Chapter 399 That's It

Although she only said three simple words, Jay's heart was moved by her words of concern. His eyes widened slowly as he said, "A little."

"I'll be gentle. If you can't handle it, just let me know," Doris didn't feel like she was acting differently towards Jay. She was treating him like she would any other injured person! Jay stayed silent, and his eyes smiled as he looked at Doris.

Doris disinfected, treated, and bound up Jay's wound. She moved carefully for fear of hurting him.

When Doris finished, she breathed a sigh of relief. "It's going to be okay. The wound isn't deep, but you should be careful not to touch water, or it will get infected!" she instructed.

Although she sounded soft and tender, her voice was full of warning.

"Okay," Jay answered with a serious look on his face.

He suddenly pulled Doris into his arms and kissed her passionately.

"Hmm..." Doris was pissed off. She had asked for leave yesterday morning, so she wouldn't be able to ask for another leave this morning. 'And I have an interview at half-past ten today,' she resigned. She bit Jay's tongue hard in protest.

Jay jerked away in pain. "Doris..."

"Who said you could take advantage of me?" Doris shouted, her eyes widening in shock.

Jay smacked his lips and said with a smile, "Well, go and cook for me. I'm hungry."

"Where are the servants?" "I want to eat what you cook for me!"

Doris relented to Jay's request in order to get off him as soon as possible. She walked into the kitchen gloomily. Opening the fridge, she was annoyed to replace it empty except for two eggs.

Noodles?

That's it.

All of a sudden, a strange thought entered her mind. She had just bitten Jay, but he wasn't angry about it at all!

She quickly prepared the noodles and several poached eggs.

"Breakfast is ready, Jay." she called as she put the bowl on the table.

Jay strolled into the bathroom to wash his hands before entering the dining room.

"That's it?" Jay frowned in disappointment.

"The only thing I can make is the noodles. If you want to eat something delicious, you can go to a restaurant," Doris said as she ate her noodles.

Without replying, Jay sat down and lowered his head to eat the noodles.

It was his first time eating such a simple dish. He didn't mind, as the noodles smelled and tasted good. Just looking at Doris' clean and innocent face was enough to make Jay think anything was delicious. It was simple and comfortable. As long as Doris was by his side, the complicated world seemed far away.

This simple kind of happiness was more satisfying than acquiring a group or winning a project.

"You eat this." Jay put the poached egg into Doris' bowl.

His gesture took Doris by surprise.

Doris raised her head and took a look at Jay. His face was calm and expressionless.

TH just eat. It's no big deal,' she thought. Without hesitating, Doris lowered her head and continued to eat.

When she was full, she put down her chopsticks and said, "Jay, I remember seeing a lot of food in the fridge a few days ago. Where did they go?"

"I threw them out. Vegetables can't be stored in the fridge for more than two days. Do you understand?" he asked calmly.

"That's a bunch of nonsense. If that's the case, then why do we still need the fridge?"

"This is what I usually request, understand?" Jay asked again.

Raising her eyebrows at him, Doris said, "Well, if that's what you want, then it's none of my business."

Jay raised his injured hand at her. "My hand can't touch water, so you have to take good care of me for a few days."

"Don't you have servants? Did you spend that much money to hire them just to look at them?"

"I'm a neat freak. I don't want the servants anywhere near me. I need you to do this for me." After finishing the noodles in his bowl, Jay wiped his mouth with an unsatisfied look. Jay was so unreasonable!

Doris stood up and asked, "Are you full?"

Jay nodded in reply. "The noodles were delicious." "It's easy to make. Just boil the water and put the noodles in." Doris put away the crystal bowl.

"I can't."

Doris was rendered speechless by Jay's words. 'Jay, you deserve to starve to death,' she thought to herself.

She shrugged and went into the kitchen with the bowls and chopsticks. The dishes were cleaned in two minutes. When Doris came back out, Jay had already changed into new clothes. "Are you going to work?" Doris asked.

"I'll drive you to Nancy's," he replied. Jay's right hand had been injured so he was unable to wear his tie properly.

Doris approached him and reached out to take his hand. "Let me do it for you." "Do you think I have a good relationship with Nancy?" she asked.

"Of course." Doris would be lonely at home, so Jay had arranged to drive her to Nancy's and have an examination on the way.

"I agree," she replied.

Nancy was not in the hospital.

After replaceing out that Derrick had colluded with Anna, Nancy had hurried back home.

She wanted to let Charles know about this immediately, but Edward had informed her that Charles took the children to the Fu family.

Assuming that Derrick would also be there, Nancy was about to drive over but was stopped by Edward.

"Charles wouldn't want you to go there. He might be dealing with something," Edward said after thinking for a while.

"What do you think it is?" Nancy asked.

"I don't know. All I know is that you shouldn't go there."

This was not Edward's idea, but Charles'.

Charles wasn't a reckless man. He would have his reasons for not letting Nancy go.

Nancy had no choice but to nod in agreement.

The thought that she couldn't go there made Nancy furious.

In the Fu family's old mansion.

Derrick didn't come, but Joseph was there instead.

Joseph did not intend to leave after dinner.

Ever since he received his shares of the TS Group, he had grown more complacent.

It seemed to him that he would become the head of the TS Group any second now.

He knew that he could replace Charles any time he wanted, and only needed his grandfather's agreement.

Aware of that fact, Joseph tried his best to please Frederic.

"Grandpa, Nancy shouldn't be trusted. If my brother marries her, the TS Group will be destroyed by him sooner or later. I've already asked for someone to do a background check on Edward. He has a strong background, but not as strong as ours. If Nancy and Edward join forces, the TS Group will be purchased by the Wu family one day. Joseph whispered these words in Frederic's ears

whenever he had the chance.

In Frederic's eyes, Joseph's worries were valid.

After all, the TS Group had been the fruit of the Fu family's labor. He wouldn't allow for it to be destroyed by just anybody.
