Sophia took advantage of the bathroom break to buy hangover medicine. She handed it to Patrickunder the table.

Patrick's left hand was resting on the table, and his fingers were holding a cigarette.

When his right hand felt something, he subconsciously held it.

His palm was very dry and warm, and Sophia's hand was cold.

She wanted to pull her hand back, but he didn't let her.

Instead, he leaned over and heard his voice on her ear.It was a little low, and he sounded enigmatic.

"I'll take a few more glasses of wine. You'll take the opportunity to leave first. No one will notice"

Her ears heated up as if the words from his lips combined with the alcohol on his breathe were like fire.

Sophia smiled as she withdrew her hand.

She didn't say anything and just followed his instructions.

No one noticed the difference in how they treated each other, or even if they did, they pretended thatthey didn't see it.It was already evening when they returned to the hotel.

Sophia had bathed the puppy. It was still feeble, and it couldn't walk.

Nevertheless, she had managed to save his life.

Sophia was pleased. She laid down on the bed and looked at the puppy. She would touch its soft fur andpat its little nose.

It was a very magical thing to think that one word from her could determine the length of the dog'slife. She thought that since she had given it a new life, she had to give it a new name.

So, Sophia guessed that since she picked the puppy during heavy rain, she should call the puppy"Typhoon."

"You will be called Typhoon in the future, understand?" Sophia touched its soft belly again.

Only then did she get into bed contentedly and close her eyes to sleep. She heard some movementoutside the door. She wanted to move and look, but she fell into a deep sleep in the next second.

The following day, Sophia woke up and saw Typhoon. The puppy had also just woken up and waswagging its tail.

She patted its head and got up.She went to the bathroom and washed up.

Then, she readied herself to ask Patrick about his schedule for the day.

At eight o'clock, the hotel staff came in to clean up.Sophia did not go out.
