Single Mother: Struggling With The Dangerous CEO -
Chapter 33
Chapter 33
But it was good to talk about it.It was better to discuss it now than to keep avoiding and hiding awayfrom Patrick.
In the underground parking lot of Evan Enterprise, Sophia arrived ten minutes earlier than the agreedtime. It was the first time Sophia came into the said building. She had heard before that the overalldesign of the Evans Enterprise building was very flashy and bold.
The top twenty-seven world architects from fifteen different countries pooled their minds together anddesigned the building.
Understandably, the underground garage was designed perfectly and creatively, using charming colorsand modern lines to increase the three-dimensional space of the garage.
Unfortunately, Sophia was not in the mood to appreciate it.She just wanted to quickly talk with Patrickand then rush to the hospital.
When she was patiently waiting quietly at the side, a clear sound of a face being slapped came fromone of the building pillars at her side.
Sophia was so shocked and couldn't do anything but keep silent while she overheard everything fromthe side.
"Lianna, I didn’t recommend you to Patrick to fall in love with him.I didn't give you this opportunity foryou to cross me.Don't you dare test me!"
Adrianna crossed her arms over her chest after she said her warning. She didn't know if the parking lotwas too quiet, but her voice sounded especially gloomy.
Nevertheless, she seemed dissatisfied with what she had uttered and added, "Remember that Patrickis only mine. The others are just flings and nothing more. So, keep your interest off him.
Liliana covered her swollen left cheek as she wickedly smiled and asked, "Since Patrick is yours.Whatare you afraid of?"
Adrianna gave her a last warning look and meaningfully said, "Do you really think that you can handleme? Remember to take what happened today more seriously."
After her warning, her shiny and luxurious high-heeled shoes stepped on the ground and its soundgradually disappeared from the area.
Sophia initially wanted to hide until Lianna was gone to spare her the embarrassment.
Still, she didn't expect that she would take the initiative to come over, or did she notice her from thestart? "Lianna; Sophia muttered.
She looked as if she wanted to leave right there and then.
"Sophia, if you want to laugh at me, then laugh."
Lianna’s cold voice sounded behind her.
Sophia frowned and nonchalantly rolled her eyes.
"What is there to laugh about?" she asked.
"You're planning to just let him go?" Sophia guessed it correctly.
Lianna's prejudice against her came from Frosford City.
Sophia didn't try to pretend to be confused, "My apologies, but I don't want to answer that question"
"You don't want to answer it, or you don't have the courage to answer it? Poor Sophia, are you surethat you don't have any improper thoughts about him?"
Lianna’s voice was already a little strained.
Sophia understood her feelings, but she disagreed with Lianna's way of doing things.
"Lianna;' she said, "what right do you have to ask me this?"
Sophia demanded, throwing away Lianna's status as a superior to her.
"I don't care who you like and who you love, and I don't give a damn.On the other hand, who I like isalso none of your business, right?" she boldly asked.
Sophia sighed and took a deep breath. She felt that her visit to Frostford City today was a bad idea.
"Mr.Evans should not know that Adrianna is so bossy in private, right?" Liliana questioned.
Then she continued walking forward and added, "Your cousin is an expert in disguise.Otherwise, howcould she defeat anyone, including you? Am I right?"
"Do you want to say that all of these things happened because Patrick loved her and trusted her?"Lianna added.
"Well, it's pointless, Lianna. It's useless for you to provoke me.I can't use you as a shield to competewith Adrianna. You've already seen the answer, Sophia muttered.
Sophia hated herself. She had seen everything too clearly. It was too evident.
But maybe it was better to be confused sometimes? Walking out of the parking lot, the torrential rainbegan to wreak havoc in the city again.
Frostford City's was still so cold and rainy despite it being summer. It had always been like this for manyyears. It seemed that the only one who could be relied on in this world was herself.
Patrick stood at the elevator entrance of the underground parking lot.
His tall figure was half leaning on the car, and his fingers were holding a cigarette.
