Single Mother: Struggling With The Dangerous CEO -
Chapter 56
Chapter 56
After she hung up the phone, she raised her eyes and met a sharp gaze. The man's figure was half-hidden in the dark, and there was an unfinished cigarette between his fingers.
Sophia bit her lip, not sure if he had heard the words "mother and daughter"she had just said.
"Sir Patrick,"
Sophia greeted and nodded in his direction.
Patrick put out the cigarette in his hand, threw it into the trash can, and walked over, "You're going outtonight?"
Sophia nodded nervously, "I am having a meal with a friend"
Patrick put his hands in his pockets and did not say anything else.
Before leaving, he only said, "Have a good meal."
Sophia breathed a sigh of relief. She felt that he did not hear any of it aside from the dinner plans.
However, even if he heard it, it was nothing. It had been five years.
He should not be able to associate Emma with him as his child.
Although she told herself this, Sophia still felt a little scared.
She was terrified that if Patrick knew about it, he would take Emma away.
It seemed that she had to be more careful with her conversations in the future. She must not bediscovered that she had a child.
Sophia and Fiona agreed to meet at a very ordinary fast-food restaurant. She originally wanted tochange it to a better place and appropriately reward Fiona for taking care of Emma.
But Fiona disagreed, "Don't change places.I will be satisfied after eating a meal at a fast-foodrestaurant.I am not a capitalist.I won't let you buy me expensive meals’
Sophia smiled and ordered two pizzas, a hamburger, and some cola, enough for three people to eat.
Emma was a child.
After eating, she would go and play.
Sophia sent her to a restaurant corner to play in a park specially built for children.
Then, she called the waiter and changed the table to the other side, so she could see Emma throughthe window.
Fiona also had no appetite.
After eating a little, she was already full and asked her, "How have you been in the company recently? Is the pressure still so great? Do you two still talk?"
Sophia shook her head.
"After adapting to it, I don't feel so stressed anymore.I have no contact with him.Except for thenecessary meetings and social activities."
"That is good.At the very least, you have a high salary income” Fiona said.
Sophia smiled, "Yes, I have a high salary and will be able to support Emma and get treatment for mymother. It is excellent"
Fiona thought about it and said, "Sophia, you said that a man suddenly approached you, but thequestions he asked you were all about another woman, so what does he mean by that?"
Sophia frowned and felt that Fiona had something to tell her.
Fiona blushed.
"It's also a recent event. He shows up from time to time.Chatting with me about unimportant things, andfinally, he will return to the topic about that woman.I can't understand him!"
"Then who is the woman he wants to replace out from you?" Sophia asked.
"She is a friend of mine" Fiona answered.
Sophia thought for a moment.
"He approached you.Could it be that he likes your friend, and by coming to you, he would understandmore about that friend of yours?"
"I think so too!" Fiona sighed.
Sophia quickly comforted her, "But it is hard to say.Men are different from women, from their speakinghabits and how their minds think. It is hard to guess."
Fiona realized that she had lost her composure. She quickly smiled at Sophia, indicating that she wasokay. Then, she moved.
She held her chin with one hand and shook the glass of cola on the table in boredom.
Fiona's thoughtful appearance was reflected in Sophia's eyes.
Sophia didn't ask in detail.
It was simply impossible for outsiders to understand this matter about feelings.
Even if she said a lot today, Fiona might not listen to it.
These kinds of emotions would have to be realized by Fiona herself.
It was just that Fiona hadn't been in a relationship before.
She was more or less worried that she would suffer a loss if these continued. She was afraid that onceshe fell into it, she would not recover from it.
Their dinner ended just at about seven o'clock.
Because she ate a lot that night, Fiona suggested walking back.
In any case, the dinner location was not far from Sophia's apartment building, and it would take nomore than ten minutes if they walked it from where they were right now.
Sophia had no objections.
Usually, she was busy with work and rarely exercised, so she could take this opportunity to move hermuscles and bones.
The three of them walked together.
They had Emma between them, and they were holding Emma's hands.
They would let Emma jump and hang between them from time to time. She played happily and laugheda lot.
Frostford City was a coastal city.
The difference between day and night was huge.
Nighttime was never as hot as daytime.
There was wind blowing, and it was a little cool tonight.
The weather was very comfortable.
On both sides of the road were tall palm trees.
The bottom of the trees was covered with green grass.
In the middle, there were also various kinds of wild roses.
Under the light of the street lamps, they were even more beautiful.
Scattered along the road were multi-shaped purple and red flowers which were enchanting in their ownway.
Everyone said that the big city of Frostford was beautiful and charming.
However, Sophia felt that the beauty of this city was sometimes a kind of poison to young people.
How many young people had lost their minds because they fell in love with the beauty of this city? Tenminutes later...
The three arrived outside of the building where Sophia and Emma lived.
Fiona stopped and said, "Sophia, let's go to the supermarket for a walk.I always wanted to buysomething, but I have no one to go shopping with.I don't like to go there by myself, so I have neverbought anything”
Sophia nodded.
Some of the daily necessities at home had been used up, So it was good to buy some now.
The supermarket closest to Sophia's house was the family mart on 7th Avenue.
It had a total of three floors, and all kinds of goods were available.
Someone once joked that getting lost after entering this building was easy.
Although it was a joke, one could read the vastness of the supermarket between the lines.
The two of them deposited their bags and picked a cart to carry children.
They let Emma sit in it as they pushed the cart into the supermarket.
The first floor was primarily vegetables and fruits. The second floor was the daily necessities.
They both needed to buy some of what they needed daily, so they didn't stay on the first floor. They tookthe escalator to the second floor.
The supermarket was big, there were many goods, and many discounts available.
Naturally, there were many people, too.
Sophia pushed the cart with difficulty and followed behind Fiona.
Fiona decisively took three big bags when they walked to the area where the sanitary napkins wereplaced.
The amount she took could last her for a year.
"Are you sure about buying that much?" Sophia asked.
Fiona nodded and continued to go to the next aisle.
Sophia frowned.
Only then did she realize that Fiona was not short of things but she simply used shopping to vent theemotions in her heart.
A woman's way of venting was different from a man's.
A man could smoke and drink, but a woman seemed to vent by spending money.
Sophia bought a bottle of soy sauce and a few pairs of socks.
When she looked up again, the cart was almost full.
‘Did it have to be so exaggerated?’ Sophia told herself.
She couldn't believe what she was seeing.
Fiona also felt that it was a bit excessive and scratched her head.
"I will take some back." Sophia reached out to stop Fiona’s hand.
"Since you put it here, there is no need to take it back. They can be used anyway" Fiona smiled.
It seemed that the frustration in her heart had passed.
She regained a bit of her rationality. She no longer frantically went to the shelves to take things and putthem into the cart.
Instead, she began to follow Sophia.
