Sold To The Demon Alpha -
Chapter 56
Roma’s POV
I had searched the entire mansion for Aria right after I had showered, my jealousy the push I needed to finally approach her.
It was a conceited thing to do especially because Scott might very well just be friends with Aria and after forcing her away from her home and everything that she knew, the least I could do was allow her to make friends in peace but I had seen the way Scott had looked at her when she smiled up at him.
I knew that look. Because that was the same way I looked at her. Like I could sell all of my belongings so that she would never have to frown again. Like I wanted to be the one that put that smile on her face forever.
I hated that she was smiling at someone else that was not me. It was an irrational thought but it had done the trick and pushed my stubborn a*s to replace her.
Especially because she had been unable to smile when she looked at me and I hated that more than anything.
I had no idea what I was going to tell her when I saw her. But I wasn’t going to let that stop me.
Scian was right. I was being a stubborn fool and one of these days, it was going to cost me.
Entering the infirmary, I was heading to Scian’s office when I saw Scott.
He stopped, bowing when he saw me and I had to stop myself from growling at the kid just because I had a mean jealous streak.
He couldn’t have known that the woman he had so casually touched and led into the mansion today was mine.
Her scent still lingered on him and when he raised his head to look at me, I felt sorry that I could not even reciprocate his joy to see me.
“Alpha, Scian has gone to visit Drey to see how he is faring. Would you like to wait for her or is it something that I can help you with?” He asked and I fisted my hands and cleared my throat, feigning nonchalance as I answered.
“Aria Ajello. She was last seen with you. Any idea where she is now?”
He shook his head even though his face softened at her name and I knew without a doubt that he liked her, the way a man wanted a woman.
Pinching the bridge of my nose to keep myself from behaving out of character, I waited for him to answer and he nodded.
“She said she was heading to the kitchen. I have not seen her since then. You might want to try her phone?”
I had already tried but it was saying that there was no service.
And I had been to the kitchen and her quarters and she wasn’t anywhere.
My anger turned to worry because what if something had happened to her?
Aria was the most injury prone person that I had ever met and since she came here, she hadn’t gone more than two weeks without having to visit Scian for one situation or the other.
Was that what was happening this time?
Scott brought out his phone and frowned when he placed it close to his ear. I heard the same thing that I had been told as well, that her phone was out of range.
“I need to replace her.” He said to himself and looked at me.
“I’ll replace her and bring her to you.”
I shook my head.
“Scian isn’t here and you’re her most experienced student. Stay here. I’ll replace her.”
“But, Alpha, would that not be a bother to you?”
I growled and when his face widened in surprise, I sighed and took a deep breath.
“I apologize for that. But let me handle it. Stay here. Just incase something bad…” I trailed off and his face went pale, but he understood what I was saying.
Just incase I found Aria injured or worse, she would need medical attention to survive because she was human and even her smallest wounds would not heal without intervention.
His nod was the last thing I saw before I called Raphael on the phone.
“Where are you?” I asked when he picked up.
“I’m in the mansion, in my office. Where are you?”
“Leaving. I can’t replace Aria. I need you to search for her in the pack. I’m going to search the woods. I need to replace her, Rafa. I need…” I trailed off, my throat suddenly closing up and I realized that I was panicking.
Raphael must have heard the horror in my voice because he replied gently.
“I will get back to you if I replace something. And we will replace her. Breathe, Roma. Breathe now!”
Under normal circumstances, I would have growled that he was ordering me but his sharp voice was what I needed to snap me back to reality.
Ending the call, I was about to open the exit door when it opened and Salem walked in.
The smile on her face faded and she bowed, her lips quivering as she tried to walk away.
I nodded, about to let her go when I smelled it.
Aria’s scent on her.
It was too distinct or perhaps it was because she was my mate that I could fish out her scent even in the most unlikely situations.
“Stop.” I growled and Salem did, freezing but not turning to look at me.
I walked back and stood in front of her to see her lips shaking.
“Why is Aria’s scent lingering on you?”
“Who is that?” She asked but her heart was beating too fast. She was lying.
“Answer the question before I have you whipped for lying to me.” I said calmly, my eyes darkening in rage but she remained calm
“Oh, the human girl, that’s her name? Aria, you said?”
“Yes, now answer the question.” I growled, cornering her until her back was resting against the wall in the quiet hallway.
“Oh, she was in my room. I wanted to have a chat with her.”
“About what?”
“Nothing, I just wanted to get to know her after you know the way she saw us making love…”
“f*****g, Salem. We were f*****g. And don’t steer away from the question. What happened after your chat with her?”
“Why are you so curious about her? Who cares if she lives or dies, she’s just one little human.”
I growled so loud, the paintings hanging against the wall in the hallway shook and her eyes widened as I grabbed her by the throat.
“What did you do to her, Salem?”
When she didn’t answer, I slammed the wall beside her head and didn’t care that she was crying. Not when she might have done something worse to Aria.
“I escorted her to get some purple mirkwood flowers that I needed and because she was wasting so much time, I left her there.”
Her words sounded far away because there was one only place where the purple mirkwood flower grew and it was in the forbidden forest. Where the feral wolves usually appeared at night.
“What do you mean, you left her there?”
Salem nodded.
“I did. And I hope that she doesn’t come back.”
