Roma’s POV

I would have thought I was dreaming when my eyes first settled on Aria if it wasn’t for the loud music that threatened to destroy my eardrums.

Being a werewolf with very acute hearing was a curse in noisy places and clubs were no exception but at this moment, it didn’t matter whether I was going to go deaf.

All that mattered was the woman I was looking at.

She looked like a mistress of sin. Dressed in the shortest piece of clothing that I had ever seen on her, my eyes moved from her long legs in heels to the rest of her body that was inside that red dress that looked like sin.

Aria Ajello looked like a well defined and set temptation and I was not the only man in the room who could not get their eyes off her.

I had to fight the urge to go to each and everyone of them and growl that they were looking at my woman.

But she wasn’t my woman. She didn’t belong to me. And the mating bond was no excuse to act on the rage that whispered in my bones, especially because it would be dangerous in a town crawling with werewolf hunters if I caused a scene.

A space had been created for her and a circle had formed around her as she danced, her eyes barely opened and her movements completely free of any worries wearing one of those disarming smiles that made me want to keep her at arms length, I tried to remind myself why I had pushed her away.

I tried to remind myself that there were many good reasons why I should not want Aria Ajello. Many reasons why I did not deserve her.

All I could do was watch mesmerized as she moved in sync to the music, her entire body oozing of s****l appeal that I doubted she knew she even possessed.

Her hands went into her hair and she stuck her tongue as she turned around and swayed, but managed to continue to dance to the beat.

Drunk. She was drunk as f**k.

Nathan came back in and walked up to where I stood.

“The girls are in the car. The sober one will drive and I’ll drive right behind them.”

I nodded, my eyes not moving away from Aria’s form as people cheered her on and clapped for her, egging her on.

“Go. I’ll take care of her.” I told him and when he left, I saw a man move closer to Aria to dance. Human.

She tried to push him away so that she could continue dancing on her own but he persevered and put his hands on her waist.

She tried to push him away so that she could continue dancing on her own but he persevered and put his hands on her waist.

That was about as much self control I could allow myself.

Pushing through the crowd immediately, I stood behind Aria and raised my eyebrow at him.

“Who the f**k are you man?” He said and wrapping one hand around Aria’s waist, I pulled her flush against me, her back against my front before I pinned the man with what Raphael usually called my Dark look.

The man’s face paled and he swallowed nervously, getting the threat in my gaze loud and clear.

“Sorry man. Didn’t know she was with you.” He said hurriedly and disappeared into the crowd.

“It is you. I’m not dreaming, am I?” She said as she leaned her head back to sniff my neck and I would have thought she was the cutest thing I had ever seen if I had not just seen her work the dance floor like a total temptress.

I turned her around to face me and raised my eyebrows.

“You are drunk, young lady.”

She giggled and hiccuped, rubbing her nose adorably.

“And you are handsome. Did you come to save me again?”

“I did not come to save you” I lied and she jutted out her lower l*p in a pout and held onto me when she staggered, looking up to stare at me.

“It doesn’t matter. As long as you are here. Your hair looks nice.”

The fact that she reached out to touch it immediately was a dead giveaway to how drunk she was. Sober Aria Ajello would never in a million years do it even if I offered my head to her and asked her to.

“So soft. Like I always imagined.”

“Okay, we can talk about my hair outside. Let’s go.”

Resisting the urge to throw her over my shoulders and slap her a*s for drinking so much, I led her through the crowd gently until we got to my car and I was wearing her seatbelt when she cupped my face and smiled.

“Thought you said you did not come to save me, Alpha.”

Her long lashes fluttered and all of my body turned to f*****g stone, my d**k the hardest of all.

Holding her wrists, I looked at her mouth for the longest time and closed my eyes for a moment before exhaling and hurrying over to the driver seat.

By the time we arrived back at the mansion, she was fast asleep, murmuring inaudible words and I gently carried her bridal style into the house, fighting the primal urge to take her to my bed so that when she woke in the morning, she would be covered in my scent.

There were a lot of things that I wanted to do to Aria. And not one of them was innocent.

Heading to her room, I removed her shoes and dropped her gently on the bed and was about to leave when she tugged on my hand gently.

“Stay.” She whispered, her hand holding onto mine with a grip that was firm even though I knew she was half awake.

“Okay. I just want to sit…”

“No” she whined and shook her head with a pout, patting the space beside her.

Was she asking me…

When she didn’t release my hand, I decided to indulge her until she fell asleep.

Getting into the bed, I turned to face her and saw a satisfied drunken smile on her face.

“Why did you come for me tonight?”

“You ask a lot of questions for such a tiny person.”

“Yeah but it’s fun to know things. Thank you for the stipend.”

“Of course.”

“And thank you for coming to save me. I know you could have sent somebody else and that you’re probably very busy and might have just stumbled on us, but I’m glad it was you that came for you. And not anyone else. You.”

Her hand cupped my face and I froze as we stared at each other, the tension in the room thick with different emotions.

“Try to get some sleep, Aria. You’ll need it.”

She nodded and stared at me for a while.

I didn’t know which of us moved first but we kissed and I pulled her flush against me as I growled like a man starving who had finally been given food on a platter.

Her hand grabbed my shirt as I held the back of her neck and g*****d, my body turning to stone against hers.

When her hand went beneath my shirt, I froze and pulled back to look at her, but her eyes were closed and she was snuggling into me.

“Warm” was the last word she murmured before she fell asleep.