He had already smoked half of the cigarette he was holding.Adrianna had just walked over from theother end when she saw him from afar.
"Oh dear Patrick, why are you here?" Her voice sounded so soft and sweet.
"It's nothing.I just went to watch a show” Patrick said as he inserted one of his hands into his pocket.
Adrianna asked, "What do you mean? What show?"
"A show about two sisters fighting over a man” he answered meaningfully.
Adrianna couldn't tell whether he said these words in jest or if he was serious.
"Are those kinds of shows what you're into nowadays?"
Adrianna walked over and embraced Patrick's arm intimately.
"Because I recently concluded that to see is to believe that's why I'm here. You have to be careful’Patrick answered.
"When I was young, it was always easy to believe stories which were just made up.I felt that I was at adisadvantage and would miss out on many things that should be cherished in my life.I regret mydecisions back then."
"Patrick, what are you talking about? Why can't I understand you?" Adrianna frowned.
"It doesn't matter’ Patrick said as he pulled another cigarette and lit it up.
After Sophia was transferred to the General Manager Office, her workload increased by who knew howmany times, so she was forced to quit her part-time job at night.
Fortunately, her current salary was enough to pay for her mother's medical and Emma's dailyexpenses.
Otherwise, she would feel distressed if she could not provide for both fees.
The cooperation with the Smith Group was not over just yet.
Because of this matter, Patrick had been working overtime these days, and even everyone in theGeneral Manager Office worked overtime with him.
Sophia was newly transferred and was still a novice compared to the old staff members of the GeneralManager Office.
So, she had to learn everything from scratch.
After a long time, her workday ended at eight o'clock instead of five o'clock at night. Her fingers typedquickly on the keyboard until she typed the last word.
When she was done, she raised her head and stretched her waist.
Only to replace out by looking from left to right that everyone from the General Manager Office had left, shewas now alone in the building.
Glancing at the clock, it turned out that it was already 8:30 in the evening.
No wonder everyone had left.If Sophia continued, no bus would be available for her to ride homelater. So, she quickly decided and stored the documents.
Sophia fixed her messy desktop, turned off the computer, and got off work.
After confirming that the power was turned off, she immediately locked the door.
However, she did not expect to see Patrick when she walked to the elevator entrance.
Sophia felt a little embarrassed.
There was a president's special elevator designated only for his use.
Why did he not use that? Why did he have to come and squeeze into an elevator with the employees?
"You just got off work? Why?" Patrick asked her.
"I had a lot of work to do" she briefly responded.
This was the first time they were alone after that ridiculous night. He looked completely unaffected byher presence while Sophia felt so uncomfortable. But she could not exactly tell why she felt like this.
The two entered the elevator together.
Sophia deliberately stood in the inner side to keep a distance from him, but the space was closed, andeverywhere was filled with his intimidating male aura.
Patrick reached out and directly pressed the button on the first floor, but she had to go downstairs.
She had no choice but to lean over and reach out to press the button, but she was easily held by hisbig hand.
"I'll send you back,'' he quickly said.
Sophia drew her hand back as if she had been shocked by electricity. As she laughed softly, the cornersof her lips twitched.
"How can I trouble President Evans?" she asked with honorifics.
"No trouble, you don't need to be polite."
Patrick cut off her act of courteousness.
His tone was neither light nor heavy, but it was filled with extraordinary elegance. The corners of his lipsheld a gorgeous smile as he leaned over to look at her.
Sophia wondered if this man was trying to seduce him with his charming vague stares? However, herthoughts were interrupted by the sudden shaking of the elevator.
The lights went on and off several times before the elevator was covered by the darkness that even aperson's fingers could not be seen even if they stretched it out.
Every woman had their fair share of weaknesses or fears.
For Sophia, she was afraid of total darkness and thunder.
"Pat...Patrick, " she stammered as she called out to him.
Just a while, she was disgusted with the expression on his face. But now, at this time, Sophiasurprisingly needed him.
