Single Mother: Struggling With The Dangerous CEO -
Chapter 34
Chapter 34
‘Are all women afraid of the dark?’ Patrick thought to himself.
"Don't be afraid.You are not alone.I'm here!"
Patrick exclaimed to reassure Sophia.
As a result, Sophia subconsciously moved closer to him, towards the exact source of his voice to lookfor a sense of security in his arms.
From her side, warmth gradually enveloped her.
Every word that came out of his thin lips was surprisingly pleasant to hear, putting Sophia at ease.Heextended his arms and Sophia's body was instantly engulfed in a powerful embrace.
She was dumbfounded.
When she recovered, she tried to struggle out of his arms as she exerted strength.
Only then did she realize how strong and frightening this man's arms were.
"What are you doing..."
Sophia's unfinished words and protests were drowned in Patrick's sudden passionate kiss. His lips andtongue were soft and possessive. He greedily seized her scent and explored every nook and cranny ofher mouth. He tasted her like he was deprived of food for weeks.
While she could not help but feel him and notice how manly his scent was with the faint smell of smokelingering about.
Sophia noticed something different about his attitude toward her, especially with the way he waskissing her.She knew it was just a kiss between two adults.
What difference could there be? But she felt from his passionate kiss that he cherished her.
He moved carefully in an effort to avoid hurting her.
This alone showed how gentle he was to her.
She forgot about her fears, their current situation, the darkness of the elevator, and everything aroundthem.
What remained was their warmth and passion as they made out.
Sophia instinctively drove away all her worries at this moment.
Sophia had no idea that she could be like a man, that she would be able to bravely and honestly moveto satisfy her urgent physiological needs.
Was it because she hadn't done it in a while that she was longing for it? After a long time, Patrick finallylet her go when he realized that they were both gasping for breath.
"Sweet!" he muttered as he stared at her lips.
‘What does he mean by that? Is he saying that I am being sweet to him?’ Sophia thought to herself.
"What are you talking about, Patrick?" she voiced her thoughts.
Sometimes, she couldn't understand him.
Was he making fun of her? When he wanted to do it, he would become overbearing and force himselfunto her, and if Patrick didn't want it, he would just put her behind as if nothing had happened betweenthem.
It was like she was just a toy, waiting to be played and used whenever a child was in the mood to play.
"The literal meaning, Sophia. You tasted so sweet" Patrick bluntly said, dismissing her thoughts.
She was a little surprised.
This time Patrick was honest and directly admitted what he was thinking.
Sophia was surprised by his acquiescence.
"Do you think that I'm an easy woman? Who made you think I'd foolishly engage in another love gameaffair with my ex-husband?"
‘This is a joke, right? I'm dreaming, right? What happened here didn't actually happen in the real world, right?’ Sophia tried to convince herself. She thought that she was not dumb enough to fall for his tricksagain.
"I'll provide you with a reasonable explanation. Can you please give me some time?"
Patrick pleaded. His hands were still tightly wrapped around her waist. His grip was so strong that shecouldn't help but frown.
Sophia bitterly smiled as tears welled up in her eyes.
"Explain what? Explain why you suddenly and unexpectedly divorced me five years ago? When youtold me to abort our child, or the pain and despair I felt when the cold scalpel cut through myabdomen?" she asked, aggrieved.
"You make me feel sick, Patrick” Sophia muttered.
Every word she said was heavy and filled with disgust.
She was disgusted with him, and what happened between them today made her feel like vomiting.
"Do you know why my mother was blind and why she spent the rest of her life in the dark, losing herhusband's love and her initially perfect family?!"
Patrick suddenly roared in the darkness.
Sophia couldn't see what he looked like in the darkness, but it was easy to tell from his hoarse voicethat he was hurting deep inside.
Bewildered, Sophia asked, "What are you talking about?"
"Nothing, never mind.I just shouted at you.Are you not afraid of me?"
Patrick asked when he regained his calm and composure again.
Sophia immediately stepped away when she heard his words, believing it was best to keep a safedistance from him.Her mind was still chaotic, and she could not clearly think just yet.She needed timeto calm down.
"I'm not sure when someone will replace out that people are trapped in this elevator. We won't be here allnight, will we?" she muttered.
