Chapter 55

Men were different.

When they said they wanted to break up, they really wanted to break up.

Sophia secretly thought that Jenelyn's relationship had probably come to an end.

However, even if she wanted to think about it, she definitely wouldn't say it aloud.

Sophia nodded. She took the packet in Jenelyn's hand.

"Then go ahead and have a good talk with him.If you want to make this relationship work again, try toapologize.Try to solve your issues"

Jenelyn wiped the tears on her face, thanked her, took her bag, and hurriedly left the General ManagerOffice.

Sophia looked at the packet Jenelyn gave her and went hurriedly to the meeting room at forty minutespast nine.

The meeting was a daily meeting with the various department heads and supervisors of the Evanscompany.

The host of this meeting was none other than Patrick himself.

When Sophia arrived, most of the department managers had already sat down. She found a seat andsat down only to replace out that she was sitting opposite Lianna.

When Lianna raised her head, their gazes met.

Sophia lowered her head to look at the packet she was holding. She pretended that she did not see theflash of contempt on Lianna’s face.

Patrick walked in and was clearly under pressure.

Today, he was wearing a black suit.

His suit jacket was slightly open, revealing a white shirt underneath.

He was also wearing black trousers that made his slender legs even straighter. He walked to the headof the table and sat down.He gestured for everyone who stood up to greet him to sit down again with alazy wave of his hand.

After everyone sat down, John walked to the microphone platform and began the meeting.

"Good morning, everyone.According to the summary of various departments, the overall performanceof the Evans Group this month had declined.Whether it was in terms of commercial media coverage orsub-industry.

John talked with little nonsense.

His speech was about identifying the issues and how to resolve them.

It was Sophia's first time attending this kind of daily meeting.

Before she figured out the process, she listened to the various department heads talk about their plansand talking points.

They argued every other second.

No matter how fast she wrote, she couldn't write everything, so she could only pick up key points andtry to remember as many as possible.

Another department ended their talking points.

Next up was Lianna’s Quality Control Department.

"I think the difficulty of the Quality Control Department recently depends on the accuracy of the staff tograsp the market sales.Although the HR department has recruited some experienced evaluationpersonnel, the experience for big cases was too little and lacked sharp vision.I hope that everyone willparticipate in the big cases in the future.Although it will be a little troublesome, it is beneficial for theoverall development of the Quality Control Department and the company in terms of training talent."

Lianna's words were sharp and concise and pointed straight to the crux of the issue.

It allowed the people listening to it to quickly understand and achieve a clear idea in a short period.

Sophia had once stayed in the Quality Control Department and knew that Lianna was the saiddepartment manager.

The subordinates’ opinion of her was not favorable, mainly because she was usually too arrogant, overbearing, and unreasonable.

But one thing could not be denied, Lianna was highly efficient in her work, decisive and opinionated, and had a strong sense of urgency.

Therefore, the executives loved her deeply, and she had come today prepared.

Lianna was able to have such a day.

Sophia felt that this was not by chance or luck.

Speaking of Lianna, she suddenly remembered that time in the parking lot.She overheard Adrianasaying that she did not put Lianna in Evans's Group to make her fall in love with Patrick.

Sophia's mind was filled with doubts.

But she had too many things to do before, so she forgot about this matter.

Now that she thought about it carefully, she asked herself, 'Did Adriana arrange for Lianna to comehere to monitor Patrick and prevent the female employees from plotting against him?’ But it seemedthat it was not going smoothly.

After all, the company was an office building.

Even if there were women who wanted to get close to Patrick, many employees in the building could beeyes and ears.

After all, Patrick was considered a star in here, and there were countless pairs of eyes secretlywatching him.

If there were even the slightest movement or talk, the news would spread from the basement to the topfloor in no time at all.

Sophia couldn't figure it out at the moment, but she didn't know if Patrick knew about this matter.

‘Should I tell him?’ Sophia wondered.

This matter would be a little tricky to deal with.

First, Adriana was his fiancee, and Patrick probably knew what Adriana arranged in private.

The second situation was that he didn't know anything.

If she ran over and told him in private, but he thought that she was playing some trick to break hisrelationship with Adriana, it wouldn't be good.

In short, it wasn't easy to choose between the two situations.

At the end of the meeting, Patrick stood up.

She didn't know if it were an illusion, but Sophia felt that he glanced in her direction.

Her days returned to the state when she just entered the Evans' Company and worked as before.

After work, she ate and walked by herself.

Although it was monotonous and dull, she was delighted.

It was cloudy with light rain when Fiona brought Emma back.

Fiona held an umbrella, and Emma also had a small umbrella with her as they walked back to theapartment building.

Emma was delighted that she had finally returned to her mother's side.

She was laughing along the way.

"Are you that happy?"

Sophia smiled and looked at Emma.

Emma nodded, her cute little bun swayed along with her movements, and her short legs took quicksteps.

"Of course, I listen to my classmates every day how their parents are, but I live at Auntie Fiona’s place,so I have nothing to say to them."

Sophia sighed at the child’s competitiveness. She owed this child too much.

"Emma, Mommy promises that we will always be together in the future. We won't be separatedanymore" Sophia said seriously.

Emma was even happier after hearing this. She lifted her little foot and stepped on the puddle as sheskipped and bounced.

"Mom, that sentence sounds familiar. It seems that Quentin also said this to me; Emma said.Sophiacouldn't help but tease Emma.

"Why did he say that? It's not like you're boyfriend and girlfriend."

Emma blushed and pouted.

"When the teacher wanted us to split up and pair with another classmate, Quentin disagreed. He saidthat to me after that event."

Sophia felt that children and adults needed someone to accompany them.

However, Quentin and Emma were destined to be separated in the end.

When they got home, Sophia quickly put the bathwater on for Emma.

It was raining outside, and Emma's hair was wet.

Sophia was afraid that Emma might catch a cold, so she took the latter a bath.

When Emma lived with Sophia, she needed to wake up early and sleep late.

Sometimes, she had to work overtime, and she had to trouble Fiona to help her pick up Emma.

On this day, she worked until six o'clock in the evening.

After picking up Emma from school, Fiona called her.

"Are you still at work? Let's have dinner together tonight.I haven't eaten with you and Emma for a longtime."

Sophia had completed her work.

After turning off her computer, she grabbed her bag and walked out.

Before she reached the elevator, however, Fiona's words came from the other side of the line.

Sophia carefully thought about it and felt Fiona was correct. She could no longer remember the last timethey had eaten together.

She said jokingly, "Well, it is an honor for us mother and daughter to have dinner with Princess Fiona."