Sophia didn't want to be confined in the same space with him any longer.
After their fight, the elevator seemed particularly quiet.
Patrick lit a cigarette.
The cigarette butt reflected light on his face.
"So, President Evans frequently gets involved in this type of game with his previous women?"
After a long silence, Sophia seemed like she had regained her calm and wits.
"I have never once played with a woman's heart, but that doesn't mean I'm not good at it" he said with aplayful smile.
Was he trying to tell her that she enjoyed what they shared? ‘Wow, look at how confident he looks!’Sophia sneered in her heart.
All of a sudden, the elevator started to function again.
The light was restored, and it was now steadily descending.
Sophia was glued to the side of the elevator. She could see her complete reflection on the elevator'swall that was made of golden aluminum steel. She was in a mess, her cheeks were flushed, and her lipswere swollen.
How intense was the kiss they shared just now? Thinking about it, Sophia's breathing which hadcalmed down instantly became chaotic once again.
She realized that she could not think about him and what they shared without getting distracted andaddicted.
The elevator steadily stopped on the floor with a "ding" sound.
Sophia did not move.
She was waiting for him to go out so that she could take the elevator to the first floor once it returned.
Patrick knew her intentions. He gently pulled her out of the elevator with his big warm hands.
"That night, I didn't want to do you wrong. It wasn't because of some shallow reason" he suddenlyexplained.
He was being cautious, afraid that she would not hear him out.
And he was also being patient.
She wouldn't strongly resist because she already knew what had happened that night.
If she had been awake that night, she would have regarded what happened as a form of goodbye.
But he was holding back.
What did this mean? Was it disgust? Disdain? Sophia couldn't understand.
Sophia did not dare to think about his actions. She kept trying to forget it.
That night was so wrong.
But in the end, she was grateful for it.
Sophia thought she should thank him for that matter and be proud of herself for not losing her sanity.
She wouldn't be able to raise her head in front of him again otherwise.
When Patrick drove the car to the apartment building where Sophia was staying, it was already nineo'clock in the evening.
Sophia unbuckled her seat belt and exited the car without saying anything because she was at a lossfor words.
Saying goodbye would sound too intimate, and if she would say that his driving was slow and the entirejourney was a disappointment, it would be better to say nothing at all.
Patrick followed her out of his car and leaned against its side.He raised his eyebrows and lit a cigarette.
"Off you go.I'll take another cigarette before I leave” Patrick said.
Sophia remained silent and nodded before she walked towards her apartment building. She had beenbusy for the past few days, and Emma requested Fiona to take care of her because her child also likedher best friend.Sometimes, she felt that Fiona had taken over her motherly duties.
Sophia went into the bathroom to take a hot bath.
When she came out, she put on a facial mask and pressed her fingers flat on her face.
When she accidentally touched past her swollen lips, she couldn't help but think of their kiss.
Forbidden activities were always unforgettable.
That was all Sophia could think.
Or rather, she never had that kind of experience before.
But of course, it was easy for healthy young men and women to let themselves run wild if they were ina confined place.
Sophia shook her head and went to pull the curtain to sleep.
But when she glanced at the Rolls-Royce that was still downstairs, her heart thumped loudly againsther chest. She didn't know what was wrong with her! Patrick stood by the car.
There were many cigarette butts lying down under his feet while he stood there as he waited for Sophiato turn off her room's lights to sleep.
Once he made sure that she was going to sleep, he planned to take his leave.
Sophia couldn't understand.
Until today, she couldn't understand what happened five years ago.
What really happened? Meanwhile, when Patrick lit another cigarette, he looked up and saw that thelights on the seventh floor had already been turned off.
This meant Sophia had fallen or was about to sleep.
So, when the smoke came out of his nostrils, he suddenly felt satisfied.
He never thought that he could have second chances in life.
He took the last puff of his cigarette, got into his car, and drove away from the community's small andnarrow lane. Not far away, under the shade of a tree, there was a Rolls-Royce car identical to the onethat had just driven out of the community.
Aside from the license plate, it was nearly impossible to tell the difference, they looked completely thesame.
"Miss, do you still want to follow?" the driver in the front seat asked.
The woman in the back massaged her glabella.
"Don't follow too closely.Let me think about it"
